I'm starting a new thing on my Youtube channel called Wii U eShop Preview for now. I am planning to make videos for as many of the cheap/unknown games on the Wii U eShop as I can along with some of the big stuff sprinkled in. There are four videos up right now, including a look at the mysterious Poker Dice Solitaire Future:

We need this kind of thing for 3DS eShop, too. There are a lot of mysteries on there.
Wonder if we'll see a similar sale on other platforms this week. Would pick it up for $5 on PSN.
Is the game any good? I've wanted,to buy it but never pull the trigger

There is a demo on the eshop that gives a good feel for what the game is.

It's very Earthbound inspired and I am trying to figure out if I should just go ahead and buy it now even though I am not going to be playing it any time soon

Pandora's Tower - Wii - $19.99

Wind-up Knight 2 - $7.50

Pre-orders:

Super Mario Maker - $59.99 - Out 9/11 @ Midnight - Free idea booklet with eShop pre-order

So Pandora's Tower is full price?  What happened to the $10 release week Wii downloads?  There is zero incentive to download the game as long as it's full price and I have other games that I haven't played.

It was a special promotion for the first batch of games. They never said all Wii games would be half off at launch.

Then what's the impetus to buy now? I have lots of games I haven't played through yet and this game is full price. It's a digital download so it's not going to run out of inventory and I can buy it for full price years from now if I want. So why would I buy it now for full price when I can just buy it later for full price when I'm ready to play it? I may not even get around to buying it ever. This is why Steam sales are so successful, people buy games they'll never play (but think they will/might) because they're a good deal. If the games never go on sale, maybe they never buy them at all?

I don't understand this reply. I didn't say anyone said "you have to buy them now". My point is that you put it on sale and people buy it to get the discount. Don't put it on sale and lots of those people never buy it.
You go on a mini-rant about how there's no reason to buy a game now, then don't understand why somebody would ask you why you'd need to buy now in the first place?

I agree that they should have continued the promotion.  If they had been $10 the first week, I would have definitely bought Kirby and probably would have bought Pandora's Tower.  With them being $20 I'll wait and more than likely will never buy one, if not both of them.  I guess at least they're finally releasing more Wii games but $20 seems steep but then again, so does all of their virtual console pricing.

Maybe I'm missing something, but how many digital games actually go on sale release week?
Nintendo held limited time promotions for the launch of Virtual Console games the spring after the Wii U launch where once title per month was $0.30 and they did a similar thing for Wii titles where they were $10 instead of the normal $20 for the first batch of titles. Outside of that, there are rare titles with launch discounts, like Badland: GOTY Edition that ended today.

Yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat. Hoping for some sort of Wii & DS game sale in the future, I just can't justify full price on those two categories in particular..

So you guys are complaining about Kirby's Return to Dreamland being the cheapest it's ever been.  And you're pretty much not going to find a Pandora's Tower for lower than 19.99 now either.

I can understand this viewpoint but I don't agree with it. The "value" of those two games exists due to rarity of the physical releases. The only "value" of a digital release is the gameplay experience. So, in my case, I don't value the actual gameplay experience of KRTD at $20. That's all.

No new deals today, so here is what is ending soon:

Bombing Bastards - $4.99 - 29% Off - Ends 8/20

Spot the Differences: Party! - $2.99 - 40% Off - Ends 8/20

Nintendo has a new Splatoon demo that can be downloaded now for the upcoming Splatoon Testfire event:

8/21 - 3 PM PT/6 PM ET to 5 PM PT/8 PM ET

8/22 - 3 PM PT/6 PM ET to 5 PM PT/8 PM ET

8/23 - 3 PM PT/6 PM ET to 5 PM PT/8 PM ET

I'm just gonna say it. Given how fantastically easy it is to emulate or mod the Wii, and even the Wii half of the WiiU, the high price of entry is damn near irrelevant for anyone who seriously wants to play either game bad enough. You can get the SD card and USB drive for the physical price of both games.

Your competition is not just piracy but the fact that we live in a world where most of us have double digit backlogs. You can say it's the cheapest it's ever been for a legitimate purchase, but that's weak sauce to even a middling CAG.
