Probably so some affiliates wouldn't get all pissy like Best Buy did about the word ass being in Cheapassgamer, or maybe some people were just over using it. If people complained here about people making useless polls then it would be reasonable to assume that a barrage of fucks on a daily basis could get the same response. I'm just guessing though.

To be honest I like the censored version because the meaning is still implied yet it won't offend people. It's a reasonable compromise. On the rare occasion I do want to drop an f-bomb in real life I say shaq-fu instead. It's great cause I can say it around someone and they are like WTF? :lol:
 
Definitely. I'd say it's a CAG inside joke, or something... because I slipped and said it in front of my friends before, who were like... Whaaa? And I was just surprised that it slip and said "Nothing..." :lol:

I'm not a big fan. I think it's a ridiculous notion. Just like the censorship I see on my tv and hear on my radio (er, that's assuming I were to turn either of them on).
 
Can we just do the responsible thing and burn all of the books, censor all of the tv shows, and destroy all of the video games that could posible scare a child if they saw it? Or at least make the following modifications:

diddly-dang-darn-it instead of shit.
instead of blood, when people are hurt a pretty rainbow pours out.
when a couple are in love, they go to bed fully and tastefully clothed, and hold hands (none of that kissy stuff!)
 
I'm talking about here not radio or TV. The board here is quite relaxed compared to most I've seen. You can talk about almost anything here and really the only curse word that has been altered is the f-word and racial slurs. To be honest there are few times where cursing has gotten out of hand here and I think that is due to the fact that the rules aren't overly restrictive.

It simply cannot be all restrictive or all free because that would be fair to no one. Some compromise is necessary, especially in a large community.

But they can't post a pic of someone eh, fucking someone. There is balance in that regard. I don't think most people would want to see a giant wang when they open a page here.

I like an imbalance in my favor. Censorship sucks in any form, but I don't decry the freedoms that I'm granted.

This site rules in terms of freedom of speech. The rest of the net should follow it's example.

Also, we have all censored someone else in our lifetimes so that is a bit hypocritical in itself. Anyone who has told someone else to shut up is guilty of this. We have all told told someone to shut up for saying less than the f-word despite the fact they have the right to speak.

Imbalance in one's favor is always nice but I also try to remember when it isn't in my favor.

Well yeah but still I think the content or content of people's posts is a lot worse then the actual word fuck itself sometimes. So if anybodys gonna rant about censoring for the kids or whatever, then swearing isn't/shouldn't really be the problem, that's all I was trying to say.

I must admit, the pornography threads were definitely out of line, especially considering we have so many younger members here; off the top of my head, xboxmaster, DZ, etc.

Since the word "fu**" is pretty much only used in R movies, we could implie you need to be adult- or near adult-aged to use the word. Since porn is also on the adult side, it should also be banned to be talked on this board. Joking about it softly is alright, but taking it too far as to joking about beastiality and "necrophilia" *looks at dcfox* is just bizarre.

Because most other threads don't exceed 500 posts in a short period of time. Some of the older ones exceeded 2000 posts. Stop whining. You'll probably have your chat-threads back after Christmas. Until then, just respect Cheapy's decision and wait.
 
Not really, I see a crapload of threads go over 500 in a short period of time in this forum, and I'm pretty sure only one topic has EVER gone over 2k, which was the original, so don't blow things out of proportion.

There's a difference between sensitivity and stupidity, jackass. All I was saying is that there's random sport topics that go for 20+ pages and retarded ass threads in here that are allowed to continue for however long, yet if anyone is taken slightly off-topic in another thread, all hell breaks loose and everyone gets so fucking uptight. Why is everyone so effing over-sensitive is right. And I'm done with this topic, because this whole site shouldn't even be bothered with or else chaos ensues. That's why I never go on anymore.
 
Yes let's take the biggest threads that have created the best sense of community here on CAG and ban them because they're too fucking popular.

I know OTTs put alot of strain on the server, but that's the price you pay to have a board that people actually want to visit.

The off-topic forum is just a consolation so the rest of the legitimate boards don't get all crapped up by stupid threads. I enjoy some of the threads here, but this isn't primarily a social site and to keep the useful parts of it running smoothly sacrifices to the worthless parts have to be made. I suggest not defining your life by personal postcount or popularity of threads created. You can stockpile blubbering then for more serious grievances then.

As for the South Park episode, did you watch it all the way to the end? The whole point was that Mormons are pretty decent people, despite their odd religious beliefs and that Stan was a dick for not wanting to be the kid's friend just because of it.
