OP updated.
C'mon, next week. 3 games. C'mon. We just HAVE to get back on that!! Personally, with the addition of another console (NEOGEO) I would of thought that they would started giving us 4 games per week.
I compare Zelda 2 to Mario 2. Both are black sheep in the franchise, but are still amazing games. Zelda 2 reminds me a bit of Castlevania, so that may be why I love it.

I can't wait to pick up Super Street Fighter 2. I've been holding off on getting any SF game until this came out.
I actually love SMB2 for NOT being the exact same game as every other Mario...plus having one of the best end sequences ever.

Hey...and whatever happened to C64 games?

Got Super SFII today and the first Lolo. I must admit SSFII is pretty awesome, but I myself think the music and sounds are not as good as the Genesis version of SFII (special champion edition).

Then again while SSFII is awesome I fucking suck at it

I actually seem to remember the Genesis version having awful crackling noises. Can't be sure, though, as I only tried it once or twice at a friend's house.

just got Super SF with the last of my Wii space......

Anyways, it seems like it's much slower than I remember. The slowdown is unbearable at parts. Was it always like this or is the port just crappy?

It was always like that. I remember when it first came out, I bought it from Costco and sold off SFII Turbo. The slowdown and weak audio pissed me off enough to return it within a week and repurchase Turbo.

Virtual Console emulation appears to be perfect in almost every example. While that can be a good thing for purists, it also means that any unfortunate technical limitations or glitches remain as well.

Even though it gives me a dirty feeling, I think I might turn to PC emulation. Why can't Nintendo support things free emulators had years before Nintendo?

With another Street Fighter being released I have a question.
There was one Street Fighter game that I loved. It was for SNES. But I don't remember which version it was...nor do I remember what it had (as in new characters or not, )

I think it was Super Street Fighter II: Turbo. What was this version? For some reason, it's ringing a bell.

Also fei long has the most perverted victory dance ever

2.
Funny thing is, that roster from the second one is what I have for XBLA--and that;s "Street Fighter II Hyper Fightin'"...are HF and "Super Street Fighter II Turbo" the same game? :dunce:

The third one is the game we just got today, since I noticed the new characters. What game is the first one???

Hyper Fighting and Turbo are indeed one and the same. Officially, Hyper Fighting is the arcade version's name and Turbo is the console version's name. But many know the game by the console name because of its immense popularity.

The first picture is of the original version of SFII, The World Warrior, which didn't allow you to play as the bosses nor allow two players to choose the same character.

Hmmm.
So why do we have "Street Fighter II Hyper Fighting" on the VC? If that's supposed to be called "SUPER Street Fighter II"

I think this is where I got confused back in the day.. when Street Fighter became "Super" (Though, maaany SNES games were 'Super')

Now what versions did the Genesis have? The same ones with the same names...???

I'm sorry, I misread your previous post just enough to screw things up.

Here's how it goes:

Street Fighter II: The World Warrior
Street Fighter II: Champion Edition - playable bosses and allowed same character to be selected by both players
Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting (aka SFII Turbo and SFII Special Champion Edition) - added moves, notably air hurricane kicks and Chun-Li's fireball
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - added 4 new characters and new moves for many
Super Street Fighter II Turbo - added super moves and Akuma

The SNES got The World Warrior, Hyper Fighting (renamed Turbo), and The New Challengers. The Genesis received Hyper Fighting (renamed Special Champion Edition).

Very nice. Thank you for that info :)
So I wonder why World Warrior, Hyper Fighting, and The New Challengers were released and not Champion Edition? I mean, from what it looks like.. Champion edition IS the World Warrior but.. with bosses'! ;) So I wonder why they didn't use THAT instead..

The game I'm thinking about must have been REGULAR Street Fighter II Turbo. For some reason, I don't remember Akuma. (I know who he is..but I don't remember him in the game that I was playing a lot.. but I could be wrong  ). What were the super moves??? I think that should ring a bell or not if the game I'm thinking about was SUPER or not!

When SFII: The World Warrior was ported to SNES, the Champion Edition had just come out in the arcades. By the time Capcom was ready to do another port, Hyper Fighting had already come out. So Champion Edition was skipped. But the SNES SFII Turbo and the Genesis SFII Special Champion Edition contain the Champion Edition (selectable from the main menu as the "normal" mode).

