Whoa Whoa Whoa My Gamertag (Name) got Banned?!?!

The comment about Pimp My Ride is actually pretty astute. It's not fair that they'll ban gamertags for having "offensive" words that are contained in the titles for approved games.

It's not like it's AWESOME or anything to have "pimp" in your gamertag, but it sucks that they're making you change it. That's your online identity!

Anyway, I recommend trying to trick them with an alternate character or whatever. plmpinc333, p|mpinc333, etc.

Thanks for the explanation. I still have no idea why that gamertag would be banned though.

On another note, the word 'pimp' in its popular use (ie Pimp My Ride) is pathetic and I would be glad to see that garbage go away.

I don't think that that is true because I remember hearing someone on these forums complaining that Microsoft owes him 800 microsoft points for making him change his tag.

Don't bullshit with me. Either you actually attempt to clean up your service, or you don't. None of us care about MS cleaning up their service in a half-assed manner.
 
Took me forever to think of mines. If they ban my gt for some stupid reason then I'm all out of ideas. Also frustrates me that most the gamertags that I was going to make were already taken like "viet rice" or "viet pho".

I signed onto xbox live today and got the same response. ive had my gamertag KICKA55 K3V1N for years and now i cant use it anymore? WTF?!! my name doesnt even have a swear!! this is complete bullshit and hipocracy at its finest. MICROSOFT NEEDS TO GROW A fuckING SACK!! same goes for any of those whiny little bitches who report ppl

Dude you're using leetspeak to bypass filters for a swear word in your gamertag. If I had seen you on Live before, I would have reported you myself.

Like stepto said during the XBox Live Enforcement panel, lots of times if you play a game where more kids and families might be playing, like 1 vs. 100 or Uno, your tag will be scrutinized more than Halo/CoD.
 
It's kind of funny that this thread just got bumped, because I just seen a GamerTag on Fight Night Round 4 a few nights ago that was "SUCKKK MY DICCKKK"

Not exactly... There was some combination of Us, Is, Cs, and Ks. If you have FNR4 go to World Championships and then to the Light Weight Division and you should see it. He was the first overall leader on the boards. I will find it after work tonight and post the exact spelling if he is still up there.

I've seen some tags that are just a bunch of xbox controls icons such as RS, LS, LT, A, B, X, Y, now that was wierd.

I have had a bad morning. Last night when i tried to sign into my xbox live account "thegayergamer" I was told that it had to be changed. I figured that it was just from people reporting it as an offensive name being that the greater Xbox live community isn't exactly welcome to gay people, i spend a lot of time muting people on Halo3. I assumed that once i called Microsoft they would straighten things out.

I talked to a supervisor there, Roxy, who told me that she didn't personally find the fact that my gamer tag had gay in the name offensive, but that the greater Xbox community did, so i would have to change it. I hope I'm not the only person who finds this don't ask, don't tell policy disgusting... eek
