Will Smith in...Oldboy the American remake
What changes? There's not even a writer attached yet. Kinda hard to bitch about what they're changing when they don't even have a script yet for the remake.
Bardock's answer is my answer.
There's been a script floating online for awhile now I believe when the writer from Better Luck Tomorrow and I want to say Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift was attached. Though that was an old treatment, so they won't use it...I think.
It would be great if they did not use it and opted for something... better. Something where I don't sit puzzled and astonished about the absurdity of what I just read.
I'm just going by what the article says. If that script floating around is legit, the article seems to indicate they'll be doing a whole new treatment.
Here's hoping it's for the better.

(Though "the better" would be if the project failed to go anywhere.)

See, one of the other reasons why the "original" remake didn't take off was the producer himself didn't like the script. I Think I read it off www.darkhorizons.com and basically he wasn't keen on the idea until there's a script on par or close to the original, but was for it if possible...

Though I don't know about Spielberg and Smith in this. Wouldn't mind if David Fincher was involved, then again I wouldn't mind him doing something in every movie
It's not too late for a Fresh Prince movie.

Phil throwing Jazzy Jeff out of the house on Blu-ray would be amazing.
Fixed
Or you could stay home and not see it, and not worry about it.
Or i could prematurely criticize it for my own amusment and you could ignore me.

Fincher's work has progressively gotten better. I would dig it if he were attached to this project (or actually got to direct Rendezvous with Rama). Perhaps he could actually extract a good performance from Will Smith. Perhaps he could do what Gilliam did with Willis in Twelve Monkeys and not allow Smith to use his Smith-isms. Plus, he directed the Opposites Attract music video. Which is perhaps the greatest music video in the history of music videos.

Will Smith in Oldboy? Mama noooooo!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Will Smith's son Jaden has been cast for the Karate Kid remake.

Hollywood is out of fresh ideas...

this movie isn't even that old, interesting that they want to do it... I could see Tarantino directing this more so than anyone else... and in regards to the writer of better luck tomorrow and fast and the furious: tokyo drift, his name is Justin Lin. I don't know if he would make or write this but I definitely can see him being a fan of it.