The super moves are the ones where you have to build up a meter and then perform a complicated motion in order to execute a devastating attack. The action pauses for a second to acknowledge the ensuing attack and the characters are followed by shadows during the length of the move. Usually, the super moves were performed by doubling the motions of a special move, e.g. down-to-forward + down-to-forward + punch. If you defeated someone using a super move, there was a bright sunray effect that flashed onscreen, too.

It must be Super SFII: The New Challengers that you remember and not Super SFII Turbo because the latter didn't receive a console port until the 3DO!

My friend had that one! Wow, that looked great. I'm sure it was worth the $700 console, too.

As far as I can tell, none of the VC systems had Super SSFII Turbo, right?

Wasn't there another game for SNES.. Street Fighter II Turbo: Revival?

Anyway, it looks like Japan only got one game today. I am not confirming anything as no one has said anything in other forums or on blogs, and this is going according to Japan's VC list on Wikipedia.

Devil World - NES - 500 Points.

It looks neat. I wish they would let us import this game. IMO, it would be a good idea for Nintendo to do so because the Devil in Devil World is an Assist Trophy in Brawl.

Devil_World_screenshot.png
I think it's pretty likely that we'll get Devil World, seeing as the Devil's in Brawl and Miyamoto designed it.
While those things help, the religious iconography doesn't, since this is something NoA is notoriously edgy about.

I don't know if their standards have relaxed or not, but generally anything with crosses and such doesn't get a go-ahead in the states.

They could alter the sprites and release it, and while that might be okay, it would seriously make me angry based on the whole "we intend to keep the games as they were" schtick, which is what Ninty pulls out when we complain that the VC doesn't match emulators on the PC that give us online multiplayer and the like.

I'd rather they focus on all the games everyone already definitely wants, like Pro Wrestling, Earthbound, and Mario RPG.

I can't wait for the 1080p version of xbox's SF game. It will hopefully be awesome. I am a diehard SF fan, but I really can't handle the slowdown anymore. Maybe I just need to purchase Turbo afterall. That was always my favorite anyways.

Second OP updated (Japan/Europe releases). It's true, Japan only got Devil World today. At least it's good to know that we (North America) aren't getting small updates.

Also I downloaded SSFII:TNC today..that def wasn't the game I was talking about earlier  But that's ok. I do enjoy SF and I don't have any on the Wii.. so that's cool. The sound is really horrid, though :whistle2:(...But it's still fun. Def not 800 points down the drain...it just wasn't what I expected. *shrugs*?

Anyone have any impressions of Lolo 2? I never actually beat the first one (I do have that downloaded) and just wondered if this was a good sequel or feh. Is it easier? Harder? I remember stopping the first one because it got too hard

See. This is why I'm so confused :dunce:  Turbo, as far as I know, isn't on the VC. Like Rap was saying yesterday.. Turbo = Hyper Fighting, correct? If so, why do we have Street Fighter II HF and NOT Turbo? I am so confused at Street Fighter right now.

Damnit. Now I want MK 2 on the VC..GENESIS version please.

Yikes, sorry about making you waste $8 there on account of my guess, lilboo... I'm afraid I'm muddying things up even worse for you!

The Virtual Console actually does have SFII Turbo. It's got SFII, SFII Turbo, and now Super SFII, all for the SNES (and which comprise all the SFIIs on SNES).

I'll try to explain again about Hyper Fighting and Turbo:

SFII: Hyper Fighting is the name of the third arcade iteration of SFII, while SFII Turbo: Hyper Fighting is the name of that iteration's SNES release. (Absentmindedly, I previously forgot that the SNES port retained "Hyper Fighting" in its full title. That may have been what was confusing you.) The Genesis version of this iteration was named SFII: Special Champion Edition, and Xbox Live Arcade recently received a port which used the original arcade name SFII: Hyper Fighting.

I'm not even going to bother bringing up the Japanese names for these games or I'll end up confusing myself!

And yeah, I'd love to see the Genesis MK2! I wonder what's taking them so long...

Haha OK. So there are two SF titles with Turbo in it.

Street Fighter II Turbo and SUPER Street Fighter II Turbo. The first one is already on the VC, and it is the version that was released before the one you now own.

The second -- SUPER Street Fighter II Turbo -- was the follow-up to the title you bought. It was not released on VC systems, so as of now, it will not be coming out for the VC.

