Bought the new characters and stages right before I killed my gamepad's touch screen.  Can't pass up adding to the pool of characters my son and I play at random!

Except now we can't play until I get the gamepad fixed.

That's more like it.

OK, so 3D World or Captain Toad? I'll be getting both regardless (digital or disc), however I have $33 in credit and I'm out of room internally.

Wow, including both Mario World and NSMBU with Mario Maker almost makes it attractive. Does that include the NSMBU physics? Those were the best Mario physics I've seen. That squirrel suit and the little twist jump and all the wall jumping added so much even if the levels did jack squat to make use of it. (Not unlike SMW and the cape though, really.)

From what was shown at the World Championship, each style has its own physics engine (though SMB1 was modified to include all the stuff from future games.

I dont think so, I still see it plenty in retail
I don't see it at all at GS, BB, or WM in south STL County. Maybe Target or TRU still has it.

Only 15 of 41 GS stores within 60 miles of STL city have it in stock used, at $55 before PUR Pro. So can it be safe to say uncommon approaching rare?

The biggest indication is that GS increased the pre-owned price from sub-$40 to $55. Those vultures know scalping.

I see it all the time at every Best Buy I go to, as well as Target and Walmart. Don't shop GameStop so I have no idea about them.

Yeeeeeeeeeeeees, excellent.

I really hope this NX console is a multi-console (home and handheld), single-software experience. I say this because I'd love to be able to play this and the other FE Wii U release (that I already bought) on 3DS.

I'm hoping another sale on Captain Toad soon. Can't grab it right now.

Is it just me or is the Wii U the perfect console to go all digital on?

I just noticed that NSMBU price doesn't even beat the NSMBU+NSLU refurbished disk price on the Nintendo shop ($30). What the hell Nintendo get it together.

And NSMBU+NSLU was one of the biggest positive surprises on an excellent system. I liked it more than 3DW for Pete's sake and I never expected that.

EDIT: No, the WiiU isn't good to go all digital on just because you will tear through that space lightning fast. TW101 alone is a ridiculous quantity of GB. You throw Bayo, Pikmins, Splatoon on there as the mandatory must buys. NSMBU, 3DW, Smash as the pick 'ems and you don't have room for MPT or Punchout Wii much less all the indie garbage you can buy, play for five minutes, and never come back to.

So buy the disc? Nintendo offered a digital sale on one SKU. if you want the Luigi part, buy the Luigi part.

As for space, buy an external drive for $40. Problem solved. I'm going digital as much as possible. These sales help me buy digital and sell the disc for an even swap.

Gees.

Bingo. Was always referring to having an external drive. 2TB (err, 3TB. Nintendo should probably update their website) should be plenty for the life of the system, even with stuff like 101 being storage douchebags. What's the biggest, 20GB or so?

Last edited by a moderator:
I don't think you'd need 2 or 3TB for Wii U unless it's your only console and you're buying virtually every game you can digitally.
If you're going to buy 1TB, you might as well pony up just a few more dollars and get a 2TB. The only other consideration might be to repurpose the 500GB drive out of the PS4 if you upgrade, in an enclosure.

I'm looking at possibly picking up 3 2TB Seagate slims at $80 each. That would be any digital storage set for all of them for quite some time.

I'm only a handful of levels in so far but Captain Toad is exactly what I was expecting it to be and I mean that in a good way.  It's fun and has the charm you'd expect from a Toad game, I like it as a download because I just play a level here or there, not for extended periods of time.  And waiting for sales on Nintendo published games can be a long wait...

Anyone have opinions on Mario Golf: Advance Tour?  I know the game got excellent reviews when it was released back on the GBA but does it hold up?  I enjoyed Mario Golf on the Gamecube but after the amazing gameplay that was Tiger Woods on the Wii, I'm not sure about going back to a golf game that uses buttons.
