Not HD, just component to get progressive scan. Turns your 480i to 480p. IIRC Nintendo ones are around $25-30 on Nintendo's site but its been awhile since I ordered them. Or get some from monoprice.com under $10. CAGs say they are great.
i didn't see much difference when i plugged in the monoprice component cables, but after using them a couple days and switching back to AV, i couldn't go back
My first nintendo wii all it ever did was give errors. The one I had now gave its first error about a disc saying remove the disc, and turn off the system. Is it a sign of it messing up completely or does it happen every once in a while?
I would just go to the Nintendo support site and look up or provide them with the detailed error messages and see what they say.
Just out of curiousity. Do you live with smokers?
Nope. It is the weirdest thing I'm really picky with my consoles, and never move them. The wii is the one that gives me the most trouble. Hopefully it want do it again.
I've seen it before. I think it just pops up occasionally. Taking the disc out and putting it back in does the trick. I think a spec of dust just happens to land in the right spot making it go to error. I have a launch Wii and probably have seen it 2 or 3 times since owning it. Probably not something to be concerned with unless it happens all the time.
Here's a list of "just OK" to "great" titles geared for girls/kids on the Wii. My recommendations have the "*":
Action Girlz Racing
Bee Movie Game
Big Brain Academy: Wii Degree
Bratz: The Movie
*Carnival Games
Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian
*Cooking Mama: Cook Off
Crash of the Titans
Dewy's Adventure
EA Playground
Elebits
Hannah Montana: Spotlight World Tour
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
High School Musical: Sing It
*Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore
*Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Mario Party 8
My Horse & Me
MySims
Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots
Petz: Catz 2
Petz: Dogz 2
Petz: Horsez 2
Pokemon Battle Revolution
Rayman Raving Rabbids
Rayman Raving Rabbids 2
Sega Superstars Tennis
Shrek the Third
Sims 2: Castaway
Sims 2: Pets
SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab
SpongeBob's Atlantis SquarePantis
Spyro: The Eternal Night
Wario Ware: Smooth Moves
I second Warioware. Super Mario Galaxy is such a good game and universally enjoyable for probably anyone. I'm 23 and the way that game messes with physics makes me giggle like an idiot. It's not too hard either. My sister has a Sims game where you are castaway on an island and she loves that one.

If you haven't played it or wouldn't play it yourself, don't suggest it to someone else. Why give her a copy of Spice World if she asked for a DVD when something like PotC would suffice?
Super Paper Mario - It's a love story.
Super Mario Galaxy - Doesn't need elaboration.
Endless Ocean - It's a non-game that is not crap.
Trauma Center New Blood
Zack and Wiki
Virtual Console Gift:
NES
Kirby's Adventure
Star Tropics
Yoshi's Cookie
SNES
Breath of Fire 2
Donkey Kong Country
N64:
Paper Mario
Star Fox 64
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Genesis:
Beyond Oasis
Dynamite Heady
Ristar
Wonder Boy In Monster Land

Yea great stuff. I would second the Cooking Mama: Cook Off. Most girls nowadays idea of cooking is opening a box from the freezer and sticking it in the microwave. And they actually believe they can cook!.
And if we can learn anything from the politicians who run our country (into the ground) its that whatever video game you play will have a deep impact on what you do in real life. You kill in video games means you will 100% likely kill in real life. You cook in a video game and yea, you get the point.

If only Majesco would release an companion cleaning/innuendo disc; "Shut Up, Vaccuum and Suck It!"
My niece - pretty close to your cousin's age, I think - is a fan of Raving Rabbids, so that could be a safe choice. My sister (much older) and wife like MySims, so that might be a decent pick, too.
My cousin is about 12 years old and she came over for the holidays and loved
Mario and Sonic at the Olympics and Wii Sports.
I also bought her Cooking Mama for DS two years ago and she loved that too. So I would recommend Cooking Mama: Cook Off.
She only has a PS2 right now and loves the Singstar games so my final recommendation is Karaoke Revolution Presents: American Idol Encore. She is also hoping to get a wii for her birthday.

thanks for the suggestions (especially ctice for that list)
I saw Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games actually in CC sunday circular.. and figured.. how can you go wrong with mario and sonic. Since its on sale for 30.. i'll take a look at the list and see what other game i can get her.
My roommates and I love Mario & Sonic - it's much more fun with 2+ people. My only complaint is that you can only unlock new events/circuits in SINGLE PLAYER MODE. What were they thinking?
I've looked this up and it seems to be that there may be too many people trying to download the new update to the Wii...my question, is has anyone else encountered this lately? I have a D-Link router that works with no problems at all with getting my DS on wi-fi...just wondering since I just got a Wii today!
EDIT: Had to change my router's "channel" number and it downloaded the update perfectly...so this can be closed
Check out the FAQ(there's a link to it in the second sticky now). It's called obscure facts, or something like that but it's pretty comprehensive regarding setup and problems. Props to Strell for putting that all together, btw.
The Resident Evil shooter was way too hard for me. Are Ghost Squad and House of the Dead comparable? It's looking like Ghost Squad might be cheap later today, so thought I should find out.
I kind of enjoyed Virtua Cop 2 back on the Saturn, but haven't played light gun games since then (aside from RE, which I hated).
Ghost squad was strangely hard to get for me. I had to drive to another state to get it (well it was only 20 miles away). But all the stores within a 10 mile radius; about 20 stores, didn't carry ghost squad for some reason.
anyway, ghost squad was really easy, the extras are really fun. Like you can shoot bikini chicks with a water gun or you can throw stars at ninjas
cant tell you about house of the dead 2 and 3, but they are both available on amazon.com. HotD is only 20 bucks too.
