I have only tried Gun Bros for like 2 or 3 rounds on my Arrive, and I didn't notice any crashing/slow loading or any other glitches really, but I do agree that the analog sticks are too small, I got used to controlling Assassins Creed on the phone but this is much worse/harder to control properly, due to that I don't think I'll play it very much but since it's free I'll probably do a couple rounds here and there.

2 things...

1. You don't have to load many friend's data.
2. You are not connected to live when you launch.

With no data turned on the game launches in ~15 secs tops. Connecting to Live it now takes me upwards of 5-6 minutes.

As stated in the Contract Killer article Tyler linked, the developers are working on a Gun Bros update that will fix some of this stuff. Appreciate everyone's help in listing bugs, etc!

Out of curiosity, does anyone here use the Parcel Tracker app? I've been having issues with it and the developers haven't responded to me, nor can I find any info online so far...I'm just wondering if anyone else is having problems with the Push notifications or if it's just me.

Ah, gotcha. Well that does suck then, at least it's not really a game I see myself playing a lot, it's never good to see anything take that long just to load up.
According to xbox.com, Splinter Cell Conviction is DOTW for $2.99, but it's still priced at $4.99.
Oh cool, good catch. I'd definitely buy that for $3.

Also, for what it's worth, I think you have the coolest avatar on CAG. I have "borrowed" it and used it as my Messenger avatar for quite a while now.

EDIT: Damn, the screen for Lode Runner Classic is TINY, especially on my Arrive!

Anyone else notice Splinter Cell hasn't dropped in price yet? I'd like to buy it for $3. They did raise PvZ back up to full price, maybe they just forgot to discount Splinter Cell?

Yeah, price is still hanging at $4.99. Not sure why. I'll buy as soon as it drops to $3.

Nice. Nearly a year since I made it, and it still makes me giggle when I look at it.

How are you guys liking Contract Killer? It's soooo much less buggy than Gun Bros. Start-up time is usually much faster, though connecting to the social server mid-game is still fairly slow. I am loving it overall.

Haven't had the chance to download and install it yet. Hopefully tonight I'll have some free time to spend with it and Splinter Cell.

Yeah, I was wondering when I'd see your name pop up on my in-game friends list. Well, even if you don't have time to seriously play it, you should complete the tutorial and view the Friends/Co-op menu ASAP so that you can start receiving the shared rewards from friends completing challenges.

Thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to do that tonight.

I played Splinter Cell for like 10 minutes during a break at work. I noticed that it doesn't have an invert Y-axis option, which is kinda lame. I'm also surprised that even for touch-screen games, my brain/fingers are still programmed to inverted controls.
I hope you're joking EastX. It is a steaming pile of shit. I hit the "Friends" button and it hangs for 10-15 minutes before crashing.
It hasn't crashed once for me. Try restarting your phone and see if that helps. Otherwise you might just have to play it offline, which'd still be decently fun IMO.

Done so many times, no dice. Same continuing issues in regards to their other shoddy ports. Kind of defeats the point of the co-op challenges if I can't play while connected online.

Have you tried reinstalling too? If you haven't played very far, that might be a good thing to try. Otherwise yes, that sucks. :(

Re-installing did not work either. Their iOS games work flawlessly, these ports on the other hand...

BTW does CK have an online save system akin to Bro Ops'?

The only save question is a good one; I haven't read through the help text yet so I'm not sure.

This is not the official word, but the actual developer of Gun Bros and Contract Killer (not Glu) placed much of the blame on WP7 itself - or rather, XNA. Apparently, WP8 (which doesn't use XNA) will be much easier to program and get good results from. That doesn't completely excuse releasing buggy games (especially Gun Bros), but try to understand that making a complex game with network features is like 10 times easier on iOS and Android. That is one reason we have so many simple-ass puzzle games on WP7 instead of real ones.

It's honestly the reason why I haven't put much money into WP7 at all. Since my wife got an iPad I've been more impressed with the quality. I'm sure there are caveats but these mobile rerelease ports to WP7 have been terrible.

I have to agree with Outinthedark, but when a game is designed specifically for WP7, it's usually pretty freakin' fantastic. I really hope the userbase increases greatly once WP8 is out because there are still so many things we need. I finally got fed up with not being able to find certain kinds of apps and I downloaded the SDK and started messing around with it. Much to my surprise, it's much simpler than I could've imagined and I'm now working on a couple of apps. To be honest, I'm designing these specifically for myself so I don't know if they will have much public appeal, but I'm excited to get them done. And this will be a good way for me to learn C#.
Plenty of hands-on footage to come! Err, not hands-on with MastrMeatWad - three foot rule. But you get the idea.
Who is that? I'm assuming I should know the name because emphasized it, but I've never heard of 'im and Google just brings up a bunch of forum profiles under that name.

Nobody..:::::forget...forget::::: If I could include the episode of south park, towlie, with that line I would. :)

Just another cag member, gamer, etc.

i have a growing list of app ideas and I just need time to sit and plug away
at learning the development. It is great to hear it is easy. I too found apps missing that will fit my need and maybe someone else will benefit too. Paul, are you working on applications?

