Where Do You Find This Console???
THE Wii IS A LIE!

or

Nobody gets to find the console! Not no way, not no how!

I'm really considering buying it, but it's not translated at all. My japanese is terrible, and according to the IGN review, there's mini-games and LoZ style conversations where you have to choose what to say.

The minigames aren't affected by the language, although the conversations are.

Nintendo did go ahead and translate the instruction book, however, so that is a big help.

Multiplayer online tetris looks good.

Wow! I'm already excited about the new Dr. Mario they're making...but now a new Tetris. I'm going to have no money in no time at all...then again, it may be worth it to have my wife playing some games on the Wii with me :)

I will never sleep again. Tetris DS kept me up all night for almost a full year - now this AND Dr. Mario online?

IGN put up a review for DoReMi. One caveat to consider though (Probably the only reason that I'm mentioning this review): The game is completely untranslated.

Definitely a caveat to consider before committing to a purchase, especially with the import premium that they're charging.

Joy Mech Fight. I've never heard of it before, but the name alone told me that I should check on it on Wiki and Youtube. Nice animation.

Fantasy Zone. Good shooter with an interesting style, I used to play it on the Game Gear quite often.

I downloaded DoReMi yesterday just because. Had 3500 points on my Wii, hard to resist. Haven't played it yet, but Nintendo has heard my money.

Picked up Puyo Puyo 2 on Monday. I never thought we'd see any version of Puyo Puyo on VC that didn't have Dr. Robotnik or Kirby's name attached. Anyway, although I would've preferred Super Puyo Puyo 2 for the SNES, Puyo Puyo 2 is practically the same game, so it's still good.

Now with that and Tetris coming out for WiiWare, the only truly essential puzzle game that's missing on the Wii is Tetris Attack.

You make Dr. Mario cry. Puyo in all it's forms is a fantastic game though - if I didn't already have three different versions I would download this in a second.

Yea, I know what you mean. I have Puyo Pop Fever for the Cube and DS, plus I have Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine for the Genesis...and on the Sonic Mega Collection.

Ahh, I'm kind of sick of Dr. Mario at this point. However, if the WiiWare version comes with some new gameplay modes, I'll probably download it.

Skipped the other VC versions of Puyo, so this latest offering was that much more of a must-have.

Yes Brawl is out but let's not forget about our good friend the Virtual Console :)
This week in Europe:

Super R-Type - SNES - 800 Wii Points
Operation Wolf - NES - 500 Wii Points

Once the Brawl obsession eases, I'll be downloading DoReMi Fantasy. Hopefully tomorrow we get a leak for Monday.

Any leak on Monday's game(s)?

My friend just sent me a message asking what VC game I'd like for my birthday, and right now I'm looking at Bonk's Revenge or Neutopia II. (I'm keeping it to $6 and under.) But I might hold out until Monday's games are announced.

Did't really think I would like the wii as much as I do. Even playing donkey kong country was just as great as it ever was. I'm tempted to get mario 64,and mario kart 64. Any games someone would recommend? What exactly is sin and punishment?

Sin and Punishment is a rail-based shoot-'em-up. It's kind of like a cross between Starfox and Gunstar Heroes. It's fucking amazing and easily my favorite thing on the VC.

Mario 64, in my opinion, has not aged well. MK64 is still loads of fun though, and I still play it in addition to Double Dash. I'd also recommend:

Starfox 64 (short but still loads of fun)
Alien Soldier (can be difficult, but the enemy design alone makes it a fantastic buy)
Super Metroid (if you haven't played this, you are not a gamer. Also it's really good)
Puyo Puyo 2 (the best puzzle game, bar none)
Ninja Spirit (if you're fucking hardcore and like your games to kick your ass)
Ocarina of Time and Link to the Past (OoT is better in my opinion as the combat in LttP can be frustrating, but they're both fantastic as you probably know)
Dynastic Hero (a precurser to Super Metroid in some ways. Loads of fun. The lack of a map hurts though)
Lords of Thunder (the soundtrack alone is worth the price)
Super Mario Bros. 3 (duh)
Kirby 64 (not the best Kirby game - that's Super Star - but still lots of fun if you can take the cuteness)
Pokemon Snap (see above "cuteness" comment)
DoReMi Fantasy (haven't played it yet but I hear it's a fantastic platformer in the Super Mario World style. Shame about Nintendo's laziness with the translation though - for this we pay extra?)

PS: This is my first post since Brawl came out. Finally unlocked the last character so my addiction is somewhat sated.

Wii-kly Update: Two New Classic Games Added to Wii Shop Channel

Are you afraid of the dark? If so, this is a great week to face your fears with a pair of eerie new game offerings on Nintendo’s Virtual Console™. One will plunge you deep underground to navigate perilous caves, while the other puts you on the front lines of a darkly sinister space war. In either case, your frights will give way to serious fun.

