eVeryone is leaving on vacation. Lol. I'm heading out Friday morning for California. Going to Comic Con. :D
Nice, I'd like to go to one of those one day. I'm going to Vegas for the UFC Fan Expo.

Anyways, on topic....I got nuthin.
Appreciate it, Tyler! Hope you enjoy the trip.

Speaking of vacations, I might get to attend Casual Connect in Seattle later this month in order to hunt for WP news. Fingers crossed!

Thanks! Hope you get to go to Seattle! I was there once, had a really good time. The wharf where they toss the fish was closed tho :whistle2:(
Seattle is my neck of the woods! great place to visit as there are a ton of things to do. I recommend bejeweled to anyone who did not get it last time. Do not expect a perfect completion on the achievements though.

I purchased Bejeweled and enjoyed it. Seeing as it's $4.99 regular price and getting it for half off, I got it instead of waiting even longer to save a $1 or $2. I'm enjoying the wp7 game selection more now that there are more games than last time I had a phone. Just wish more games would drop in price so I could get them too.

MonsterUp Adventures free through Saturday - Indie game but pretty great, and of course, free!

Cool, we should meet up if you're available.

FlamedLiquid, I'm jealous! I'd probably trade a Casual Connect attendance in for Comic Con in a heartbeat. :)

I am usually free weekends! :D Are you up for a day, two?

MonsterUp Adventures! I am grabbing this! I really hoped this would have been a LIVE title, and the developer mentioned (in some article I read) he attempted, went through the process, but was denied!?

Are you reviewing Mush East? The demo appears kind of fun.

If the trip gets approved, I'll be there from Monday-Thursday. There are some great parties that Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evening...

Hoping to get Mush reviewed over the weekend. I've had the hardest time getting my reviews done for the last few months. I really need to return to form and get more enthusiastic about the review process. I'm always being distracted by news and business emails, interviews, etc., which has made me fall so behind. Ah well, fingers crossed!

That's correct about MonsterUp Adventures being denied Live status. I actually just wrote the dev an email with some suggestions that could help him get better noticed by Microsoft.

Let me know if your trip gets approved. :) Pike Place Market and Space Needle are a must do/see too. Also, experience Music Project and the fremont Troll is super cool. http://www.seattle-fun.com/fremont-troll.html

Thank you for the info on MonsterUp. I hope the developer is able to take your suggestions to get some recognition from MS. I prefer MonsterUp tover Doodle.

The release dates used to be announced well in advance, it appears the last couple months a week in advance is lucky at best. Strange.

I know exactly how you feel. It's one of the things that led me to stop writing. I loved it for a long time and it was always really great to get early access to games and speak directly to developers/publishers and whatnot, but the reviews killed me. And then when I stopped getting paid for it, I lost a lot of motivation, mainly because I was putting so much work into it. For a while, I was reviewing every WiiWare game that came out each week...and at the time, there were usually three or four games at a time. I spent so much time reviewing that I never got to spend time with the games that I actually wanted to play, which is one of the main reasons why I have such a massive backlog. It really was fun for a while and it's an experience that I'm glad to have had, but I don't know if I'll ever get back into it...although I do maintain contact with many of the PR's just in case.

My interview with Zen Studios just went live!
It's packed with choice development details and exclusive concept art. This one took more time and effort than any previous interview (I first wrote the questions back in April), so please be cool and comment on it at WPCentral. :)

Nice to see someone knows what it's like, man. Yes, being obligated to play a new game when you'd rather play one you already own can be a real drag. I'm torn because I love giving games college-level criticism, and I feel like my gaming general gaming knowledge gives me a perspective that really benefits mobile game reviews, which are usually reviewed by more casual players. I really shouldn't complain because it's always been a dream of mine, and not everyone gets to realize their dreams.

I downloaded the MonsterUp Adventure game but haven't gotten around to trying it yet, it's nice having a week where there's nothing that I want to buy finally :p. Bejeweled is fun but I've played enough of it on other systems and I just can't get into Mush, looking forward to the games coming out soon though, also planning on reading through your Zen Studio interview when I have some more time later, I really enjoy their games.

That would be much appreciated, Mociwe!

Ahem, Mociwe!
Anyone buy mush? How is it? Does it ever get challenging at all?
Mush is very much like ilomilo in that you can't die and the challenge comes from figuring out the puzzles rather than enemies.

