Yeah, my review is post-update. I don't think Cro-Mag Rally is any fun at all, but it's an easy 200 if you put the time into it.

Also, check out indie puzzler Buzzwords if you like Bookworm and word-finding games. It's only a dollar.
After playing the demo, I think I may go for it for $2. I'm definitely a 'cheevo addict, so $2 for a potential 200 is a pretty decent deal. And the gameplay wasn't all that bad (not even comparable to Hydro Thunder GO, however).

Downloading the buzzwords demo now. I kinda suck at these type of games, but I'll give it a whirl.

Thanks.

Spider Jack is now available.
An EA game? I'm really surprised. This is the first since their launch titles, right?
Yep! We knew Spider Jack was coming, but seeing EA's name attached us a surprise.

This sucks, tried to buy a game on my pc with the zune software but says I need to have a phone connected..any way around this? Wanted to buy some games that are on sale now and get the phone in about a week.

Is the HTC HD7 from T-Mobile any good?

Yeah, purchased Sally. Good title. Was waiting for the DOTW on this one.

Played the trial of zombies on teh phone-fun. You don't get to try the other modes, curious what they are about. Seems like a solid live title for 2.99.

I was thinking of Live games that should be on the WP7 and developers that I would think might test the market. Then I remembered Twisted Pixel is hooked up w/ MS now and I smiled. I can think numerous titles that are established on live that can transfer to some degree to WP7. I just hope someone at MS/WP division is thinking the same thing.

I hope that more Xbox Indies find their way to WP7. Zombies was a good candidate since it was a top-selling title. When I look at games like Miner Dig Deep or Soulcaster, I just see a treasure trove of games perfectly suited for the phone's touch controls.

agreed. Miner would be great! I would love to see something from EPIC (infinity), halo wars on teh phone would be perfect, WP7 (kinect) sports, S'Plosion Man-something from twisted pixel, avatar games-something like JoyRide, a fable type title, and there are some EA published titles that would port/play well.

Sally's Salon Impressions -

I'm through the first 2 levels, and while I like it, I have to respectfully disagree with EastX and say that it's not better than Star Wars Cantina.

I have two major gripes with the game. The first is the actual haircutting and styling. Everytime the screen pops up and I have to flip through the hairstyles to make the customer smile is annoying. And it really pulls me out of the flow of the game. I'm in the middle of assigning Sally six things to do and BAM, it pops up and I have to chose a hairstyle for the person. It's jarring and is just KILLING the flow of the game for me.

2nd gripe is that the touch controls aren't perfect, and they kind of need to be for a game like this. When I have 3 people sitting in styling chairs waiting for me, I'll try to click on them, but a lot of times I will click one and then instead of clicking the next one, my press is just slightly off and it de-activates my first click. Same with coffee, sometimes I just can't seem to give it to the person, especially when they're waiting in line to pay before they leave and I need to bump up their hearts.

(For what it's worth, I play Tap mode because it's easier, but makes giving coffee harder. I'm also on Sprint so I'm stuck with the HTC Arrive and it's puny ass screen. Maybe the touch controls work better on the bigger screens).

I think the popups in which you choose hair styles, etc. are what actually sort of make it feel like a haircutting game. Also, you don't have to find one that makes them smile - it just adds a heart if you do so. You can pick a neutral style and receive no hearts or a frown style and lose a heart. Recovering hearts with coffee isn't too hard as you get further in the game, so smiles aren't always necessary.

I also find the controls to be much more accurate than Star Wars Cantina's. Could it be an issue with your phone? Also yes, Tap is definitely the way to go.

But the comparison to Cantina comes mostly from Sally having about 10 times more content, a much better upgrade system, better Achievements, and you don't have to worry about remembering drink order. Cantina feels rushed by comparison and generally received worse reviews across the net.

Sally's Salon was one of my favorite wp7 games when I had mine. Its very easy once you get the hang of it. The only problem I ever had with it on my focus was it not saving when I went back and did levels I did previously.I ended up having to reinstall the app and start over. I never had a problem with the touch controls on the focus.

I'll keep in mind the neutral hair styles in the future, thanks.

I'll agree that Sally has way more content (though that's not always a good thing, IMHO), a better upgrade system, and better achievements (the stormtrooper achievement on Cantina was stupid). I'll keep playing Sally and see if I get any better at the controls.

I purchased Sally's Salon as well and am happy with it. So far, i've purchased 4 games and have gotten all the free games as well. Am enjoying my WP7 and look forward to next weeks deal. I wonder what it is...

Bug Village is out and it's free! What's more, I spent a bunch of time creating this Bug Village premium content analysis. Please check it out.