I actually had a developer account for a year but never took advantage of it to make anything. Sadly, between playing games for review, my news duties, the family and girlfriend, I just don't have the extra time for other creative endeavors. But before I went to school for Literature, I actually studied programming a bit. Wish I could get back into that or electrical engineering, another lapsed hobby.

Now answer that email I sentcha way earlier, darn it. >:)

Plus...

Exclusive Mush wallpapers and strategy video

Got around to Contract Killer, not too bad at all. Long connection time when I start it up, but no hitches at all after that. I've taken ya out a couple times Paul, you sap!

I hope to see a sale on Dodonpachi at some point, I really suck at those type of games but I usually have fun with them anyway.

Well, now I know why the name seemed familiar (aside from being an ATHF reference)...I've seen you around on CAG before (I recognize your avatar), but the name wasn't quite ringing a bell. With there being so many users on here, I tend to not pay attention to most people's names unless I actually talk to them a fair bit. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up.

Yeah, I usually just notice avatar pics as well. Lol. I am glad someone recognized the ATHF reference. Having a 7 year old gamer tag I have debated on changing it and getting older. Lol.

Out of curiosity how Far along have you gotten into your app?

Contract killer is actually kind of fun, btw

I used to be a big ATHF fan back during the first couple of seasons. I can't really stand to watch the newer stuff, but those old episodes still crack me up. I actually use "MrFoodMonsterMan" for my primary e-mail account; it's a slight reference to one of Carl's lines, although most people just think it's because I like to eat. I also have a MothMonsterMan account, but I haven't used it in ages.

I'm working on two apps right now and they're both in the very early stages. I'm basically still planning and drawing out how I want the menus to look and what the hierarchy should be. Still haven't decided which one I want to focus on first; I've mostly been messing around with the SDK to see what I can do and which one seems like a bigger undertaking. I don't want to give away too many details right now, but one will focus on wine and the other will focus on eateries and menus. There are plenty of apps for both subjects, but if everything works out, these will be much more in-depth and will offer several features not found in other apps (I checked every related app I could find). At the very least, they will provide me with some much-needed reference/cataloging capabilities.

Does anyone remember how many Superweapons you start out with in Battleship? Finally writing my review and I'd like to include that tidbit.

I don't have time to read the last few pages right now, so if the subject has been brought up before, well, yeah...

Anyway: if any of you play Contract Killer, feel free to add me (GT: Terrificy), so we can share those co-op challenges for extra rewards and also send each other those free items :)! Will definately make getting 200/200 a lot easier.

Great, those first 2-3 seasons are the best. Anything after that just is not as good. Carl's lines are the best, funny dialog. :). Dig your email names too. It is like south park, I dig the earlier stuff more than recent episodes.

I am looking through the 30tolaunch.com site for some help with the application ideas. Have not really started past the idea stage. Hoping to get some time to plug away. Do you have any suggestions on other sites, places for reference. I am a total noob when it comes to this.

Can't get Contract Killer or Gun Bros to work. Both will just sit on the title screen? Loading menu. I've already reinstalled Gun Bros and it still won't leave the loading screen.

Pretty irritated. Anyone get these to work on an HTC Trophy? Wondering if it's just the phone.

Edit: seems this is normal. I'll try letting it sit for like 5-10 minutes and hope they load

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions right now. I actually haven't even tried seeking out any sites yet. The SDK uses Visual C#, so it's fairly simple, like using Dreamweaver or one of those places like Tripod where you can build your own web site without any previous experience. And I have enough programming/scripting experience already to be able to figure out what a lot of this code means. All I can really suggest is to search on Google and Youtube for tutorials...but if I come across any good sites, I'll be happy to pass the info along.

thank you. i would be ecstatic for any new info, advice. I have created a nice list of app and game ideas, and have a goal to at least have one created in the next couple months. If I find anything I will pass it along too. The 30tolaunch.com site does have some nice tips, videos, instructions, etc.

I have an arrive. No issues at all for contract killer. Gun bros, have not played too much yet. loaded fine, except the multiplayer has been the only negative I found with it so far, taking forever to load if it all. Windows 8 launches Oct 26th, I think. Hope that means wp8 launches within the time period. :D. The surface is tempting, at the right price.

I'm actually beginning to like Contract Killer a whole lot. I mean, the gameplay is quite fun. I haven't personally encountered any glitches yet, other than enemies covering "a little too close" to buildings, I.E. halfways inside them. This is usually solved by a shot to the head.
And hey, free is a quite nice pricetag. Doesn't hurt that you can actually obtain 10 Credits a day (the IAP currency), simply by having two friends completing the third daily challenge, which shouldn't be too hard.
Definately a neat little game for those quick gaming sessions. The energy system might be a hindrance for some, but at level 12, I have 30 energy, which means I can do 6 missions at full energy - which just, in my opinion, ensures that I don't play the game for an hour or two (I can remember a lot of times where I said 'just one more turn' while playing Civ Rev )

Enjoying Contract Killer as well. Better free game than Gun Bros or Bug Village. Feel free to add me for the co-op challenges!! GT - Dustinator

IonBallEX is only a dollar now I enjoyed what I played of the demo and will pick this one up since I haven't been buying any games for a while now :p
