Everyone else... C'mon, be nice for once.
I comment as well (albeit not as often as they do); I just don't use my CAG username.

Sally salon LE is down from 4.99 to 2.99 today, and I would guess is dotw. So, rejoice! Run to the streets and kiss your neighbor! We get deals!

I already own it but good game for 2.99. I am also enjoying hole in the wall. The tilt controls are good.

Wha? Why would you use a different username? Then nobody will know who you are. But since you mention it, what is this alternate identity of yours?

That's good news about Sally's Spa! I finally got one of the people behind the DOTW program to agree to an interview so I would've known about this in advance, but he's being very slow to respond with his answers. Sigh.

Also, I 200/200ed Shoot 1UP after about 4 hours of play (many have done it in less), which I could never possibly do with Dodonpachi Maximum and haven't done with OMG due to lack of interest. It really is the best shmup in ages. On the subject of Achievements, I hope MeatWad and Tyler have accepted my friend requests at TrueAchievements! In case you guys don't use it, TA provides a great way to see what your friends are doing in games and comment on their accomplishments. Even if you're not a big Achievement hunter, it's a fun social tool.

I will hop on true achievement.com and accept. I haven't been on the site for awhile. Nice site though. This will give me a reason to use it more. :D

Oh nice. Lame that it's a repeat, but nice to see that it might be returning.

I'm actually using touch controls on Roll in the Hole (I believe that's what you're referring to) and enjoying it. It's definitely more of a simplistic platformer than a physics game, which I really like. I'm about half way through, it's starting to get a little tougher.

Hmmm....I'm not seeing a friend request. Either I don't know where to look or it didn't go through. Anyways, I'll send you one.

Sally's Salon LE gets cheaper. Could the DOTW be back?
TA steals content, hides behind UCC, and profits from other's work.
Do they? I know the writers (who are all unpaid volunteers, which is lame) sometimes forget to cite sources, but they've always corrected it when I called them out on it.

What's UCC? Whatever faults TA may have, it's still the only game in town for the Achievement timeline/commenting system they have (that I know of) and has a massive community. They make Achievement hunting and socializing with fellow gamers better, so I wouldn't give 'em up for anything.

Weird that you didn't get the FR, Tyler, but I accepted yours. Thanks man.

"User Generated Content", Basically they take no blame for content submitted to the site. I asked to have some of my videos removed as I don't support them and they basically said tough luck and cited YouTube's UGC clauses for the end user while directly missing revenue restrictions such as an ad supported web sites. They had changed their TOS a long while back to leverage ownership of all submitted content (E.G. Facebook owning certain rights to your submitted photos) and I removed all of my content and requested deletion of my account (though the Outinthedark page still exists for some reason) as there was no opt out of this policy change.

Their community stuff is fine. It's the selfish content rips from other sites that gets me. Crediting someone is one thing when you use portions of their guide, ripping their content nearly entirely is not the same thing.

Well, people not knowing who I am is kinda the appeal of using a different name. Besides, I just normally use different names for different sites. I guess I just go with whatever I feel is appropriate when signing up, but I tend to use Murgatroyd7 for most gaming sites, which is what I also use on WPCentral.

Sally's Salon permanently price dropped, no DOTW yet

Guess I can't understand that viewpoint. Wherever I go on the internet, I am still me (and proudly so). But I may have seen your comments on an article or two at some point, and they're definitely appreciated.

kinda figured Sally's Salon was a permadrop swing as the sequel came out with a cheaper price. Didn't the same happen with Monkey Ball?

I haven't posted in a while, but I have been checking up here and there. Haven't bought a game in a while so I grabbed Roll in the Hole and I'm enjoying it using the touch controls, I'm also looking forward to hearing about more info for the DotW.

Yeah, I'm almost done with Roll in the Hole, it's an easy recommend for a buck. Achievements really don't seem all that hard, I'll need to go back and pick up a few popsicles, but none of them seem too tough at all.

I'm still me as well; people just don't always know it. Heh. I dunno, I'm not afraid of people knowing who I am or anything like that, I just like being private sometimes. Not really sure how to explain it. Also, a big part of it is that ZombieToast was already taken when I signed up for Xbox Live, so I went with Murgatroyd7 because that's what I usually name my electronics (there's a stupid reason behind that). And then I decided that I would just use that whenever I play games or join gaming-related sites. Because I see WP7 as an extension of XBL, I also use that name for WPCentral. I didn't use my gaming moniker when signing up here largely because there's a lot of traffic and I didn't want to worry about getting bombarded with friend requests on XBL (because I'm so charming!). I know it sounds stupid, but I'm slightly antisocial when online. I'm an outgoing and personable guy in real life, but online, I don't want people bothering me most of the time. I absolutely refuse to use any sort of chat and I also refuse to use a headset on XBL unless I'm playing someone I know pretty well. I'm an internet loner.

Oh, hey, I just noticed that WPCentral is mentioned in a Windows Phone article in the latest issue of PCWorld (page 18). I imagine it's probably not the first time and it only says something about you guys getting your hands on a Tango phone, but I thought I'd point it out.

I bought Roll in the Hole and Max and the magic marker and so far im enjoying both a lot.It seems as microsoft loves to charge me twice for every other game it seems as im always on customer service with them on the phone.

So I had an incident with my Focus and its now dead. Does anybody have any suggestions on where I can pick up a cheap WP7 or even Android?

My contract is up in December, so I want to hold out and pick up a WP8, but I just need something temporary until then.

has anyone here had an experience with the different gameboy apps on wp7? i've been itching to play some old school final fantasy/pokemon, lol.

really disappointed about no dotw still, and about wp8 coming so soon. not sure how long wp7 has been going, but i just about hit the year mark for mine.

