Why couldn't I "Connect to Xbox LIVE"?
I played about 10 hours over the weekend. On the 360. How about you?
Nowhere near 10 hours, but I didn't experience any lag, disconnect, or the myriad problems people are describing with XBL (save for my Double Dragon woes, but that's nothing worth getting upset about) in the 3 or so hours I did spend playing it.

10 hours in a weekend? No wonder I'm barely level 10 and everyone else seems to be 45+.

Another day and I'm completely unable to join any COD4 games. Anyone else having issues?

Frogger finally downloaded the update it needed, but it took 3 tries.

Same here.

Was fine from 6:45 to 7:40 or so. Then got kicked out of the lobby and couldnt' get into another match. Kept getting the "you must have an active network..." message again. :bomb:

Oh well, was getting ready to get off anyway. But still annoying that XBL if STILL having problems.

Friend and i tried to play some halo 3...didn't work. This is getting to the point that a free month of XBL is in order rather than a fucking game.

Why would you want a free month of something that doesn't work?
Why would you want a free month of something that doesn't work?
Because that's the only way to play against friends and family when they aren't over or vice versa.

it worked fine at 430 but when I tried again at 8 it blew whale balls. It is really inexcusable especially cause they are being completely silent on the issue.
Why would you want a free month of something that doesn't work?
Because they will get it fixed eventually, and we'd all like a free month where we can actually play online, to compensate us for the 3 weeks and counting of very limited service that we have paid for!

Blurb about the continued outaged posted on Kotaku a while ago.

Xbox Live Outage Watch 2008: Day 19 And the Xbox Live problems don't stop til the beat drops. After running Okayish for the last day or two, Xbox Live has once again frozen to a halt, with users complaining of everything from disappearing achievements to...well, everything else. Xbox.com is also currently displaying the now-familiar "Xbox Live Marketplace users may experience intermittent issues..." message. The lack of communication from MS over why this is happening, and when we can expect it fixed, is no longer annoying. It's fast becoming inexcusable.

Bolded part pretty much sums up the issue for me. MS really needs to start giving it's PAYING members some info on why the service we are paying for has been absolute shit for 3 weeks.
I haven't had any lag for the past few days. Seems like MS fixed it.
No way, it varies by user. Still screwed up....3 weeks later. This is outrageous.

My connection isn't too bad as of late, at least in comparison to its previous "NO LIVE FOR YOU!!!" status. However, I still have a good amount of lag when I play online and while it's not necessarily stiffiling, it does throw off most games to the point where unless I want to start getting frustrated I'm better off just playing something offline for a while.

I couldn't get into any COD 4 games last night, and I was really looking forward to it. I fired up Half Life 2 instead.

Well, i'm glad other people were having problems. I tried jumping on about 8:30est, and couldn't connect to a match. I was only going to play for a half hour or so, but still.

I haven't been effected too much overall playing this, but like most of the adults here, there just isn't that much time to play in a day, so when I can play, I like it ready to go. I don't have the option to play at 9am instead if it's too packed in the evenings.

Honestly, even though it's in their TOS that there's no guarantee, we should be getting the arcade game PLUS subscription reimbursement for the entire time Live was/is screwed up

Since this has been going on for almost 3 weeks, i would like to think MS will go ahead and give us a free month of XBL. If not, i'll be on the phone asking for mine.

I hope this happens, and then I can't wait until MS gives Silver members a free month of life too and Gold members go apeshit :)

That's one thing were gold members would have a reason to be annoyed.

The crappy servers can't handle the load now, imagine what giving all the Silver members a free month of Gold service all at the same time would do to them!

Its still f@cked up and I cant believe it but it seems worse the last few days then it did last week. I cant stand it and have been catching up on offline games after plugging into Live for a hour just to check things out each day. I hate how its effecting all of Live, Halo 3 and COD 4 sucked online.

Really? I've actually had no problems in the past 2.5 days. Even earlier today. Granted, I'm talking maybe 2 hours total play time, but matchmaking was fast and I didn't get "game lobby closed" errors. BTW, this is in CoD4.

Again tonight. I get in COD4, 2 matches are fine. The rest time out to the point where I can't connect to any games anymore.

I've switched over to the PS3 for the time being.

No love tonight. I lost count of how many times I got "game lobby closed" before even getting into a single match. I gave up and returned to Bioshock. Damn, that's one intense game! After nothing but CoD4 for the past few weeks, I'd forgotten how on edge that game makes me.

