Electronic Arts studio visit - see me in action!

Kingdoms & Lords review

Thanks for the Painkiller comments, MastrMeatwad and Benjamouth. Ooga, you can do it too!

Sweet. It doesn't have cloud saving though, right? So you have to get the WP & Win8 achievements separately.

Hmmm it actually does support cloud saves. So this should pretty easy.
If you want to be efficient, you can unlock a lot of Achievements simultaneously. You have to play from both devices basically at the same time to do it. See the XB3A Achievement guide for the strategy.

Farm frenzy 2 is the red stripe deal, on sale for 99 cents.

I hope there's a decent Black Friday sale. I really wanna pick up final fantasy and chaos rings.

I got Farm Frenzy 2 during the last sale. Decent game for $0.99, but the later levels become too hard and really time consuming. Definitely demo it first as the gameplay is not for everyone.

To those interested in achievements, this game does have one pretty rough achievement for getting gold on all levels. The casual gamer will likely only get 100/200 before they get tired of the game.

I am also hoping for a decent Black Friday WP sale on games that have not been on sale since I got my WP last May. I think Final Fantasy and Chaos Rings are really wishful thinking, although FF has been on sale once, just not that much off.

Made it back to TX late last night!

Argh! You're going to make me register? I can't say no though...Done.....I hope you're happy Pal. :)
Think of how much worse life would be if you'd never signed up for CAG... The more accounts, the merrier.

I can argue that point if I was feeling a bit better. I am just going to say that sometimes "ignorance is bliss" and leave it at that.

I wish Microsoft would do a weekly red stripe deal for Windows 8. Then I may pick up some games other than the free Gameloft crap.
Did I call it or what? Let's try this then: "I wish Microsoft would make Plants vs Zombies the red stripe deal of the week next week.........<waits>

Moving on.... I wish they would release a patch that lets you run apps off the SD card. My phone is choking on the ~1Gig of internal memory that is taken up by Six Guns. I am forced to remove games now whenever I want to install something new because of this behemoth. If GL priced their virtual wares more reasonably I would drop enough dollars on the game to enable me to get the achievements out of the way. I had no problem doing that with Uno & Friends, but that game doesn't make you feel like you're being ripped off.

Also, I am 100% sure I have never been able to install Crimson Dragon on my phone since it's not beefy enough. Now all of a sudden it lets me do it. Not sure what's going on there.

Thanks for the info. Most of it is still a bit overpriced, but I may pick up a couple of things once they go on sale.

Not a bad price for N.O.V.A.3. I remember being impressed with the 2nd one on ipad, and the first one on my Blackberry way back when. May as well finish the trilogy.

Man, I actually hated NOVA 3. It's much harder and less intuitive than Modern Combat 4. Kept failing over random BS and the loading times are atrocious. Maybe others will have a better experience.

Lots going on sale unfortunately most are still slightly over priced IMO and a good portion of them my shitty Lumia 520 can't play.  I'll probably bite on Contre Jour though and a couple other random ones.

I'm in the same position. If I want to install anything on my phone, I have to remove games, thus losing my saves and having to worry about possibly losing access to a game permanently because it gets delisted. I've already lost two or three games because of this, so until I can upgrade or Microsoft will give us a solution, I'm not even bothering with WP games anymore.

The demo of Tiger Woods 12 keeps crashing my Nokia 900 horribly. Tried playing it a few times and always crashed my phone before I could play it. The WP reviews have others with the same problem. People might want to avoid the risk to your phone.

The Sims 3 - 11/28 $3.99
Trivial Pursuit - 11/28 $1.99
Picnic Wars - 11/28 $1.99

It seems that these have gone on sale a day early.

I am considering Picnic Wars. Thoughts?

Bearable.
That may just be good enough for me to pick it up. I've noticed that I barely touched my 360 that past month or so, and all I have time to do is play for a few minutes on my phone when I can. So even mediocre WP games catch my eye now due to lack of better options.

Bearable is about right, it's not great at all. I guess it'll be alright for 5 minutes now and then. I picked up Picnic Wars and Risk in this batch that went on sale. Risk is far better IMO although for what a simple game it is it really should be regular price $1 instead of on sale for $2.

