Title pretty much sums up my issue.  My Wired Xbox 360 controller that I primarily used for PC gaming died earlier today; I'm assuming some sort of internal hardware failure since it cannot connect to either my PC or X360 console.  Looking for advise whether or not I should just buy another wired Xbox 360 controller or should I wait for when the Xbox One controllers get released?

The Xbox One controllers won't be PC compatible until sometime next year and I'm sure they will be at least $50.

Do you have any wireless Xbox 360 controllers, if so your best bet would be to get a wireless gaming receiver. Those allow you to use wireless Xbox 360 controllers on PC and only cost $10-$20.

The wireless PC receiver is a much better choice for the 360 controller.

Just make sure you read the reviews on them. 99.9% of them are knock offs that have some reports of not working.

I managed to luck out and get the official adapter and a wireless controller during a newegg sale for ~$30.

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll scour for deals for the wireless receiver.  I'm hoping/ assuming prices will drop at launch of the new console.
