I like how everyone posts their favorite team as the future winner of the NBA finals.

I might as well jump into the fray!

Make way for King James!!!! Clevelands due for a Championship!

Detroit will repeat.
My sentiments exactly.
I love my hometown team too, but despite having a lineup that's even better than last season I think a repeat may be too much to ask.
I'll go with San Antonio over the Pacers as my Finals prediction.

I'm a celts fan and picked the Heat

Detroit will dominate all season long, I'd look for 65 wins this year.

As for this Houston crap... the Rockets aren't THAT good, get off T-Mac's dick, and while you're at it get off Tyra Bank's dick. She (and I use this term loosely) is just about the most hideous piece of shit I've ever seen. I'd appreciate it if you'd drop that avatar and sig because everytime I see it, I seriously want to puke. Back to the Rockets... they'll be lucky to get out of the first round. There's no way in hell they're beating the Kings, Spurs, or Timberwolves in a seven game series, it's just not happening, and I doubt they can beat Dallas or Phoenix either. It all depends on how far along Yao progresses this season, because in reality Yao is the Rockets, not T-Mac.

If I were a gambling horse, and I am, I'd sooner bet the Rockets don't make the play-offs than they win the 2005 NBA championship. You'll get an idea as to what I'm talking about opening night if you watch the Rockets get smoked by a real championship team: The Detroit Pistons.

Nobody has any Celt team spirit anymore, I put all the blame on Danny Ainge

Yeah, for as good as the Patriots and Red Sox are, Danny Ainge really fucked up Boston's most historic franchise. The Celtics are probably still the best team in NBA history, but they sure don't look like it right now.

Actually I like what Ainge has done he is building for the future. The combo of Walker-Pierce was never going to get further than the Conference Finals. Plus he got rid of Baker thats worth a medal

Now all the Celtics need to do is get rid of Pierce and Ainge, and perhaps they can start making a move in the right direction. Pierce is another one of those guys who will never win, true Walker was the worse of the two, but come on, Pierce has proven he has a minimal grasp on the concept of "team game"... I'd ship him off now before he turns into the next Shareef Abdur Rahim.

I agree. A change of scenery would probably help Pierce at this point of his career. He should take a page out of Rasheed's book.

and im also gonna be rootin for the bobcats not bein last this season...since im from NC :)

hmm....i dont know....experience together? more time to get used to the chemistry? hmm...yea, but that doesnt matter much, does it?

lol, j/p w/ ya
Yeah you are right about the team chemistry and the experience, but as long as Flip Saunders is the coach, I don't see them getting it done. And don't take anything away from Flip, he's one of the best in the league.

HOUSTON RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude shaq-fu that Flip is a great coach, Id like to see Jeff Van Gundy take you to 8 straight playoff appearances. The reason they didnt win is because they had no shaq-fuing pointguard in the playoffs. Sammy got hurt in the 2nd round and Hudson missed the whole playoffs. Plus this year we get Eddie Griffin. And why are you even for the Rockets? It says u live in FL.
The T'Wolves will win this year even though they haven't changed much. They will win it because shaq is out of the western conference (and if they can stay healthy) And don't take anything away from Flip, he's one of the best in the league.

My favorite Reggie Miller moment is when two years ago against the celts in the playoffs when he douldn't hit the ocean from a long pier if he tried. I hate that q-tip looking scrub

Finally someone agrees with me. They have a great team. They have areally good shot at repeating this year. And if Shaq and Kobe couldn't stop us and they were on the same team, how exactly are they gonna stop us on seperate teams?

Well actually... it didn't really take THAT long for the Magic to reach the finals, and in fact the Jaguars & Panthers of the NFL reached the semi-finals in their 2nd year. I doubt the Cats win more than 30 games though, I'd project a solid 23 win season for them.

But look at all the other teams that were mediocre for a while. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks were horrible, as were the Tampa Bay Lightning. I was just saying it takes time to build up a franchise. Course, the Red Wings were ALWAYS good *COUGH* Yeah Right*COUGH*.