Halo Spartan Assault is the red stripe deal of the week for $2.99, definitely going to pick this one up.
Hmm, tempting but I'm just not sure. In the demo I didn't really care for the controls. Something just felt off compared to other twin (virtual) stick shooters I have played on the phone. Wonder if it will ever drop to $0.99.

Where were these sales when I actually had a Windows Phone?  I'm pretty sure I just passed on physics puzzlers for the last 3 months of my WP tenure.

Anyone else having problems connecting to XBL using their WP? For the past day or so I am unable to download anything from the market place or check stats...etc. I don't have any problems using my Win8 PC though.

I restarted it a dozen time. I finally figured out whats wrong though. The damn thing froze yesterday so I had to remove the battery to reset it. When it came back on, time was set to "manual" and the actual time was wrong. For some reason that prevented it from connecting to xbox live.

Don't know where to ask this, so I guess this is probably the best place:

Just got a new laptop with Windows 8.  How are the Xbox games on Windows 8?  Do they get released fairly regularly, or are they sporadic like Windows Phone has been?

Any recommended W8 games?  Are there any free games that have cheevos?

Jetpack Joyride is really fun. Has a lot of iap, but they are unnecessary. Got full 200 in both version (W8 and WP8) very easily without spending a cent.

Then there's the obvious classics Minesweeper and Solitaire. However I think they only have 50 gamerscore each.

Shuffle Party was fun on WP7, but I found it frustrating on PC using a mouse.

There are some good paid ones, even retail titles like BlazBlue, but they are all limited to 200 gs (not including dlc). The only paid W8 game I have is World of Keflings (doesn't even have multiplayer).

My thoughts exactly on all of them.

I just finished iStunt 2 (which I got for free several months ago) and actually had a lot of fun with it.

Dungeon Hunter 4 arrives on WP8 and Windows 8 - Free to play Diablo clone from Gameloft with online multiplayer, can you dig it?
Ouch! This one hurts.

I normally would be disappointed that a game from a genre I like is not XBL enabled, but in this case it actually makes me feel better that it's not. There is no way I can clear 4 GB of internal memory space on my phone. Not that it can run it anyway since it only rocks 512 MB of RAM.

I may have to give the Win8 version a try when I have some time though.

Gameloft is giving up with Xbox Live on WP as well?  Wow.  I figured we (well not me anymore) could always count on the major players to at least get their games certified.

Final Fantasy is the redstripe DOTW for WP for $3.

I have no idea what the Win8 DOTW is though. Probably something equally crappy.

Edit: It's Skulls of the Shogun for $4.50. Crappy deal.

I posted this on WPCentral, but wider net and all...

I'm long overdue for an upgrade, still rocking the original Samsung Focus.

I'm locked into AT&T with my company contract, which I have no complaints about.

I want the best hardware available.  I'm media-heavy on my phones (movies, music streaming, games, etc.), and want a phone that won't strain when running resource-demanding apps.  The 1520 seems to be the obvious choice, but I have a couple questions before committing.

Question 1
I occasionally use USB tethering with my old Samsung Focus via the Diagnostics menu.  Not often, but the few times I have used it it was life-saving.  Does the 1520 also feature a similar workaround?

Question 2
I've seen some discussion regarding 16GB and 32GB models.  From what I've read, AT&T currently only offers the 16GB model, but will offer the 32GB model in the future?  Is this true?  If so, does anyone know roughly when the 32GB model will be available?  I could probably wait a couple months if it meant +16GB of storage.  If it's going to be longer than that, I'm probably better off just grabbing the 16GB model now.
Also, to clarify, I am aware it has expandable storage, and I will be adding a 64GB Class 10 to it.  I would still rather have 96GB than 80GB.

Question 3
Is there something better than the Nokia Lumia 1520 coming in the near future?  I love the "future proof" specs of the 1520, but I wouldn't mind a slightly smaller model.  Is there something comparable to the 1520 expected in early 2014, Nokia or otherwise?

Thanks in advance for any input.

I just said a few weeks ago I was hoping for a sale on final fantasy and now there is.

Conclusion: I am the god of future deals and windows obeys my every command.

I'd be all over FF1 if I still had WP.  50%+ off is a pretty decent deal.

Skulls for $4.49 though (which I can actually buy now that I have Windows 8) isn't gonna happen though.  I think I'm still not in a rush to put another penny into the Xbox brand...
