Wii Fit - Gen. Discussion & Info - What's your Fit age?

i understand everyones comments about this, they are marketing like it can be your primary form of weight loss, but anyone with common sense should know that you should be doing this in addition to your regular routine if u have one, additionally this is gonna be an instrument to help someone just get into the mind state of working out and making it fun and enjoyable, if you plan on buying it solely to lose a ton of weight that alone is pretty foolish, but if u decide to buy it because you feel like it can be useful to get you moving in the right direction as far as weight loss goes, than by all means go for it.

Oh I'll guarantee you there will be tons of success stories coming a month after the release. Basically you take a person who doesn't do anything physical (the target audience) and you let them sweat on the balance board daily, then they'll lose a few pounds. They can eat the same and everything but just that small addition of excersize will give the target audience "results".

Just like Wii Sports, how many fattys lost weight playing that? That gave the Wii so much more media attention.

which is exactly what they want. its about introducing exercise to the obese population which is most of america. anything is an improvement for people who dont do anything physical during the day, and if it gives them a better self image or makes them feel better about exercise then it will be good for that.

That's what I've been saying since the beginning!! I want my claim to fame being I LOST 80lbs USING Wii Fit!!!11 :bouncy:

I never pre-ordered, but I may go out on Wednesday just to see if anyone has it. Like I said before, I am not going to break my back looking for this game. If it's there I'll get it, if not.. feh.

I know not to say "I'll wait for a price drop" because I doubt that won't happen for a good few years..if EVER.

Just hold up a pair of giant jeans in a picture standing next to Wii Fit. That would actually be really hilarious. Besides, you're waaay too handsome to need to lose 80 lbs. You sure could lose the attitude though!!!

Actually you really should do that. Go to goodwill and buy a giant pair of jeans (or use the ones that used to fit you.. OOOH BURN NUMBAR TOO) and take a picture with Wii Fit. Do so only a week within release to show off the instant results. Submit it to Kotaku, Joystiq, Gaygamer (get it?) etc and be prepared for your 5 minutes of fame.

All CAGs should do this. If you're buying Wii Fit please purchase a giant pair of jeans on your way home and take a photo of yourself. Even if you're a tubby CAG, buy an extra giant pair of jeans and take a picture. If this thing is going to blow up, we might as well be responsible.

Then those who aren't buying it can take pictures of themselves holding smaller jeans they used to fit in next to their PS360.

If we can get a group of CAGs to do this...and we all "lost weight" we could be the FIT ASS GAMERS

HOOOORAY, WE CAN BE F.A.GS!!!! :D
My local gamestop called me letting me know they were getting some extra of these in and asked me if I wanted one so Wednesday I pick mine up :).
I'm slated for my GS's 2nd shipment which is Friday the 23rd. I'm hoping that maybe I'll get a similar call so I can get mine on Wednesday and get to try it out. I'm supposed to go away for the Memorial Day Weekend and I know it'll be a long weekend knowing that my WiiFit is sitting at home wanting to be used!

All we need are Cheapy and Wombat on board so they can advertise this on the CAGcast. Then in the CAGbag section they can discuss the CAG F.A.G. of the week.

Shout out to mykevermin for his subway thread. Ever since he posted it I've been laughing to myself about people holding up giant jeans.

I'M IN.

I didn't preorder. Wasn't going to get it. Don't need to lose weight. Don't give a crap about hippies and their Yoga.

Then I bought We Ski. Then I realized I could use the $10 Best Buy coupon. Then I remembered that I cannot live without every weird Wii accessory. My Best Buy claimed they would have extra copies when they opened on Wednesday. I will go and if I have time to get FAT PANTS that day I will post right away. I might have to wait a day or two to get them though because of stupid work.

Stupid work, I hate that you are getting in the way of my becoming a F.A.G..

Oh, how is We Ski? Think it'll be good on the balance board?

Anyone who reads this thread and buys Wii Fit HAS to now find a pair of big jeans ASAP and post their pics.

We can call that thread "Wii F.A.GS"

^^^^If I HAVE to then ok....I'll be a CAG F.A.G. too My landlord/roommate weighs a good amount, I've got big ol' jeans galore in this house....awesome

Just picked mine up at Nintendo World - I imagine I'll be ten pounds lighter by tomorrow. The thing is quite heavy btw - maybe 6 or 7lbs I'd guess.

The Ski jump is great fun. Very simple but fun.

Yoga seems very good although I'm not a Yoga person. Gonna try the strength training now.

