Lol, I saw five games and realized it had to have been fake before reading it. It'll probably be Smash Bros + junk if anything special on Monday. Tho I'd enjoy Earthbound + Smash Bros (I know, too wishful thinking)
I want Earthbound.
Because I have yet to play it.

If it makes you feel better Strell I haven't played it either. When it does come out on VC I will get it and convince everybody else I know to do the same. If they don't comply I will gift it to them.
If Nintendo doesn't get their act together I may pirate it too.

Of course you all know that's not true right? :)

WII-KLY UPDATE: TWO NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

March 3, 2008

In preparation for one of Nintendo's biggest all out brawls, the Wii Shop Channel has been updated this week with two brawlers to get you ready for the big fight coming up!

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

Super Smash Brothers: (Nintendo 64®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Violence, 1000 Wii Points): Join Nintendo's All-Stars in their first ever fight to see who will be crowned the best of the best. Players are able to choose from up to twelve characters from various games in Nintendo's history, such as Mario, Donkey Kong, Link, and Kirby. Super Smash Bros. was the very first game in the Super Smash Bros. series. It was followed by the very successful Super Smash Bros. Melee for the Nintendo GameCube. Don't forget that Super Smash Brothers: Brawl, goes on sale March 9th 2008!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Arcade Game: (NES, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone - Mild Animated Violence, 600 Wii Points): The follow up to everyone's pizza eating, fun loving, turtle heroes from the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles™ . The arcade hit has finally made it home to gamers who experienced hours of foot solider beat em up action! Our four heroes, in a half shell, are once again out to stop the evil Shredder, and Krang from taking over New York City once again. Do Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael have what it takes to go through stages of action filled, beat em up action? Play with up to two players in classic side scrolling, non stop fighting fun action in this classic sequel!

But it's not true either, Sean
People on the internet are bitches today

However, I do have news that the press release will not be released until TOMORROW night. That IS true. So let's keep our fingers crossed

Damn...

Whoever wrote that was an idiot. When was Smash Bros 64 a 1 player game? TMNT II was 2 players, I'm almost positive of that.

I take it the "news" that you're getting is from JSnake on the GAF forum, right? That's where you copy and pasted the fake update post from. Just curious--JSnake actually has contact with a Nintendo rep. I was wondering if you did as well or if you were getting the news from there.
WTF? An additional 100 points for TMNT II?
It's FAKE--somebody in the GAF thread where the news is posted make it up as a joke.
I've never played it either
GUESS WHAT, LADIES.

I AM ON TO YOUR PATHETIC PARLOR TRICKS.

You are forbidden to use the letters F, S, X, and Q in all future posts until this travesty is rectified. Additionally, sean is not allowed to raise only one corner of his mouth in a mocking smirk. YES. I have dominion over your face (just like last night with your mom).

Sons of bitches.

[poiler]
I pirated it. Look completely ull o win. Not like I doubted it or anything.[/poiler]

^Look at what you have done!
so wait, the press release saying TMNT 2 and SSB 1 is bullshit?

(My bro hopes for Earthbound still..)
Yes, complete BS. The GAF thread that the fake news was copied from made it quite clear after it had been posted.

All I can do is apologize for my lack of foresight in not ever playing Earthbound. That, and blame my parents, like any responsible human being!

I was so ready to drop some Wii points.
Is Sin and Punishment worth it?

I need some new VC games, and that one is at the top of my list.
Yes, yes, a thousand times yes.
Is Sin and Punishment worth it?

I was playing S&P yesterday and I accidentally jerked my hand and went to new game instead of continue...sucks there is only one save file available so I lost all my data

Personally, one of only two gripes with this game from me.

The second being the 1200 point cost.
Maybe Everybody's Nintendo Channel will be out tomorrow... OR sometime this week...
We can only hope. Every time I see the blue light go on for the check Mii out channel I get that glimmer of hope that we will be getting the channel (I really really want this channel). Hopefully we will get it this week so I can fully get used to the channel before my life ends with Brawl .

