I was talking to a friend.. XBox 360..

I was hoping it meant that on one side is the XBox 2 drive, and on the other side is one for the XBox.. hi2u backwards compatible!

So.. what's it mean? Anyone know?

Its a marketing strategy for a couple of reasons. First it makes for the next Xbox not sound inferior to the PS3 (Xbox 2 would sound beneath the PS3). It also takes a stab at Nintendo's next system, the Revolution (as 360 degrees is a complete revolution).

There is also speculation that the shape of the system will be somewhat round or ring shaped. The intro movie on the Web site was titled Ring of Light, instead of simply intro or movie. Also the Xbox release show on MYV is being hosted by Elijah Woods, star of Lord of the Rings.

All these are speculation but it has pretty good continuity.
360 is one full rotation on a snowboard, as the game 1080 would tell me...
No shit, sherlock.

FYI - a 360 is a full rotation on anything, not just a snowboard.

Wow... that is well-thought out. I never took the analogy that far, but it definitely works.

EDIT: Scorch, that smiley cracks me up.

 I thought you'd like that one Scorch.

And yes, I knew a 360 was a full rotation for everything. I just got done playing some 1080 though...

I hope they dont tell the public its a symbol of their 'new' take on and approach to the gaming market.... The only thing sadder then would be the fact that most people would over look that it means they're doing the same shit over again.

A 360 is a cool thing to witness in basketball when someone dunks or any of the extreme sports but it sucks as video game system name. I just don't see what they are trying to say. Are they saying that they have been in the business long enough to pick up new tricks and return to their roots??? I could see Big N doing this but it doesn't make much sense for MS. Than again what do I know, I'll be buying the system whatever they decide to name it.

Its marketing, so uninformed people don't assume that the Playstation 3 is a step ahead of the Xbox 2. I really liked Xenon myself, or maybe Xbox: Xenon, with Xbox in small letters. Maybe with this customization crap they're pushing now, I can customize the name plate to say Xenon.

I want a crystal case that glows... and controllers that freaking light up when i press buttons (like DDR at the arcade) but above all else.. same xbox live account backwards compatability.

yahoo 360
xbox 360

who knows..who cares..if it plays games better than the ps3, they'll get my money..if not, then no

i'll probably call it "xbox"

like if somebody calls and i'm playing it and they ask what i'm doing .. i'll probably say "playing xbox"

actually i'll probably say "i'm playin the new xbox"

i tend to just throw 'new' in front of titles instead of saying the number at the end..

hmm...never thought of it that way...great insights :applause:

I think they're trying to imply completeness, as in a machine that can do it all for your gaming needs. It covers all the bases. (This seems to be reflected in their determination to line up genres that were undersupported on Xbox while continuing with those that scored well for them.) It's just a matter of good ad work to make it pay off. A product image design can go either way. The Sega Swirl on the Dreamcast made for a good high recognition logo but also later fueled Sega Death Spiral jokes.

refers to circle jerk...as in what a group of xbox fanboys do while discussing the uber power emitted from the new xbox and how all the sequels released on it are going to pwn ju...such as their original titles, halo3, 4, 5, mechassault 3, 4, Ghost Recon 3-8, Prince of Persia 3-5...you get the point

Heh, I do that too. Except when they ask what I'm doing or what I'm gonna do. "Go play some Nintendo"