Purple Cherry is good but I've heard of multiple issues with the Pokemon games, I've not tried one myself.

Get the trial and I believe you can load in 1 game at a time, so you could try Pokemon and FF and see how they play. As long as you have legally obtained roms of course ;)
Galaga Legions DX comes out tomorrow

Also, on the deal front you guys will be both pleased and disappointed tomorrow... That's all I can say.
Guessing that DotW is coming back, but only for WP8.

EDIT: HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH at that Galaga Legions price. I didn't even like the Xbox version, I can't imagine playing this on a phone.

I hope you are wrong... ;)

I'm guessing we will get one of the games that has been on sale multiple times already. The Sims again?
Wow, $6.99 for Galaga Legions, thats a bit too high for my tastes.
I wouldn't drop 6.99 for it on my phone or pad, probably. I own it on xbla and it is fun, but i know i would enjoy it more on the go. I was one week off on the release date, :)

On dotw maybe it comes back, but it is a rehash of the same sales?

Or maybe it is for w8 dotw not wp8, nahh. I plan on getting a surface if the price is right, here is hoping for dotw for the tabs
Ouch, got some sort of weird saving error on Roll in the Hole. Only had 358 Lollipops at the time.
Ugh. I got the exact same error, and I too was only a few lollipops away from getting them all. I'm hoping there is some way around it or it gets patched. It's a somewhat short game, but I really do not want to play every stage and collect every lollipop again.

Yeah, no way I'm playing it again. It wasn't THAT fun.

I thought WP8 doesn't release until next month? If that's the case, I can't imagine DotW being WP8-only. My guess is that it's either a crappy sale or a repeat. Personally, I have no issue with the latter.

I think its closer to two months, as the handsets aren't likely to hit stores until early November.

eastx:

Can you contact Eccentricity at [email protected] (or whatever contact you have for them) and find out about the "Roll in the Hole" Save Error problems?

Two of us here have encountered it, but not sure how widespread the problem is. I sent them an e-mail already, but figured you might have more stroke.

Hmm, I noticed several people saying they bought Roll In The Hole on WP7 for 79 cents instead of 99. What's the deal with that?
I think its closer to two months, as the handsets aren't likely to hit stores until early November.
Well, that's still the same general timeframe (I read that it might be October 26). Either way, my point remains.

That's 79 pence, not 79 cents.

Sure, I'll email the Roll in the Hole dev for you, Gunstar.

Someone did guess the reason we'll all be disappointed today... Should have an article up for it in a bit.

I don't want my comments to discourage anyone from buying "Roll in the Hole". It really is a fun game and good for playing when you only have a few minutes. I fully support any developer who puts out a decent game at a $0.99 price point with very fair achievements.

The likelihood of getting the Save Error is probably slim and not a deal breaker. If I end up having to delete and re-install the game, I guess it's worth a second play through.

I was thinking I may have caused the error myself, by exiting in and out of the game too much after completing the level but before all the points tallied. Not sure that's the reason, but just to be safe you may want to exit to the main menu before exiting the game.

I experienced a glitch yesterday, but I'm not sure if it's the same "save error" previously mentioned.

On level 4-9, I only collected 2 popsicles my first try. Instead of immediately replaying the level like I usually do, I exited the game to play later. When I returned, I replayed level 4-9, collected all 3 popsicles, then completed a few more levels. The next time I looked at the level select, level 4-9 only showed 2 popsicles collected. No matter how many times I replay and re-collect all 3 popsicles, the level select screen only shows 2 collected.

I think I'll stop playing for now until they release an update, or someone else finds a fix.
Windows Phone is doing some stupid Nokia announcements in NYC I guess, I hope your article doesn't get buried Paul.
Yup, that's why it hasn't been posted yet (was ready at 6:30 AM). Holding out a bit longer and then we'll post it.

Speaking of Nokia, I'm disappointed they didn't announce a big screen model. Screen size is the most important factor to me, and I'll hate settling on anything less than 4.7 inches.

Edit: Looks like we published! The Xbox Live DOTW returns with a whimper

Yeah, I think screen size is important to a lot of us WP owners who use it a lot as a gaming device. I hate my Arrive's screen size when I see my friend's Lumia and his wife's Titan.

Nice to see DotW back, and I'm actually not that disappointed with the offering. I'd much rather this be on sale for the first time than something like The Sims on sale for the 5th time.

Like I commented on the actual article, did you get any word as to WHY Deal of the Week went MIA for a month? And thanks.

They promised me an interview about the DOTW so I sent all these questions... And then no response. :( Sorry to get your hopes up, but I did try to find that stuff out!

No worries, I appreciate you trying. It's not uncommon for MS to be very tight lipped about their business strategies, even seemingly tiny one's like their strategy for WP DotW apparently.

It's totally their right to be so tight-lipped about things like that, but I don't think it's always the best for customer satisfaction. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little perturbed by the whole situation, and with them not stating a reason for the hiatus, just makes me wonder if/when it will happen again...

On the subject of screen size, I actually prefer something in the 4" range, because I want something that's small enough to actually fit comfortably in my pocket. Some of the 5" android models are just way too big for my taste. That being said, did I read correctly that the Lumia 820 will have the same 800x480 screen resolution that WP7 has now? That's disappointing. I have a Lumia 710 with that resolution, and I find the pixel density to be way too low compared to my iPhone. With a bigger screen, the pixel density will be even lower, and that is a bad thing. I mean, games look fine, but it's hard to read small text with the low density.