Don't sweat it! My Wii points balance is 11,800  so I'm really not missing anything.. plus like I said it's a good game!

I do remember playing this (SSF II that is) and I do remember kicking ass with Cammy. I don't think I wasted 800 points, so again.. don't worry!

But Genesis MK 2....I wonder if it's even a possibility :whistle2:k

Does anybody know how many blocks/space the Everybody Votes Channel and Internet Channel beta are? I am getting kind of close to running low on space and I rarely use either of these channels and was thinking of deleting them to free up some space. thanks

XGen Studios Announces Nintendo Developer Status, Upcoming WiiWare Title
Edmonton, Alberta, Canada (January 16, 2008) -- XGen Studios Inc., acclaimed developer of browser-based games, revealed today that it is an authorized developer for Wii™, Nintendo's home console. XGen Studios is developing an original title for Nintendo's upcoming WiiWare™ service, slated for release alongside the platform in Early 2008.

XGen's upcoming WiiWare title is inspired by an existing cult classic from the studio, and will allow up to 4 simultaneous players while leveraging the unique capabilities of the Wii Remote™. "We're thrilled to announce that the classic game play enjoyed by Millions is coming to your living room in the form of a new title with compelling additions," said Skye Boyes, president, XGen Studios, Inc. "We're taking advantage of the creative freedom afforded by WiiWare to bring fans a captivating co-op game, with great competitive elements and irresistibly charming art direction."

"We can't wait to show fans what we're building," added Jordan Dubuc, director of operations for XGen Studios. "The jump-in, jump-out casual style appeals to a broad audience for both quick and extended play sessions."

This announcement follows Nintendo's press release in June 2007 concerning the availability of the WiiWare service, allowing smaller studios and independent developers to build and distribute games on this generation's hottest console. With more than 6.3 million Wii systems sold to date in the United States, WiiWare will allow XGen to bring its deviant style and innovative ideas to a massive new audience via digital distribution.

Further details are expected soon, with the title available for purchase as soon as early 2008. For additional information about XGen Studios and other XGen titles, please visit www.XGenStudios.com.

So what's "early 2008"? Now and.. April? Of course this doesn't mean shit, but still. I really can't wait to get some WiiWare games on here! Damnit. Where's our "Everybody's Nintendo Channel" already??

I ALSO hope that there's some sort of definite WiiWare thing..meaning "One game every Thursday" Or even 1 game every Monday with the VC games. I just hope we get SOMETHING. What's everyone else think? Do you think we'll get some form of routine for the (hopefully soon) WiiWare games?

I kind of doubt it. WiiWare offerings are new games, right? So a release calendar would be dependent on when the developers finish the games as opposed to VC releases which are old games ready to be uploaded at any moment.

Well a few months back when they finally revealed some more info on WiiWare games there was a great deal of games that were announced, so there's probably many many many more that are being developed.

I just hope we don't get some BS releases like one game a month. Hopefully we get something.

I think it was Alpha 2 for the SNES. its the only SF for the SNES that has a super bar.. SSF II Turbo was out only as an arcade release before the Collections came out which were for PS of course.

haha i remember MK II on the genesis. i think i still have the original cart for that. It was done soooo bad compared to SNES. Blast Processing by no means helped that game lol.
Wheres shining force 2 at? I swear If japan gets it im moving there..
I jest, of course. Seriously, I love that little turtle.

The keyword in that list is "potential"

on SF: I've got Street Fighter 2 AND Street Fighter 2 turbo AND Street Fighter Alpha 2 in PHYSICAL SNES FORMAT. Confusing, yes.

Just like to put that out there :D

And somewhere in my dreams I have Super Street Fighter II' Alpha Turbo: Hyper Fighting Champion Edition EX - World Warriors' Dreams of the New Generation Challengers. Trust me, it's great. Better than this lame recycled humor of mine.

Shin, that avatar is absolutely frightening.
Anywho, just found out Europe's BIG RELEASES TODAY!!!

*drum roll*
Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers - SNES - 800 Points

And that's it.
What is Nintendo doing to us lately?? Japan so far wins by getting 3 games (I believe last week)

We'll find out our games tomorrow night.. and oh GOD do I hope we get 3 games again! MAYBE FOUR. C'mon FOUR!

I believe it'll either be 4 to take us to the big 200 for the last monday in January, or they'll continue to dick us around and release like 1 or 2 this monday and make the following week the 200th game week.