^^^ no actually it runs off a new technology that absorbs the static electricity from your feet to power the unit....better than the hampster-running-on-a-wheel idea they scrapped to generate power
What's with the Madcatz Wiifit battery that Fry's is selling for $20? Does the board need batteries?
The board uses 4 AAs as it isn't wired. No reason why you can't use your regular rechargeables instead of that thing.

I've gotta say that WiiFit seems to be better than I was expecting. I ordered it mainly for the wife but I can see myself doing this regularly. I just played for about 45 mins and I feel pretty much like I do after playing DDR for a similar amount of time. Got a pretty good sweat going.

The boards works really well and most of the events were far more fun than I thought they would be.
Thanks for early impressions, natureboy46. Thumbs up on We Ski?
Nintendo World was sold out of We Ski so I didn't get it...but the skiing in WiiFit is fun

I have We Ski but haven't played it yet - I was waiting for the board. Are you using your board on carpet? If so, does it seem stable? Our carpet is pretty soft.

yeah it feels pretty stable. I'm using it on a pretty plush rug, under which is hardwood floor. The board comes with additional footpads to give it an extra half inch or so in height. I imagine if you use these then you shouldn't have any problems. The board itself is really solid - it never felt like it was going to slip or slide.

Natureboy, I want to congratulate you. I can tell by your text that by playing Wii Fit you are peeking your thinnest and healthiest ever! :applause:

Hey jerk! Don't forget its my idea! fuck BMI. I'm starting a new fad - Big Jean Index - BJI for the cool kids. You can be the spokes model but I'm the founder of this new system! Don't worry, you'll always be the number one BJ-er in my book! (and my heart)

I also can't wait to start the CAG F.A.G.s thread of BJ pics!!! :whee:

This is worth it just because it is a scale. But there is no way I am not getting at least 10 bucks off.

If you're lucky, you can get it at Blockbuster for $25
If you're lucky, you can get it at Blockbuster for $25
Huh? Please explain. Did I miss something?

Well, I have it, that was fast.

I'm assuming my wife and I will give it a go tonight since we'll be unpacking the basement/game room.

Oh, and just a heads up for those of us with storage issues - I think that's almost everyone. The WiiFit channel takes up 106 blocks and the game save is 8 blocks.

The channel allows you to weigh yourself etc. without having the game in the console. I've installed it for now but if you plan on using WiiFit everyday then it might not be necessary.
i am wondering if the 24 hour walmart superstores will have them for release at midnight
There's been no confirmation, but I'm assuming that they will be. All conjecture, but I'd have to guess that stores already have at least *some* shipments of these already, so there's no reason you shouldn't be able to get one at midnight.

This is a weird one... it's a big release, but not for the people who would typically show up for a midnight thing, which is why I think there's a lot of confusion about it. I mean, even though I will, I'm still going to feel a little silly going to pick up a Wii fitness game at midnight, you know? Like I just couldn't wait for it.

So, unless anyone confirms that stores HAVE NOT received these yet, I'd imagine you'll be able to get one at a 24 hour Wal-Mart.

My Target has had them in the stock room for well over a week

Okay, so day 2. Just finished for the day, racking up 50 fit credits, and I'm quite tired.

You get a credit for every minute or so that an exercise lasts - unfortunately it is based on time and not difficulty but what can you do. With the daily weigh-in etc. it took me 1hr 22minutes (according to the Wii message board) to get those 50 credits.

Here's the thing about the fitness. If you just do the balance games you have no chance to lose weight or get in better shape. BUT, if you do the yoga, strength training and aerobics then I see no reason why you couldn't lose some weight.

For example, unless you're in peak condition you will be knackered by the time you finish the hula hoop - especially the Super Hula Hoop that you unlock. Sure, you won't need to sit down for ten minutes afterwards but you will feel the burn - same thing goes for most of the strength stuff.

Well I'm fucked. The hula hoop mini game in WW wears me out, I'll be dead by the second day with this.

Hows the jogging game?

The jogging game is kinda weird as it isn't easy to run on the spot. Still, if you can master that then it works well - you have to keep pace with a Mii who is in front of you and jogging at a pretty slow pace. I just unlocked the longer course so I'll do that one tomorrow.

One other point to note is the Mii integration. It's great. Just what you'd expect. They feature in just about every event that isn't yoga/strength (you have the trainer for those). There is just something funny about doing the jogging and having Kim Jong-Il there to cheer you on, or having Ron Jeremy and Chuck Norris kick soccer balls at you.

Oh, and you are screwed with the hula - it's about 1000 times more tiring than WW

Anxiously awaiting the UPS truck as we speak. But basically I just want to tell natureboy46 to get a real avatar, like mine :)
