Some people have been asking about preordering the Wii. Right now there are two confirmed locations about where one can jump on the boat early.

Do people really bring out portable generators and actual home consoles? Thats really crazy. I was planning on bringing a few of my DSs and just playing that, and offering others to play.

I've never camped out or been to a midnight launch, and I'm hoping that Wii will be my first one. I mean, I want to experience it sometime in my early life.

I know its a good idea to get there really early, but what else should a n00b know? Haha.
 
I tired to pre-order after the e3 05 at gamestop couldn't, tried after E3 06 couldn't, tried after price, launch date was announced no pre-order, no other store is also takening pre-orders yet ethier :(
 
LOL - I step away from the boards for a day and all this drama over the Wii pre-order. Thanks CheapyD for updating the OP and I hope we will get some actual, nation wide pre-order info soon. 'Cause right now the only thing this thread is giving is heartburn.
 
I went to the only FYE in Albuquerque, NM--the guy at the register said they weren't taking pre-orders on the Wii.

I got in very early...arrived to work at 6am and ordered!!!! I should be one of the first who ordered. I did not see postings on forums until I had placed my order. I gave the heads up on another forum.
 
I just went to a fye at the mall (which is directly below eb). I asked them if they were taking preorders. They said yes. I asked them where I would be on the list if I signed up. They said there was currently no one on the list. You read that last sentence correctly. I am currently #1 on the reserve list at FYE!!!!!!!

It is really awesome and all but I have little faith in them. Still it seemed worthwhile to sign up just in case.

I went to one here in Alexandria, VA and they took my pre-order. The girl at the register didn't know what I was talking about at first, but found a SKU for it in the computer and let me pre-order. So, I think because the confirmed details are fairly recent, they haven't given any hard information to their employees.
 
I called my local FYE and I am going to go down there later today. I will be number 7. They said they didn't gurantee getting one at launch or before Christmas and didn't know how many they would get in until a little bit before launch date.

Does anyone that works at FYE know something?
 
this may just be my crazy imagination, but I feel like all the hardcore people are gonna be jumping on these early reserve offers and Ill be able to walk into WalMart as they are stocking them and get one, but who knows I guess.
 
I have decided to wait for both the Wii and the PS3. The 360's went really quick, but less than a year later they are dropping a bit below launch price.

I talked to a few people in my local TRU, they said that there's no official word as to when a preorder would start, if one would start. My store isn't doing a pre-pre-order list, though.
 
Question, if I lost my receipt, can I still pick up the system at FYE? Or can I still get a refund....?

Oh man, I'm so stupid...where the heck did I put my receipt...
 
I'm hoping to walk right into the wal-mart here at midnight and pick it off the shelf too. I live in a fairly small hick town and cant really see many people after this around here. There is an EBgames I preorder my ds-lite with no probs. Who knows.
 
As far as the Gamestop/EB Games preorders go, I ended up talking to my DM today and he was saying that they should start tomorrow. And he also mentioned that the trade thing isn't going to happen. I hope it ends up being true, so we can get our preorders for the console out of the way.

Just the opposite for me. I talked to the people at EB and they said they have no idea when the preorder is of the Wii and havent heard anything,
 
I honestly think this preorder madness may be overblown. Unless you live in a BIG city it may be very easy to just walk in on Nov 19 during the middle of the day and pick one up. But I'm still not taking chances.
 
Anyone know if you buy the system at Walmart if they offer some sort of replacement plan or something? I don't mind paying a few bucks for peace of mind, but my town don't have anything but a Walmart and a Kmart. I don't want to have to drive an hour to hit up another store if I may not have to.
 
Really I don't mind if I have to wait a couple weeks for a Wii or Zelda. But I'm not sure about taking my chances because I wouldn't want to wait for 07.
 
Just in case for tommorrow at GS/EB is the trade in 3 get an extra $10 in credit still going on? Is there an exclusion list?
 
man I NEED to get zelda on launch day. zelda will consume my life, and just the thought of people buying wii's to sell on ebay while im at home sulking and not playing zelda sickens me. hahahaha

ill just get to walmart at like noon on the 18th, do some quantum mechanics and wait it out.

Edit: Man, november is going to be great. Final Fantasy 12 on Oct 31, and then Zelda on the 19th.. life is good
 
I suppose I will have to call over to EB tomorrow morning, might need to make a lunch-time run to get a preorder in if allout's DM is correct.

Just got back from my local FYE. I preordered a Wii without a problem. Came out to be $54 something after tax and I was the 6th person in line. The guy there seemed to know what he was talking about and said that he wouldn't have any more information (how many they're getting in, if they're getting them in on launch) until probably late October. He also said that they couldn't gurantee them for Christmas or anything like that. I'm guessing if they DO get them in on launch, they will have more than 6 because of how many Nintendo is making. Wasn't 6 the minimum of how many 360s a store got at launch? If he calls and tells me they won't get any by launch, I can always get my refund and go hunting around for one. Anyone else have an FYE preorder story?

Man, I cannot wait for the Wii. Holiday season, here we come...

Two of my GameRushes that I got my PSP at had over a dozen about a week after launch.

only in certain areas, but it was widely available nationwide. i remember buying mine a week after it was released by just walking into a gamestop and asking for one.
 
EB/GS doing preorders would definitely be news to me. There's been no e-mails coming in to my store about preorders and we've been telling people October.

not the worst company out there 5.85 reseller rating... I wouldn't risk it though odds are they won't get that many systems also they will charge your card before shipping

Every FYE preorder story will be different because every FYE is different. Stores that are further away from other FYE's get more systems than stores that aren't. Stores that are more focused on video games than music/dvds get more systems than stores that aren't. Judging by the numbers, Nintendo seems to be intent on sending a majority of the 4 million Wii's to North America, so I don't think there will be a major problem here like there was with the 360--FYE got a small number of those.

Oh, I sort of forgot about the GameCube. With my Advance SP and DS Lite, I don't have a need for the Gameboy Player. I should really sell my GameCube SOON, while it's still worth a few pennies.

Yes that would totally suck if they just closed out ur moolash. I'm gonna be heading to the EBgames here after work to see what's going on as far as trading stuff in.
