Why couldn't I "Connect to Xbox LIVE"?

Not sure about playing online, but I at least still had some issues with downloading. It kept saying 'unavailable' for the first few times I'd hit something, and then suddenly work. Also, there was a 50/50 shot it would be unable to complete the download the first time.

So, it ultimately works, but it's WAY more of a hassle than it should be.

I JUST got a 360 for X-mas and have had a TON of Xbox live problems. I guess I'm not the only one.. I was getting ready to replace my router to see if this was the issue (I already did the port forwarding but that didn't seem to help)

I assume they are getting hit hard from all the folks (like me) who just got an Xbox and are now hopping on live. But man, M$ really needs to get its act together, I know how great an Xbox live can be, but a lot of people may hit these roadblocks and decide its not worth it. I wouldn't exactly blame them for that.

is live still being shitty? I can't connect to xbox live, it says im logged in but it keeps "loading" on the xbox live and games blade....fuck im pissed again, i thought everything would be fine when i got back from vegas ;_;

I was playing CoD4 earlier and I got disconnected from the server. I don't know if that's the reason but I suspect it is.

I've had problems off and on for the last few days too. All I wanted to do was play some COD4 before winter break was over.... No such luck. :(

You're lucky the. Was good yesterday morning, shit when I tried last night. Seemed to be that way for most, as per the xbox forums.

Haven't had time to try today (and probably won't).

Down again.

I'm STILL having lag problems... I cannot play anything online without it being unbearable. A week of this is pitiful and highly irritating. I understand they spent nearly the entire holidays working on it, but it's hard to believe they didn't expect a total meltdown like this eventually, especially with all the new 360s out there now because of Christmas. I hope this is fixed long term, for a long, long time.

It sucks because a lot of people now aren't having problems at all, but yet I can't play anything without horrible lag, and the dash takes ages to load up, too.

I've been having problems for about a week and thought it was an ethernet cable or router issue on my end. I should have checked this forum! I can connect to live for about 10 mins. at a time before it disconnects. Very frustrating.
Can't wait until we all get a free code for Joust for this :bouncy:
Yuck.
Yuck.
Exactly. If they were to give us a game, why would they give us something good?

If not Joust, then I'd expect Robotron.

So, the online started working for me.

Then...HEHEHEHEHEHEHEAAADDD SHOTTT. My 360 red ringed...

sweet...

Dear Microsoft,
Suck on some donkeh balls.
Ty.

mine has been working now randomly, but then again ive just been playing oblivion, i played COD4 earlier, was able to play one game, next game gave me a "connection interrupted" jiggly and kicked me out, so i said fuck it..

ugh i should just reactivate WoW...

Don't forget Frogger or Contra!

I actually expect all golds will get a free month added to their account, wouldn't be bad at all. But for those of us that have Live on auto renew, that wouldn't make too much of a difference.

It seems my console locks up if I have signed into Live and I try to stream my music from the PC (custom soundtracks). I assume this is because of the issues they have been having, because it has never done this previously.

If I start the streaming process before signing in, it seems to work.

Then again, my console just froze while playing Half-Life 2...ugh. I surely hope this was due to me being on Live, and not my console beginning to crap out!

I've played over 20 call of duty matchs in the last few hours, no problems.
But I'm sure the problems will be in full force this weekend. Looks like the Wii is gonna get turned on.

MS better give everyone a code for one month of Live free at the *VERY LEAST* considering everyone pays for the service.
It's been working perfectly in the past two days for me.
Scratch that, I haven't been able to connect for most of today.

I'm about to hook up my box and see if I can get on. Maybe its a regional thing? AKA regional servers getting pwned while others aren't?

UPDATE: I just played 2 games of COD4. It gave me a little issue connecting to games, but other than that, seems to be working.

I still keep getting DCed during every other song in Rock Band. :/ I hope it's Live and not just my connection... never had any problems like this in any other game though.

COD4 only works for me in the middle of the night when there is no traffic... but during the day it cannot connect to any games... very aggravating. :(

Live is working great for me now.

As for CoD4, I have it for PS3 and it's really messed up right now (online). Don't know if that also affects the 360 version.

Worked fine tonight. Weird because we were having router problems the same week as LIVE was acting funky. LIVE seems to be working a lot better and our router problems were resolved tonight with some trial and error. Played COD4 for a bit and had some good fun.

I had the same exact problem last night. It's highly annoying.

It's humorous to me seeing how many people wanting free shit from this whole debacle. Yeah, I know its fair to us to be reimbursed for XBL being unforgiving, but we really have to end with "I DEMAND (insert random shit here) FOR FREE CUHZ OF DIS!"

if the problems persisted for a month or longer then I think the people who use Xbox Live Gold should be offered a free month or something reasonable

Actually I see no problem in people wanting compensation for this. When a service that you pay for is effectively rendered unusable due to circumstances beyond your control, I feel one is legitimately entitled to some form of reimbursement, contract extension, etc. I pay for Live so I can play games with other people, not so my system can lock up whenever it's plugged in.

I (and hopefully) others wouldn't be asking for things if this was the PS3 network.

Other major networks that have gone down (XM satellite radio, Blackberry network, etc.) have all offered (albeit paltry) compensation to their users. Live is in a position where they can easily offer a week of coverage or a free download without really "losing" any money. As a show of good faith, I hope they do so.

except it broke at the main time people wanted to use their service. Many people had a lot of time off and wanted to play with friends and family and they thwarted by the crappiness of the XBL servers. Most people won't have that much available time to play until the same time next year. Its like if your cable went out during the superbowl or something, you would expect the cable company to step it up for the outage.

Also, a lot of people just got their systems at Christmas. So for many of these people, this is their first experience with Live. It'd be a good PR move to compensate in some way; it would help ease parents' fears that they didn't just throw a bunch of money down the toilet.

Actually, my cable box broke during New Years last year and I don't think I was compensated for anything besides the 2-3 days I was without cable. So yes, MS should give everyone a week or two free (extended) to their GOLD accounts. I would assume MS will give people a month, that seems to be a common occurence, they gave me a month when I get my broke 360 back from RROD repairs.

I've had mixed experience with cable outages. Sometimes I just get the days credited. Other times they've thrown in something like 3 months free HBO for the troubles.

This is such BS. I couldn't play any of my XBLA games all week (except a game or two of Pac-Man CE and Uno) because of problems with Xbox Live. Only reason I am keeping my 360 is for Ninja Gaiden 2.

Heh, Lucas Kane has turned into a server application error on the other forum I have this sig on (which uses the Xbox Gamercard). Awesome.

This thread is pretty unnecessary.

This is getting ridiculous.

None of my blades (other than system) will load). CoD4 online a no go.

It's not just that it's been down so long, it's that MS hasn't came out and said shit about. No info on what the problem is. No info on when we can expect things to get back to normal.

But then again, it is MS, so we shouldn't expect anything resembling customer service. :bomb:

I just need to vent...right before the FALL update and right after, we all experienced a few LIVE/COD4 problems. Then right before Xmas and right after, through till today, we're still been having LIVE/COD4 problems. Seems like in the morning and late at night it's possible to get some games in, but god f-ing forbid you get some games in 3-10pm (obviously cause of a sh1t load of people on). Ridiculous, I've never really complained much bout LIVE, lucky to have it, but my good god this is getting out of hand. It's almost as if Gold members are getting shafted because ump-teen 1000's of people got xbox 360's w/LIVE and COD4 for Christmas. Microsoft really needs to do something about this in a faster manner then they are handling this right now. O-K, feel better now :]
