Who mows the lawn at 4am?

Nephlabobo

CAGiversary!
I'm trying to listen to music quietly and not disturb the neighbours, and some guy is outside mowing his lawn.

WTF?

Maybe he's on drugs.

Maybe he works odd hours.

Maybe he doesn't like the sun.

Maybe he's a vampire.

I feel your pain. There's someone that lives above who is always vacuuming late at night.

It doesn't really bother me because I'm awake. I feel sorry for the people sleeping in the neighbourhood though.

I've got some billybob assholes sharing a house next door that wait until 10:00 PM. Then mow like a 1/8th of it every night. So by the time they finish the back, the front needs it again. They piss off the porch, sit out back around a fire drinking and hooting until 2:00 AM on weeknights, and had a perpetual yard sale the cops recently told to pack up because everybody on the street was getting pissed at their lawns becoming parking lots for a neverending junk sale.

I'm just wondering how he can tell when he's done?
Lol that fool must be high on ecstasy :whee:
Or mushrooms.

Well, the neighborhood lawn crew here starts at around 6 a.m. I sometimes find myself doing housework at 1 or 2 a.m. Honestly, if I were so inclined to do yard work at 4 a.m., I wouldn't care about the opinions of others. It's not like they're going to do it for me.

*shrugs*

I would go with he is on E. Haha, no for real, just go outside one night(wielding a pipe in case he freaks out) and ask him what the fuck he is doing.

Yeah, but there's lights on in your house at 1am.

And the sun is out by 6am.

But 4am?
I would think this is against a city/town noise ordinance.
This.

One of my friends at the apartment would call the police whenever he heard any sorts of loud noise after midnight. I'd imagine 4am would be too early considering most people don't work till 7/8 with the occasional second shift and third shift, but if you worked third shift you could mow when you get home by 8, and second shift before you leave.

I once considered it for shits and giggles, but then thought about it. I kinda need to be able to see what i'm cutting, 4 am equals no sunlight

My main concern of mowing the lawn in the dark is that I'd be worried that something/someone would come up behind me and I wouldnt be able to hear them (or see them naturally).

I had an old boss who mowed his lawn at 4. He had to be at work early so he was always up that early.

Regardless of when you work, I think you gotta respect quiet time (11-7). But maybe he couldn't sleep because he was playing Siren all night?
But maybe he couldn't sleep because he was playing Siren all night?
And quit out of frustration and decided to mow the lawn?

This isn't about mowing the grass late, but I was lighting fireworks last night at 11pm and some fat ho starting yelling at me and my friend that she was going to call the cops if we didn't stop. Ironically we had just ran out of fireworks, but her threat was meaningless because cops are slow and I've never had any trouble getting away from them.

The guy could have just got off work and that is the best time for him to do it. This is one thing that sucks about the world we live in today. People just think of the first shift monday - friday. They dont think about the other shifts. So I would think the law should stop him from doing this. However when he is trying to sleep say till 10am so he can be up and at work at 2pm and work till 2 am. No one will stop you from mowing your law at 7 or 8 am. Here I think the law is you cant do that till 6 or 7 am.

Sure it sucks I would be pissed if at 4 am some guy was mowing his law. But atleast he is doing something that he needs to do. He isnt out drinking and yelling when others are trying to sleep.

Is this one of those hypotheticals where you claim to be talking about someone else but are really talking about yourself?

Come on. It'll feel good to come clean.

I gotta agree there, I did the graveyard shift for a good year so for all intents and purposes from 4 am to 12pm was my night, didn't think twice about washing the car or having a few beers at 6 in the morning.

It is.

I went to college in a city that had an ordinance saying you can not honk your horn before 7am. I think that is stupid because it was a state law that you don't honk your horn unless it's an emergency or to wake up another driver.

I have heard that if, during hot summer months, if you mow your lawn while it's really hot out, it can damage your lawn somehow. Not sure of the specifics, but maybe that is one of the reasons he was mowing it, before the sun comes out.

It's true. You actually cause a lot of the moisture held in the leaves of grass to evaporate by mowing during the hottest part of the day. Best time to mow is in the morning or late afternoon/evening, or before rain.

Similarly, you should try to water outside plants at night or early in the morning, as it both conserves water and ensures the plants will have more chance to absorb it before it evaporates.

WTF, is he mowing the yard while wearing nightvision goggles? How can he mow it while it's pitch black outside? I tried something like that a couple weeks ago(finishing up mowing the yard at 10 p.m.) and it became hard to see where I mowed & where it needed mowed.
Ah, maybe you should go out there and make a new friend. Don't forget the mace.
+1

When I was younger I once tried to mow the lawn at 5am. My dad promised to take me with him in the morning and stop so I could buy a certain game if I would mow the lawn before he went.

He didn't think I'd do it, and needless to say I did. As soon as I turned it on he ran to the door and told me to stop

If I had to cut the lawn I would do it at 4:00 am too. It gets to fucking hot where I'm from in the day to cut it at a later time. It gets 100+ degrees before noon.

Why cut the grass? Won't it burst into flames all by itself?

Does he trim along the sidewalk using a Weed-whacker, too? I can't imagine the lawn would have straight mow lines in it if he's mowing that early.

Personally, I'd be pretty pissed if my neighbor were out there mowing at 4AM. The trash guys aren't so bad, but a lawn mower? That would suck.
Considering I went to bed at 2am, and haven't been to sleep since El Jackasso woke me up, yeah, it sucks.
Full Coke can shot straight to the head would stop that mowing real quick!

Computer error! Does not compute!

Man, if I could even get my arse up at 4 AM... I'd so mow the lawn and do house work just so it wouldn't take away from sitting around and being lazy time through out the day.
...They piss off the porch, sit out back around a fire drinking and hooting until 2:00 AM on weeknights...
You know, my friends and I like to sit on the driveway until 2 AM drinking a couple beers, racing quads down the street... and the guys like to forget bathrooms were made and pee on the side of the house. Must make us hill billy's... YES!

It reminds me of the time we had a good moshing straight through until 2 AM on the driveway. It's beyond me why no one called the cops. Extra funny bit of info... most of my friends turned 40 this year.
I would ensure that his lawn is filled with old D batteries for his next 4 am mowing.
Hahaha, hell yeah. If you did that, you would definitely not worry about him.

I mean I went to bed at 2am and got woken up at 4am and haven't been able to back to sleep.
Stick it in his pooper.
A broken broom handle? I was thinking about it.