Nintendo adds new games to the Wii™ Shop Channel at 9 a.m. Pacific time every Monday. Wii owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week’s new games are:

Spelunker™ (NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): Wander through miles of uncharted caves in search of the legendary underground pyramid and its vast treasures. To complete your adventure, you will swing from ropes and ladders, run across unstable terrain and down ravines, operate elevators, mining carts and rafts. You will collect keys, bombs, flares, jewels, sacks of gold coins and other valuable items as you navigate the hazardous terrain. But beware of the scalding steam vents, poisonous bats and the avenging spirits of dead spelunkers that lurk in every corner of this massive underground labyrinth.

SUPER R-TYPE® (Super NES®, 1 player, Rated E for Everyone — Mild Fantasy Violence, 800 Wii Points): A galactic battle begins. The BYDO Empire of mutant extraterrestrials is back with evil intent and awesome power. Now the evil empire is poised to launch a new attack on Earth. Only the revolutionary R-9, the planet’s most advanced form of defense, stands between these monsters and doom. Fight through seven challenging stages—picking up power-up items as you progress—on the way to each stage’s memorable boss. Is the BYDO Empire invincible? You’ll need lightning reflexes, intuitive moves and a big dose of cosmic luck to hold your own. Better prepare yourself, because the mutants “R” ready for you.

Early one this week...

Starfox 64 (short but still full of innuendo)
:)
Fun game though.
Awesome games. I am holding on to my Wii Points this week though. I know there is something I don't own on the way for 800 points.
what game is it?

OP updated with everything of the past week. Sorry, been too busy playin Brawl ;)

I did, however, download DoReMi Fantasy. This way, it's downloaded & I'll have an excuse to play it. I'm really liking the import feature on the VC, so I like to help support it.

Maybe I'll get around to playing it sometime this week.. :whistle2:k
Damn, no River City Ransom. I thought we'd be getting that this week, oh well. Another week I won't need to buy Wii points I guess.
Waiting for the same thing as well.
I have 4200 points laying on my Wii console with nothing to buy.
Can anyone suggest any games to me? Thanks!
Here's my list of games I want or have, with a few comments, sorted in order of how satisfied I am with the game.

Have:
Sin and Punishment (amazing rail shooter, but short)
Mario Kart 64 (still just as good as the Gamecube version)
Starfox 64 (another fantastic rail shooter, but short)
Alien Soldier (amazing game with insane enemy design and tons and tons of boss fights, but lots of people complain about its difficulty)
Dynastic Hero (extremely fun action/adventure in the Metroidvania style, but it hasn't aged as well as the rest of these games)
Mean Bean Machine (great competitive puzzler, but get its sequel Puyo Puyo 2 instead)
Balloon Fight (the best 5-minutes-at-a-time game on the VC)
Lords of Thunder (amazingly fun shooter with a crazy awesome heavy metal soundtrack)
Paper Mario (great simple RPG)
Ninja Spirit (the best ninja game ever, but insanely hard)
Zelda: Link to the Past (duh)
Donkey Kong Country (duh)
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (fun, quirky, and original, but frustrating because I suck at it)
Gunstar Heroes (would be amazing if me and my friends could beat more than one of the levels)
Legend of Hero Tonma (really, really, really hard)

want:
NES:
SMB3 (duh)
Startropics (Zelda-esque adventure game, with more emphasis on slow puzzles)
Kirby's Adventure (lots of fun, fairly long)

SNES:
DoReMi Fantasy (supposed to be one of the best platformers on the SNES)
Super Turrican (kinda like Metroid but with way more shooting)
Super Metroid (duh)
Super Mario World (duh)
Donkey Kong Country 2 (duh)

N64:
Kirby 64 (very fun, but kind of slow and really easy)
Pokemon Snap (see above)

Looks like this is one of Japan's games tomorrow... looks really fun to me.
Bomberman Panic Bomber. I never heard of it, but here's a video.

I just thought of one possible reason why we may not haven 64 smash... alot like other titles that are currently getting remakes (ala kirby superstar) that are not getting VC releases, maybe smash is getting a remake on the DS? I highly doubt this theory, but this may be one of the answers.

You know I've been thinking about this too. Maybe an enhanced port of the 64 game with new characters stages and modes?

Just made it to level three in DoReMi today. Fan fucking tastic game, thats all I have to say. Sure it is not as big as Super Mario World, or as intense as a Super Metroid or Sonic but it has this charm to it that really makes it stand out. Plus the platforming is really good, although a bit on the easy side for me so far. Although I will say the art style is kinda kiddy like, but it is the closest thing I found to a sequel to Little Nemo: The Dream Master which I really hope does get on the VC sometime but stupid licensing issues probably wont let it.

This is one of the most frustrating and unsatisfying puzzle games I have ever played. I had almost forgotten about it until you posted this. Thank you for bringing back the horrible memories...