It does actually get harder eventually - I'm stuck on this stupid rotating puzzle in the Sadness levels and have no idea what to do. The character's walking speed makes the puzzle more frustrating than it needs to be as there's a lot of setting up involved. What I'm trying to do is get this ball/boulder into this big rotary thing and somehow use the thing to get the ball over a ledge so that it can activate a switch. But every time I try, the ball just falls out of the rotary thing and I have to start over. Grr.
Ahem, Mociwe!

My buddy from the marines has been up on a two week leave so I've been spending a good amount of time with some of my friends, I'm going through the interview now finally though :p

Mush is pretty good. I'm 10 levels in and have enjoyed my time for the most part. Controls work well enough and emotion mechanic is kinda cool. I'm happy with it for $2.99

Cool, looking forward to checking out Gun Bros. Free is a great price, hopefully it's fairly accessible without having to get into microtranscations.

Nice to see something decent for dotw. I might not get it though. Still hoping for a sale on the vita version.

Gun bros definitely looks good. I just hope the microtrans aren't necessary. Good to see a free game with a full 200, instead of an odd 50, as well.

Very good chance I am going to buy Plants vs Zombies. I have the Xbox version, but never finished it. I want to eventually, but I think I would play this all the way through beforehand because it is just more accessible and touch controls would make it even better. Anyone have impressions on this version?

Gun Bros is 186mb, damn hope it's worth it. Can't really complain since it's free. Just finally tried Bug Village yesterday and don't like how it's slow paced and has microtransactions (via Microsoft Points) but am looking forward to getting PVZ......again!

With Gun Bros, you never need to buy any PDLC to keep playing. But it's a nice way to support the devs, so please consider pitching in a little if you like the game well enough.

True. I don't mind Paid DLC, even if it doesn't add achievements. However, when the said PDLC is just to do things like shortcuts (buy more coins) doesn't make it so worth it for me. I did buy some PDLC for chickens can't fly and a couple of other games :bouncy:

I actually think the XBLA version is the best. So far, it has been the easiest for me to control, with the exception of the corn cobs (but I never use those anyway). But I haven't played the phone version yet, so we'll see if I change my mind...

PvZ on XBLA is definitely a little better. You can bring one more item into levels than the mobile versions allow, it has more minigames, and it's 2-player. But it also costs a lot more!

Like MrCheapo said, playing on the go is very convenient, and the WP7 Achievements are a little easier. I reviewed the game at WPCentral and it remains in my top-5 WP7 Xbox Live games. I've played through the game twice each on PC, XBLA, and WP7, and I enjoyed every moment. :)

Always good to do. I agree that Bug Village's PDLC isn't done very well, BTW. It's just not a very robust city management game in general, really.

Yeah, PvZ is absolutely awesome. I would recommend it to anyone.

Not too impressed with Gun Bros. I'll play it a little more but it's not really doing anything for me. Infinitely better than Bug Village though.

dun get me started on Bug Village. it's literately a bug fest when it comes to the gameplay let alone getting the cheevos. like the random bugs not appearing... it was aweful - even after the so called patch.

yeah, gun bros could be ok in bursts. i like it better than zombies on the phone. the pdlc is crap to me. the usual "facebook" type of pdlc. 5 warbucks for 160 ms points? i don't think i'll be getting any since the cooler items, as usual, are more expensive.

gt is DerekTheExtreme if anyone wants to add me for bro buffs or bro ops. or for any other windows phone/xbox games.

Finally, PvZ!! My luck they will drop it to .99 in three weeks after I finally purchased it! ;p

I only have one achievement left on the XBLA version, and I have struggled obtaining it. I will probably 200 this guy before the arcade.

Gun Bros is pretty good. So far no bugs like bug village. I gave up on Bug Village because the stink bugs just vanished, never to be seen again.

I have wanted to buy Final Fantasy, but the thing that keeps holding me back is transfering game saves. I hate to put in hours of play only to start over on my next phone. A cable to link phones to transfer saves would be nice...

an option to backup saves to the pc would be even better. i'm not too thrilled about not being able to carry over to wp8. i still have another year before i upgrade again though. hopefully when wp8 comes out they still allow the new games to play on wp7.

i'm starting to like gun bros more the more i play it. the bro ops/buffs are nice as well since they don't require 100s of friends. from what i can tell it's at least 2(completing) for the ops, and 10 for max buffs. you can also use your friend's bros when you're playing and send them xp. your friend's bros are also a lot more competent than the default ai bro.

agreed, the backup saves to pc would be best. Here is hoping!

