Wii Shop Thread: ***FINAL FANTASY 3 IS OUT ON THE VC***

Majora's Mask still remains my favorite Zelda title, if only because it's so different. Punch Out distracted me today, but tomorrow I'll put time into Majora's Mask again.

It's also the only Zelda game where
you can fight the bosses over again!
... He's supposed to hook his Wii up at the Library or an internet cafe just to download Majora's Mask? RE-TAWD!
Oh shutup, you know what I'm referring to.
Of course, I'm not sure why I'm doing that at all since it was my intention never to download another game (as World of Goo is what messed up my system) and recommend to anyone and everyone that I can reach that they also avoid downloading anything and for that matter playing anything on the Wii that doesn't allow a copy of the save file to the SD card. This corrupt memory issue has happened to more than a few people and it is pretty pathetic that it seems they made no attempt to save my data despite it being good (for the most part). I am really disappointed in Nintendo and don't really see the point of investing any more time in any of their flagship games (as invariably it is these that you can't copy the save files for). It is sad, really, as I've defended them on CAG in the past...
Wow, overreact much? I would be super-pissed if Nintendo deleted my saves as well, but to say that you will no longer download any games or play a game which doesn't allow you to copy a save to an SD card just because of a rare memory glitch is pretty funny to me.

Just because your Wii started to flake when playing World of Goo doesn't mean that it was the culprit. My 360 died when playing Skate 2 but I don't blame Skate 2 for the failure.

If I used your rationale, I would stop playing EA games since they could potentially RROD my 360 and I'm not willing to take that risk again.

You definitely have a right to be pissed at Nintendo for the save file wipe, I just think you are taking things a little too far with the whole boycott DLC thing.
Wait.

What.
I posted that from my iPhone. Although, I did hook up my modem/router today, only to find out that they haven't shut off the internet from the last tennant.

The inability to copy/backup save files is the problem, not that there was this rare glitch and that they wiped the memory as a "repair". Well, that was a problem, but had he been able to keep backups he could have likely recovered at least some of his save files. There are very few games that allow you to copy their save files, for whatever reason, and that does indeed suck.

I have considered hacking to be able to make backups of my save files, but haven't actually done it. Now I don't know if it's possible to install the homebrew menu any more, or at least not yet. I know that with the last system update you could no longer use Twilight Princess for this. I haven't really checked since then, though. Maybe there is a new way.
Ha, it looks like a baby N64.

If I had anything but an NES controller around here I'd be tempted.
Haha, same here.

I was like "Oh Cool!" then I looked around and noticed I only have NES controllers :p

io-

A good site for wiiware info is nintendolife.com

I agree that the inability to copy certain save files is dumb on Nintendo's part. I just think that boycotting the VC or WiiWare is overkill.

And you can install HBC on 4.0 systems now through a new exploit called bannerbomb which simply runs off an SD card.

Hmm... the adapter provides a dilemma... play Majora's Mask now, or wait until June and play it with an N64 controller?

Decisions, decisions.

This week, Europe got two WiiWare games, Crystal Defenders - 800 Points, and Penguins & Friends - Hey! That's My Fish! - 800 Points.

Fulfill certain requirements while playing in any of the modes to achieve a “Master Higgins Feat” and you'll be awarded a Master Higgins costume.

Virtual Console

Clay Fighter (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, Rated T for Teen – Comic Mischief and Mild Cartoon Violence, 800 Wii Points): In this zany 2-D fighter, it's just another day for a humble traveling circus troupe when a meteor crash-lands in their camp. The otherworldly orb, made entirely out of interstellar clay, contaminates all the circus employees, turning them into bizarrely superpowered versions of themselves. Choose from among the unique clay creatures, such as Bonker, the cheerfully manic clown, or Blue Suede Goo, the mild-mannered Elvis impersonator turned violent vocalist. Master their “Claytalities,” like the operatic Helga's deadly high note and Bad Mr. Frosty's fists of snowball fury!

I have some interest in Adventure Island The Beginning. Perhaps I shall do some research.

Edit: No mountable dinosaurs makes me kind of sad.

EDIT: It turns out that the version released on the VC this week is the Genesis version, which does not have the above theme song.

Yes, but will you be getting the game?

hecky naw clay fighter. I used to go hardcore for that game. I'm not a fan of H2H fighting games but I'm a sucker for the goofy ones.

How is it that Japan always one ups America with opprotunities to be fatter and lazier? The Mega Mac, pre-buttered loaves of bread, and now being able to order food from a videogame system? C'mon America, we can do better than this.

On topic: When I get my Wii back, I'm defnitely downloading Bubble Bobble. Sounds like they finally came up with a modern release that'll actually be good.
Japan got a new channel today. The Catering Channel:
http://www.siliconera.com/2009/05/25/finally-you-can-order-pizza-hut-with-your-wii/

The Catering Channel allows Japanese Wii users to order food for home delivery. Notable among the available restaurant options are Pizza Hut, sushi, bento boxes, Chinese food, and KFC.
Although it seems highly unlikely we'll end up getting this channel over here , I could potentially see nintendo working out some kind of deal with companies that already offer online ordering for items (Papa Johns , Dominos , Pizza Hut) to offer something similar over here.

This week, Europe got 1 VC Arcade game and 1 WiiWare game, Space Harrier - VC Arcade/800 Points, and Fish'em All - WiiWare/800 Points.

The Japanese VC games for June have been announced
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/vc/lineup.html

Famicom
Tantei Jinguji Saburo: Toki no Sugiyuku mamani... (The fourth game in the Jinguji Saburo/Jake Hunter series)
Final Fantasy II

Super Famicom
Super Wagyan Land
Super Mario Kart

Virtual Console Arcade
Altered Beast
Hopping Mappy
Golden Axe

----
Thoughts:
Super Mario Kart is clearly the big VC release for June in Japan. However, I cannot help but think that this list seems a bit... light when compared the last few months for Japan. Even stranger is that three of the games on this list (Altered Beast, Hopping Mappy, Super Wagyan Land), nearly half the list, are set for release next week. Some possibilities spring to mind:
A) Nintendo is comfortable enough with FFII and SMK.
B) Plenty of Wiiware releases planned for Japan in June to fill the void.
C) Something else... Or nothing at all.

Feathers for everyone!

According to Hudson's VC site, SimEarth (Turbo CD) is set for a release outside of Japan sometime in June.

This is how next Monday for the US seems to be shaping up so far:
DSiWare
Mighty Flip Champs

WiiWare
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years (Episode 1)
Texas Hold 'em Tournament (Source)

Virtual Console is the only unknown right now.

Destructoid has it up

Mighty Flip Champs (DSi) for 800
FFIV: The After Years for 800
Texas Hold 'Em for 500
Boulder Dash (C64) for 500

Remember that it's only Episode 1 of 9 for FFIV: The After Years, so if you want all 9, that's $72 over time
