I know gun bros usually connects in offline when you start it up. Only downfalls are no buffs and no bro ops bonuses. I'd say wait for a patch. The game is much better when you can play connected with someone else's bro.
 
Just go into Settings (which you should really pin to the start menu) and switch both Wi-Fi and Cellular Data to off. At any given time you only want one of those things active anyway as they both drain battery life.

You can also get a free app that lets you pin just the Cellular and Wi-Fi bits to the start screen, bypassing the Settings menu. I forget what it's called.

Alternately, simply enable Airplane Mode and both Wi-Fi and Cellular will be disabled until you manually reenable them or disable Airplane Mode.

Man don't worry I'm right there with you, not gonna be able to switch over until 2014....it does suck because of all the stuff we'll be missing out on but it seems that's how it always is in the phone markets....one of the reasons I actually can appreciate the longer live spans of consoles.
 
Considering there is a low-spec prepaid WP7 phone you can buy at Walmart right now, there may end up being a similar deal on a WP8 handset or two. Let's hope, as that would be a cool option for people who want the better games that WP8 will bring.
 
That would be something I'd consider, since I'm absolutely fine with my phone when it comes to normal phone features and would just like to be able to keep up with the games and achievements that come out, granted if Windows 8 can run the apps that may make it somewhat easier as well, as I heard that is a possibility.

The app I use is called "WP Shortcut Tiles" and it works pretty well. I have my Wi-Fi pinned to my start menu so I don't have to dig in settings every time to turn it on and off.

Those achievements sound awful. Seriously, is it that hard to think of 10-20 fun, challenging, but fair achievements?
 
You should see the XBLA Full House Poker summer update Achievements! They're either just as bad or worse. I took the dev to task for them in an email, and he apologized but blamed it on lack of time. I do wish devs would actually consider the effect each Achievement will have on players and how attainable the Achievements are.

Haha good for you. Lack of time seems like a pretty flimsy excuse.

What exactly did you say? Was it because of the overall grind fest of the new achievements?

I hope the price increase is just some sort of mistake. But I have a horrible feeling that it might be due to the fact the new WP7 games are still coming out for $2.99 and they don't want to miss the opportunity to cash in as well.

Yep! Here's what I said:
I'd like the devs to know that Achievement fans absolutely hate the limited time-only Achievements. And the new super grindy ones are kind of mean too IMO. Better to encourage people to stick around online by fixing the base game's problems than add Achievements for playing it for the rest of our lives. ;)

And it seriously raises the question, why isn't the marketplace update just automated to run overnight? I'm not pro at stuff like that, but it doesn't seem too difficult.

EDIT: Maybe everyone at MS is working on the Hybrid server problems, apparently the game is unplayable (and not even available to buy) at the moment.

It shows Gravity Guy as "Game of the Week" for me, which isn't the same as DotW (as is also completely pointless and they shouldn't bother posting a Game of the Week)
 
At 2.99 I may buy sally's spa, only because I thought it was supposed to be 4.99. Still no dotw=lame.
Tiki towers, fragger, lets golf2,c doodle jump are games I would like for dotw.

Yup, nothing yet. They've kind of been dropping the ball on DotW lately, in my opinion. First Splinter Cell is announced as DotW Wednesday but doesn't drop in price til Friday, then NFS goes back up in price 2 days earlier than normal, and now this delay.

this is poop.

in other news, sally's spa is fun, the scrolling is not bad like I thought it would be, plays well, fun. If you like salon, this is same with some added gameplay such as selling products. Decent. The achievements are going to be a bit of a grind having to perfect every level, complete on normal and hard, and then survival based achievements.

I still have hope since they haven't updated the marketplace via phone yet. I know you can get Sally's Spa via link but I still don't see it on my phone so who knows... :roll:

Anyone having problems with Sally's Spa? Just bought it last night and only 1 achievement shows up on my gamercard, even though in the game it shows I unlocked 2 achievements. Leaderboards aren't working either.

There hasn't been a Games for Windows DOTW for about a month now either, although those were usually terrible anyways.

Is sonic episode 1 usually $5? That's what it is now so I'm wondering if that's it.

Sonic Ep. 1 was price-dropped a few months ago. $4.99 is currently it's regular price.

havent had that problem. Unlocked like 4 or 5 achievements so far. you may need to uninstall and redownload. maybe try unlocking another achievement first.

Sometimes you need to play the game again while connected to Wi-Fi, and then exit and refresh your Achievement list on the phone. That seems to help.

well yah..thats what happens when you uninstall...you lose your progress. But it may have fixed your problem. If you only unlocked 2 achievements you werent that far in the game. :p
 
Has anyone had anymore info yet? The only time I buy games on WP7 is from DOTW! They can't stop it! Lol. It might of had something to do with the fact that they are upgrading the marketplace at the moment and its causing alot of delays. Everyone should buy ilomilo though. That game is awesome!
 
Sorry for the bump if it gets anyone's expectations up, but this is really flippin' lame that there is no DotW. I thought they would come through and were just behind, but it doesn't look like it at this point. Super lame MS.
 
Wasn't there a week where there wasn't a DotW at all? I think MS just effed up and didn't have a game lined up for a discount or some kind of publisher issue complicated things. Or *GULP*......Deal of the Week for Windows Phones have been canceled? Kinda like Games for Windows Live? No more weekly deals there / end speculation
 
Yeah, I do not recall a missing week before. I would think we would get an announcement of sorts if cancelled, right? But, it seems strange to cancel it and I would lean to they did not have something in place.

btw-I too had a achievement issue with sally's spa, first two unlocked but did not unlock on my gamertag. achievements after the first two show however. Guess I'll replay once I beat it to get it to unlock
