i just bought a wii so i must ask, what are the must have accessories for the wii?

i think i am interested in buying a carrying case for my wii so i can take it all over the place, so which one is the best carrying case? which one would you guys recommend?

Naki, Nyko, and ASL make carrying cases specifically for the Wii. The ASL ones are officially licensed and have the Nintendo and Wii logos. I would like to know what you guys are using as well because my roommate takes his out all the time and I was thinking about buying him one. The ASL ones certainly look the nicest.

Controller gloves.

I cannot stress this enough. Even if you get 4 remotes, like I did, that's a 40 dollar investment that can save you a ton in the long run. Hell, they will have paid for themselves the first time you let go of the remote and it slams onto the floor. Absolutely essential.

Oh, and component cables, even without an HDTV.
What is the purpose of the controller glove, exactly?
Better grip (they are rubber or sometimes neoprene), and to add a little cushioning from impact. Also, if you have multiple remotes/nunchuks, using different colors can help you keep Controller 1 separate from Controller 2, and so forth and so on.

I think I've seen different types / brands on gloves. What are the best ones? Which ones work well to get off for battery changing?

He also has Wii Sports covers for sale for a low low price. PM him for more info!

controller gloves for sure, nintendo has a "sling bag" that pretty much rocks too. an sd memory card(not nintendo brand of course). good stuff.

O god...really? I dont see it on my list.

Gotta throw in another nod to the controller gloves... they're great!

Other than that, get a cheap SD card and rechargeable batteries! The Wii-mote eats up AA's, and a couple sets of NiMH's will more than pay for themselves in no time.

I second (or third or fourth, whatever) the controller gloves. They're fantastic.

I used a gift card and got the official Wii messenger bag a few days ago at Target:

http://www.amazon.com/A-L-S-Industries-NW180-Wii-Messenger/dp/B000KMO7T8

It's really nice, great padding, a special zippered compartment for the sensor bar, etc. You're not going to have a lot of room for more than the system and controllers and maybe a game wallet, though. Also, Target has the same bag in a Zelda design -- pretty cool but I chose the generic Wii bag.

Does anyone here have the sling bag? How much does it hold? Reviews seem to be all over the place, with some saying it holds a lot, while others can only fit the accessories in.

Yeah, no kidding - I didn't realize everyone was using the gloves. We all tallked about it before launch but I didn't think anyone actually bought them. For me they are too expensive - I'll pick some up when they go on clearance.

Speaking of which, I noticed the Wii carrying bags (the ones with Zelda logos on them) on clearance at two different Targets tonight. Originally $35 or $40, marked down to $28 or so. I have no use for a Wii bag, though I'll pick one up if they go under $10. But this might be a particularly timely piece of info for the OP as I'm not sure how long they will last.

some reviews of travel cases and other wii acessories would be much appreciated... especially before i buy something

and thanks to all for the feedback on which acessories to buy and such

rechargable batteries are the must have accessory. You can get cheaper if you go for a lesser charger, but I got 4 AA's (2500's) with a 1 hour charger for $21 shipped at Amazon

i say an extra power supply, sensor bar and av cables if you're taking your wii on the go (sounds funny doesn't it?)

I'm not sure about others, but all my cables are behind my entertainment center and it's a hassle to take my wii over someone elses place (still can't dump the potty thoughts when mentioning taking my wii somewhere)
You want this travel case.
Oh that is sweet, Strell... thanks for linking to it again as I missed it the first time! I'm going on an... extended working vacation, for lack of a better word, soon, and I need something to tote the Wii safely in the car... can't believe how much the thing holds! sheesh!

Anyone have any information on the Nyko Wii Mote Charger?

Gamestop has a link to it here. http://www.gamestop.com/product.asp?product%5Fid=802574

I check out Nyko's site and they don't even have it on they're site. Amazon.com continues to delay it weekly. It was originally slated on Gamestop as a 1/23 release. They're delay it by a week every time they're original date fails. I am interested in this, so it can be a charge station next to my 360s quick charge kit. I don't wanna deal with rechargable batteries, rather just go this method.

If anyone has any information it be great. Thanks

Not bad, I wish Nintendo had something like this out on day one.

I am in direct contact with Nyko. They sent me a bunch of accessories for review already and more to come. I will let you know when I have information regarding the charging station for the Wii. I am getting it for review once released along with PS3 charging station.

Its new. I havent seen them anywhere as well. I dont know who makes them yet. I just know thats its from a 3rd party manufacturer, probably DragonPlus or PEGA. They are not official for the Wii

If all those gloves do is give you a place to stick the controllers onto, you might as well just tape them to your hands yourself.

Strong Bad E-Mail joke.

well i finally bought a wii carrying case for my wii...

i bought this one:
http://www.amazon.com/A-L-S-Industries-NW180-Wii-Messenger/dp/B000KMO7T8/sr=1-3/qid=1170793263/ref=sr_1_3/002-1626690-5463234?ie=UTF8&s=videogames

all i have to say is that it fits the console and cables ok but nothing else... everything is too packed in there that u cant fit anything else in there besides the console, so i wouldnt reccomend this carrying case unless you want to carry all your extra games and controllers in another separate bag like i had to... ya i ended up returning it to target also

my girlfriend has a small laptop messenger bag that fits the wii, cables, 4 wii motes, and 2 games (in their original cases) comforably. The bag fits up to a 14" widescreen laptop. It's a pretty old bag but it does the trick. Not sure what the brand is, I think she got it at best buy a couple of years ago.

I bought the Gpak based on Strell's review. There are some things I like about it and some that I don't. If definitely makes it easy to set up at a friend's house because I don't have to completely remove it from the case. It also holds everything I need it to! One thing I don't like about it is how the weight of the Wii causes the shelf it sits on to flex after a while. I do like the style of it though and I don't feel like a little kid carrying around a little case that says "Wii" on the side. Overall I would say this is the best case out right now for the Wii, even though it does have some flaws.

P.S. One more thing I like that I forgot to mention. I don't own the Xbox 360 Gpak, but with this one I can take out the Wii shelf and move the pads and then I can use it to tote my 360 as well, nice!