Oh GOD, that's all I do. Everytime that stupid light goes on I get excited. "Update?!" "New channel!?!" ..and it's "LOL LETS SEE YOUR ABE LINCOLN!"

I turned off standby mode after my last blue light was your halloween costume

I guess it could happen.
Japan didn't get any VC games before a big release game, right?
Like how we got Mario 3 before Galaxy, and Metroid and Super Metroid before Prime 3. There was something else, I think. I don't think Japan had any of those special releases..and we did..soo..maybe...just MAYBE it is possible

I still don't get why you guys want to play the decade old Smash when a brand new, better-in-every-way version is coming out in just over a week.
I still don't get why you guys want to play the decade old Smash when a brand new, better-in-every-way version is coming out in just over a week.
Like, totally, dude.

It's the same way no one wanted to play Super Mario Bros. once SMB3 came out.

Well it's what started it. It's a classic. If it were to come out tomorrow, I would still play it. I would still get Brawl. It's nice to play old games when new games come out to see how they've come along way in a series. That's just IMO of course.
Like, totally, dude.

That comparison is ridiculous. SMB and SMB3 are pretty damn different, and SMB has content that SMB3 does not. There's no real content that Smash 64 has that Brawl doesn't (except perhaps some of the levels, easily recreated via the level editor). The gameplay has barely changed at all, and what has changed (new items, new characters, new stages) can be removed at the player's discretion.

Don't get me wrong, I loved playing it back in the day. I just think it's insane to want to spend 10 bucks on it when for a bit more you can have the same game, only improved in every way. Hell, for twice that you can get Melee. Also there's the fact that we've all already played the original, which should make it even less of a good purchase.

I want it on the VC because I think it should be there, but to actually look forward it when Brawl is coming so soon just seems nuts, and I'm baffled by how many people want it and how much they want it.

What lilboo says makes sense, but I find it unlikely that most people want to play it just for historical value.

I was all like OMFG TMNT II!? And then it said 1 player, and then I was like...wait, I distinctly remember playing that game with my cousin and kickin' ass- FAK'D!

So wrong.

I already have Smash Bros, beat it, and don't care. Besides, if they did release it, everyone would just whine about why the Wii still doesn't have online multiplayer for VC games.

(Actually, I'd kill for some TMNT and some Power Rangers.)

I would buy smash bros day 1. If nothing good comes I might go for Lords of Thunder or dynamite heady.
Notice yet how you're being ignored?
Haven't noticed and don't give a damn. If people want to go directly to the source this news is being ripped off from, I gave it to them.

So this must be the first week in fuckin' *forever* that the VC games haven't leaked early.

Has there been anything remotely interesting come out thus far in 2008? It's been awhile since I picked up any titles.

StarTropics, Harvest Moon, Kirby 64, and Lords of Thunder. Also yet another version of Street Fighter 2.

I guess it depends really on the person. Kirby 64 came out last week and it's a pretty good game. We also had Street Fighter II the New Challengers, Harvest Moon, Ninja Gaiden 3. 1080 Snowboarding. Hmm.

Well in the OP under "news" is basically every title that came out since January

So far Harvest Moon is, to me, the best game we have gotten so far. Great game.

Well in lieu of real news: NoJ is saying that the MSX games Aleste and Eggy are coming to Japan in May. And Nintendo's releases for this month, copied from vc-reviews.com:

Famicom:Super Famicom:
 • Super Gussun Oyoyo
Nintendo 64:
 • Nothing this time!
Sega Master System:Sega Mega Drive:
 • Nothing this month!
PC Engine:
 • Psycho Chaser
 • Bomberman: Panic Bomber
 • Mr. Heli
Neo Geo:
 • You guessed it, nothing this month!
Good news about Mr. Heli, that's a damn good game. Not interested in anything else, but most of those are games I've never even heard of.

I forgot about StarTropics.

And NGIII tempts me, but I'm really holding out for some naive hope that the SNES trilogy will come to VC eventually.