Also, indie shooter Square Off is on sale for $1. There's also a free version, and both now come with free ringtones!

Besides that, 4 hot Xbox Live games are coming in February. 3 are established console franchises, baby!

Here's my Ghostscape review. The game will likely fly under most people's radars, but it's probably worth getting when it goes on sale.
27 EA games are coming to Nokia phones first. There's a list and trailer out there but Im posting from my phone.
Here's an article about it, but the video is set to private for some reason so can't watch it.

Are they planned to be released as Xbox Live titles? Cuz, not to sound like an achievement whore, but I don't really care about the games unless their Xbox Live Titles. However, if they are Xbox titles, and on Nokia only, I will be one unhappy WP7 owner.

Implode is really fun. Reminds me a lot of Angry Birds.

Bug Village just pisses me off though. The amount of time it takes to do anything is ridiculous unless you spend actual money to speed things up.

You know you're supposed to play this kind of game for just a few minutes at a time, right? You choose the task time that best fits your schedule, and just check back later in the day or the next day. Buying a few coin-related things will get you jumpstarted, but the game's pace is really built around not having coins.

As for the EA game discussions, we'll have a post up tomorrow. I just got swamped today with other stuff, argh.

The game runs in the background. Just pick a task and exit out of the game.

Looking forward to it.

I have been neglecting my WP7 for a month or two now. I broke it out last night and downloaded the trials for the last many weeks. Got a message that I was almost out of space. :( Now I need to go through and delete some games I guess.

I have the Samsung Focus. I see there is a micro SD slot when I pull off the back cover. I seem to remember that there is a hassle when adding a memory card. Like you can't just pop one in and it instantly adds the memory. That you might have to wipe the whole system and start from scratch.

If it is as easy as just popping in a card, is there a limit to the size? I'm assuming the Focus comes with 8 GB. So, can I add another 16 GB?

HOLY AWESOME!

Then I remembered I am stuck on Sprint....:censored:

ATT and TMobile are just downright crap in my area. Crap is being kind. NO service at home, at work, and spotty in major city! I am stuck with one of two WP7 haters (verizon/sprint). Sprint is the lesser of two evils.

Man, that top end Nokia phone is nice, and the Titan II with a 16mp camera! I hate you sprint/verizon... I hate you

Implode is fun! I enjoy it more than I thought I would. I wish I could have the new nokia phone coming to ATT, but bad service.

On Sprint too, but considering I'd be paying at least $30-40 more a month on another (major) carrier it's going to stay that way. Luckily for me, service is just as good as any in the Washington DC area.

Anyways, Microsoft has said they are aiming to get WP7 on all carriers. And consider, Nokia doesn't have a long history of making CDMA phones, so the biggest focus / first implementations will be all GSM. They have announced CDMA versions though.

I suspect we'll see new phones by the end of the year on Verizon/Sprint. Hopefully the Nokia ones. Hopefully not the 700 dumbed down series. I'll gladly take an 800 series, but 900 would be fantastic. (even though 800 is an "ATT exclusive", that usually either means timed release or that other carriers get the "801" "802" some other stupid word play.)

Thanks for the vid Sean.

Do you know if it's for sure that these games will come to non-Nokia phones at some point? I have read speculation going both ways.
First: I am loving implode more and more every day. Something so freaking simple, but so fun. This is one of those titles that I would have been happy paying full price for, so DOTW is great. Bug Village is ok, but great due to the free aspect of it. Yes you can pay for coins, but not necessary. Evertime I look on apple's appstore these games do well, smurf village for example. So this should be welcomed.

@Bigpop-I would love it if you are right. After reading what Sprint (Owens) quoted I now think Verizon has a better chance at getting more WP7 phones. I will even consider AT&T again in a few months.

WPcentral links a petition for sprint to carry more devices (WP7), which is good for any consumer. More options and diversity equals better quality products, choices, and pricing. Sprint appears to be on the bottom tier for diversity in their phones. I never sign petitions to be honest, but I felt inclined to do it for this.

Thanks Sean- I would buy every single one of those titles! I only hope they are released to non-nokia devices and are not released one per week sporadically. I would like to see more than one title released per week, 2-3 would be perfect.

The Windows Phone Marketplace hasn't updated yet.

On a happier note, here's something fun. I have a big batch of WP7 Xbox Live games what need reviewing. I would love to know which game you guys want to see reviewed first.

The choices:
 • Bug Village
 • Doodle God
 • Farm Frenzy 2
 • Flight Control
 • Hasta la Muerte
 • Spider Jack
 • Zombies on teh Phone

If I get some responses, those will be the reviews that get written and published by next week.