What the hell is wrong with you boy!!! First you disrespect the Rockets, then you disrespect my Tyra. You must have been dropped on your head ir something when you were born. No one said anything about that ugly ass horse picture you have up there. And I can't get off Tyra's dick because she doesn't have one, as you can see in my sig.
At any rate, how could you say that the team is Yao's team. There's no way in heaven. Tracy McGrady is the best guard in the league. No one has been able to see because he has never had a supporting cast. NEVER!!!! He won the scoring title twice, I believe. He has also led them to the playoffs a couple of times. This year he has sort of a supporting cast, not a great one. All they need is a solid point guard and it's in the bag. They are going to be like the Lakers the first year they won the championship except without the coach. Tracy and Yao are going to be the next Kobe and Shaq, sort of. I would say completely if Yao would get his game together. he could be dominant, he just isn't. Rockets all the way!!!! Shaq-fu what you are talking about!!!!!!!

sheesh cashville...why is it when someone just doesnt think that the rockets will win the championship, you have to get all defensive about it...

yea, t-mac is good...yea yao is pretty good...but they dont have enough other good role players like the lakers had when they had kobe, shaq, fisher, fox, horry, etc...
The Pistons, if only because we don't have the Wings to distract us. They'd better look good again this year...
They should be, not that their Preseason record says they are (

But we aren;t keeping out big players in that much to avoid injuries.

I still can't believe Reggie Miller got hurt already. I hope he is alright. Indiana is going to miss him if he isn't in for a while.

I'm only 100% sure that the world would be a better place if you just put a gun in your mouth and pulled the trigger. Your arguments for why the Rockets will be good are just plain asinine, and your T-Mac/Tyra obsession scares me; because T-Mac has yet to prove jackshit in the playoffs, and Tyra is hideous. Watch the first Rockets game, as they get popped by Detroit; a solid "team" with great rebounders, the best group of defenders in the league, a solid bench, and a backcourt that can score at will when necessary.

i agree with everything you just said except 2 things:

1. tyra is not hideous, lol :p

2. they cant really score at will when necessary...they will probably do better this year than last though...they have never (in recent years, not back with isiah) been a team that could score a lot...

On the contrary, after Rasheed Wallace showed up Detroit had an inside scorer, this in turn creates more room for Chauncey and Rip. When I say "at-will" I don't mean they're they types of guys that can get 40 a night; however, 20 every night is still pretty solid. When Chauncey and Rip get "on" things get scary too, we all saw what happened to the Lakers. Put it this way I'd much rather have a backcourt starting Hamilton and Billups than T-Mac and Charlie Ward.

And tyra's forehead is huge, her body is fake, and I just don't find her attractive.

Oh... and finally does anyone else see how screwed Indy is already? Miller is out the first 6-8 weeks and O'neal is going on the DL too. OUCH. Doesn't look like they'll get off to a great start this year.

Sprewell wants trade if no deal is reached

MINNEAPOLIS - Latrell Sprewell says he'll ask to be traded if the Minnesota Timberwolves don't sign him to a contract extension by Wednesday night's opener.

"I think this thing is heading towards me leaving, personally," Sprewell told local newspapers after practice Sunday.

Earlier this preseason, Sprewell said he wanted a contract extension by the Wolves' Nov. 3 opener against the New York Knicks, or he would ask for a sign-and-trade deal or wait to become a free agent. Either way, Sprewell said he didn't want to negotiate during the season.

But he took a tougher stance Sunday.

Asked if he would play out the season and test the free-agent market, Sprewell said: "Why would I want to help them win a title? They're not doing anything for me. I'm at risk. I have a lot of risk here. I got my family to feed. Anything could happen."

Neither Sprewell's agent, Robert Gist, nor Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor immediately returned phone messages left by The Associated Press on Monday.

Sprewell, Sam Cassell and league MVP Kevin Garnett formed the NBA's highest scoring trio last year in leading the Wolves to the Western Conference finals. Sprewell averaged 16.8 points last season and is due to make $14.6 million this year.

Sprewell has said he doesn't want to take a pay cut. But at 34, the Wolves could be hesitant to oblige. Sprewell described the team's latest offer as "insulting."

I'm going with the Mavs on this one, even though it's a bit of a stretch.

I think they have one of the best, if not the best, benches in the league, and now they have players that will actually play defense.

If this team can get some good cohesion, they'll be very scary.

I'd go with Dallas before Houston, they actually have five guys that are worthy of starting on an NBA team. Plus they have Stack off the bench. Still not gonna happen, but you gotta pull for your home team.