Do you need to be on a wifi for the multiplayer aspect? I am not connected, and would like to see how it plays.

Man, I love the music from plants vs. zombies... One of my kids calls everything zombies because of this game, she loves zombies. Just glad it doesn't give her nightmares....

yeah, you have to be connected. the online connection is shaky and slow, at least for me anyway. my area doesn't have a strong 3g signal. there's no searching for people either. they have to be on your friends list.

ahh. Ok. Thanks!

Are you guys warming up to Gun Bros yet?
 • The first time I launched it, it took 1min45sec to reach the Bro select screen, and then it crashed. Second time it took 1min15sec and did not crash. Next time after that, it seemed to be under a minute. Can you report your startup loading experiences here?
 • It seems that Back either crashes the game or just closes it (as if on purpose), which isn't right.
 • My only other complaint is the analog sticks being too small and too close to the edge of the screen. The stick that's near the top of the Focus in particular is hard to keep my thumb on consistently.
Anyway, if you can provide detailed, intelligent feedback here, I'll pass it along to Glu later today or Monday. I haven't gotten to play it quite as much as I'd like or I'd probably have a better idea of what needs fixin' and what doesn't. I am having fun though.

I have an HTC HD7 on T-Mobile and I have not experienced any crashes, but the game takes forever to load. My screen even timed out once because the loading screen took so long.

My next gripe is there is no easy way to replay a level. After every level you have redeem your ore and then it takes you to the store by default. It is finally at this point that you can go in a select the level again and wait for it to load.

I have no XBL friends with a Windows Phone. Absolutely zero. I will be grinding this game for achievements solo and replaying a level that I have failed would be nice.

But to mimic your point, the game is fun. It will be a grind to get most of the achievements but I am enjoying it.

I agree with the analog sticks. An option to increase the size would be nice. I don't mind their positioning as much. It's hard enough to see what's coming at you with the current position.

the connectivity is really poor. Extremely long loading times, and even then it doesn't pick up a connection. Last night i tried 5 times in a row and it didnt connect. Internet and other apps worked perfectly fine. I didn't have much of a problem the first night I played, but it hasn't been good to me since. I'm using a HTC arrive. No crashes though.

HD7, no crashes but the connecting to "XBL" or whatever it is consistantly does not work. I have to restart it multiple times before I can connect to the network. After that it is smooth sailing. I've had a 2+ minute loading screen though and it gets frustrating for sure. No issues with the back button for me. Analog sticks have "stuck" and my guy goes flying occasionally into a horde.

BTW these problems persist in the iOS version as well.

@hoofrog - Shoot me an inv or post on X360A. I have 22 WP7 friends now thank's to this game. the 120% XP/Gold boost is well worth it to gather 10 new friends.

Thanks, invite sent from phone. I am at work and the signal is hit or miss so I assume it went through.
It sort of makes me tempted to go for this:

Prepaid Lumia 710 for $269 at Walmart

Tyler, where's your Gun Bros loading/bugs/suggestions report?
I actually haven't put a whole lot of time into it, I've been cleaning up the achievements on Mush. I have had 0 problems with crashing and while the load times were noticeable, they never made annoyed me all that much.

Someone had mentioned that there's not a quick-restart option, which I think would be pretty beneficial, instead of forcing you to go to the refinery, store, etc.

I haven't been able to actually connect online yet. I was going to try through my wifi at home, but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I have a HTC Arrive and it took a little less than a minute to load. But then it began chugging horribly after less than 2 minutes of playing. Backed out(home button 5 times) then tried to load it up again. Froze twice. ....the controls seemed clumsy and I didn't really grasp the control scheme quick enough once the frame rate dropped.

I'm so tempted to delete this free game that was a horrible experience. /end being honest

I couldn't even get the damn thing to download properly. After waiting 30 minutes or so (which is horrible compared to normal), there was an error, so I just deleted it and haven't bothered with it. But once I realized what kind of game it is, I didn't even care...I can't imagine having any fun with it.