Yeah, I had problems again CoD4 tonight, so I've sidelined that and moved on to Mass Effect.

Will give that a slow, thorough play through in hopes that Live will be back to normal when I'm done and I can hop back in to CoD4.

Who's still having issues? I haven't tried playing on Live lately, but my Dashboard has been crap the past couple of days.

Blades either not loading at all, or taking for ever to come up (aside from Games and System).

I've been running Live nigh flawlessly for a week or so. COD4 will get bumpy for a few minutes here and there, but otherwise the experience has been perfect.

Games have been OK over the past week (some lag in Crackdown co-op, but not terrible), but the dashboard has been hella slow.

It appears to suck right now. I can't download new songs and it keeps saying I can't connect to live. Come on Microsoft hurry up and upgrade your circuits and servers!!!

I still wonder if they aren't under some kind of recurring denial of service attack, or if they got hacked and their having a hell of time dealing with the viruses uploaded or other damage done.

Seems like if it was just a server capacity issue due to the flux of new users over x-mas coupled with the hoards playing Halo 3 and CoD4 that they'd have that resolved by now. It's been almost a month, if it was a bandwith problem you'd think that would be more than enough time to add servers or whatever.

I just purchased my Xbox360 this afternoon played around with it a bit then tried to connect to Live and every time I try to create an account it gives me an error message saying they're aren't accepting new accounts at this time.

I've been reading about the outages for the past month but thought they were resolved. Guess I'll have to put Live off for another day.

The problem could be bandwidth rather than servers. Bandwidth is not usually a quick fix it can take 30 to 90 days depending on what is required.

But you'd think a company with the resources of MS could get it fixed MUCH faster. Especially given that they're a computer company.

Outage would make more sense if it's something they can't pinpoint, be it an attack, virus, or some weird server issues.

If it were an attack on their servers, I wouldn't really fault Microsoft (hell, their own OS isn't as secure as it could be), and would like the assailants castrated for the problems they caused us.

In any event, I have experienced this "Cannot connect to Xbox Live" issue near every day since Holiday Havoc 2007. For me, it's a nonissue as I eventually connect, but, ya know, this should be resolved. Soon would be best, considering the impression it will give to new subscribers.

I need some help. Now that I'm back at school (where I had no problems connecting last semester, after registering the console w/ my U) I am repeatedly failing the MTU test. I don't even totally know what this test is but it stands for Maximum Transmission unit. I've tried the test about 10 times now and it hasn't worked a single time.

Anyone know what I can do to get back onto Live?

This is kind of a stab in the dark, but is that something that your school's router could be setting differently for some reason? I don't know enough about it or why you'd change it...

I don't know much about this stuff so what would you recommend I do?
I don't know much about this stuff so what would you recommend I do?
You may need to manually set your MTU value on the xbox if it keeps failing. Generally the value is 1500 on most networks. Otherwise I'd call your ResNet (or whatever they call it at your University) and find out the MTU value of the network. If they won't give it to you, have them send a tech and fix it for you. It's what they're there for.

I still have issues of not being able to connect to live or it connecting very very slowly. Also, the 360 has frozen a few times when trying to connect to messanger, so I stopped trying that for the time being. Hopefully this is fixed soon.

Well, I've gone from a week of no issues, to now today not being able to connect again. The blades aren't loading at all.

Fantastic.

Ditto here, on the whole. It would come and go (but mostly "go") for me until I just gave up and shut it off.* This is inexcusable if it's because of the 'user strain' reason they say it is.

The hardware's faulty, the service we pay yearly for is faulty...

...are you reading this post, Strell?

*--But not before watching the latest Too Human SK video diary. Don't know how good the game will be, but it looks beautiful.

I had trouble with games yesterday. Game lobbies closing left and right. I did get a few games in but it was a challenge and I never had a game with the same people more than once. I also had some lag during the games. Is this *ever* going to be fixed? We're nearing a month now. My XBL is due for renewal on Feb. 14th. Hopefully by then.

Same here its actually been worse lately... in game anyway. I cant hear people and headshots are a thing of the past. When in the hell will this be fixed. Often its unplayable for me.
They can take their time, they gave us UndertTow FTW! ..........my LIVE been flawless for the past week
No, they can't. This is beyond ridiculous. Undertow? I don't give a fuck about Undertow. I just want to play online the games I cared enough about to buy.

Which providers are everyone using? I have Embarq and things have been smooth for a while now. Maybe the issues are with particular providers not being able to connect properly to Live?
