Doesn't seem to be a clearance deal as they have plenty of copies in an end cap in front of the game section at my local CC, but they are selling World Series of Poker 08: Battle for the Bracelets on the 360 for $20. This game is still $40 new and $30 used at most other stores so if you're looking for the best of the Activision WSOP games then this is your ticket.

Playing fake poker is a waste of time. Spending $20 to play fake poker is even worse.

Take that $20 plus tax and deposit it into one of the handful online poker sites and see if you can build it up.

... or lose it in 5 minutes and be out $20. Or even better, lose it in 5 minutes and then start dumping more money into some site in an attempt to win your $20 back, which will likely result in losing even more. Seriously, unless you already play poker professionally (which most people do not, regardless of what they think and say), spending $20 on a game that will teach the rules, odds, and strategies, while you lose fake money learning, is a pretty good deal.

I'd recommend this game for $20. I wouldn't bother much with the achievements, though, as they are kind of tough (some require you to place 1st in a number of games / tournaments and luck plays a little too much of a factor to make this fun). The online play is a nice feature as well, although I'm not sure what kind of state it is in these days.

And how are you getting your money out of that website since the anti-poker website legislation went into effect?

I actually enjoy using the mic to chat to the other players on WSOP 2008.
It will occasionally drop you during multi-table tournaments, but it's the best poker game for the the XB360 IMHO still.

Serious players (i.e. not going all in every 5 minutes) can check out 5srpoker.com for daily games with good, friendly players.

Later,
EG

It's pretty simple actually.

Get a check or use epassporte.

Well, I guess I'll chime in here. I actually play poker online, and it is not hard to get my money onto or off of a major site (I think it's reasonably common knowledge which those are). You can actually get a check, and your bank will cash it with minimum issues. Sure, if it's $5,000, it might be an issue, but for a few hundred, I've never been questioned.

Though, what I would argue is that these sites will let you play in "free rolls" where you can win real money while putting up nothing. Sure, they'll have 3,000 people in them, and only 50 will get anything (and if you win, you'll get $15, but you aren't risking anything, and you can learn the rules as well.

I'm not saying that buying a poker game is bad. If this is how you want to dabble in the game, great. Personally, I have issues playing the game with nothing on the line, especially a game where luck does play a role, at least in the immediate game.

Appreciate the info from you and Trenchalicious. I apologize for going on the defensive from the previous poster's dissing of a casual player like myself. I am a regular dabbler when it comes to poker on the Xbox. A 21 person table takes about 2.5 - 3 hours to finish on the x360 WSOP game. Can't imagine the time needed for a 3,000 person freeroll. As Tommeeboy said above, WSOP 08 does a pretty good job at introducing the strategies and rules associated. Even has hand odds and pot odds calculators (that can be turned on or off by the online host) for those beginners or math challenged. Unfortunately, you have to listen to Phil Hellmuth teach them to you (dude's got skills but can't stand the persona). The important part is finding a group of console gamers who will take the spirit of the game seriously enough, even if no money is in play. I understand how you would feel the need for true risk in the game though. Certainly tempers those pushing all-in early on gut shot straights or worse.

For the social aspect of it, I do enjoy playing on the 360 just for bragging rights and talking with other players. Perhaps when my schedule slows down during the summer, I'll dabble on the "for pay" sites now knowing of the low investment and that I could actually see a return without a change in the law.

Good luck at the tables,
EG

Not everyone is interested in 1) playing on a PC, 2) playing for money, or even 3) playing with others.

Well all I can tell you is my local CC has 10 of these in stock and the printed official CC sticker on it says $20. Don't know why it's not that price online.

You should take your own advice.

The methods I use to deposit

Pokerstars - Instant E-Check, ePassporte
Full Tilt - ePassporte, pre-paid Visa

What most of the Kool-Aide drinking public doesn't seem to understand is that playing on-line poker is NOT ILLEGAL. But because they are armed with a keyboard, mouse, monitor, and an internet connection, they know it all.

So have fun burning $20 + tax on fake poker. When you could turn that $20 + into real liquid...

But you would have to be good at poker to do that. And I'm betting that people who drop money on a poker video game aren't all that skilled.

Yeah, they're called unemployed....

You're really adding nothing to this thread by posting in here. Yes, we know, you think it's a waste of time and you're probably some crazy amazing poker player on the level of Brunson, Ivey or maybe Tilly. Who knows? This is a thread for deals, not for some dude with an inflated poker ego to crap on people for wanting to play something they may enjoy.

I don't have much time to go the casino and have had some bad luck dealing with the online accounts, so maybe this is just a way to unwind. Sadly, your mind may be too narrow to see that. So, by all means.

Yet you felt the need to spam it up more
Did anyone else confirm this deal in-store since it's not online???
Yes. This has been an end-cap game at CC for a while.

Or not.

Bye bye BIGDADDYJN it was (not) nice knowing you...

WSOP 07 was a great title, and i had a boatload of fun with it last year. If youre an amatuer/pro, or even hobbiest poker player, and have Xbox Live its a great buy. If you have the Vision Camera its even better.

Im pretty sure ill take the bus ride later this week to snag one. Thanks op.
