Before anyone gets their hopes up, Randy Savage won't be in the game nor will any WCW legends who have not been in WWE.

Hopefully they won't try to rush it into a "game a year" schedule SvR is in. Give it time to breath and use two years to polish the fuck out of it.

So wait, is the title an absolute indicator of the pro-wrestlers scheduled to appear in the game? Will it only be those who have appeared on a WrestleMania card, or will it allow a wide variety of WWE legends?

I imagine this game will feature challenges of reenacting WrestleMania main events, so I assume we're getting Mr. T. ;) What about the WrestleMania 4 World Heavyweight championship tournament? Will Vince McMahon actually put Randy Savage into the game?

This game has a lot of potential.

They will probably just take the '08 engine, replace the roster with Legends and tweak the modes.

No, Savage will not be in the game unless McMahon has a change of heart soon. He's scrapped a Savage DVD and a Savage Classic Superstars figure, so he won't make an exception for a video game.

WWE Legends?

They should rename it to WWE Scoopslams.

We have a winner!
In other words, 60 dollars for SvR with new skins. Gotcha
Yes, but I hate to admit it... as long as they actually skin the legends well and give them the correct music, I'm completely down for it.

Mind you, not for $60, but then I haven't spent full price for a WWE game since Day of Reckoning 2. ;)

I'm hoping that this will essentially consolidate the legends from previous games plus ad new ones, though I'm not sure how this will effect the legends roster for SvR09.

Lets not forget the flying double axe handles and atomic drops. Jake the Snake also has a mean DDT.

That's a new way to spell "Acclaim".

Double-axe handles off the middle turnbuckle is where it's at.
Finally sleeper holds that last for over two minutes or CAN actually end a match!
That means Randy Orton would fit in well with this game.

It's an interesting idea but I feel like it sets a bad precedent. I'm honestly surprised they haven't tried selling us separate games for the Raw and Smackdown "brands" yet.

So is this THQ's way of cramming in one last game before their contract runs out? Or did that get renewed?
WWE Legends?

Brilliant.....I was thinking the same thing when I saw this. Really, do I want to have the pleasure of harnessing the move sets of; Andre the giant, huku, hulk hogan, and the ultimate warrior. Witness the amazing team moves of LoD. Seems kinda a boring, and I actually thought Svr08 was decent! (for 19.98 of course!)
In other words, 60 dollars for SvR with new skins. Gotcha
You're spot on, but anyone who pays $60 for this needs their head examined. It'll plummit like the proverbial lead ballon and will be nestling in the bargain bin before you can say "Shock Master".

You don't watch mythbusters, do you? Lead balloons can float. ;)

Don't forget horribly inaccurate movesets aside from the finisher and generic and/or missing entrance music for half the people that had music worth remembering. Can't wait to hear Lillian Garcia announcing in the Wrestlemania 3 arena.

Someone put this game out of its misery before it gets started.

This game disgusts me, already. Now, we are 100% assured that SDVR09 will not reach it's full potential, because they will be busy making this game as-well.

There is just no point to it. Simply add the legends to SDVR09, or better yet... make them DLC.

Even though I must buy every wrestling game, I think I might have to pass on this one when it comes around, unless they amaze me and somehow make this good.

Here is an article from IGN about this game. Hogan, Andre, Heenan confirmed. Also you can hear Gorilla Monsoons voice. Red, white, and blue ropes. Old school style WWE logo, also logo on turnbuckles. Plus in the trailer it shows the legends blue bar cage in a way at the end. Cant wait for this game.
Also you can hear Gorilla Monsoons voice.
Well yeah, that was taken from the actual match.

The game looks great, the arenas look pretty accurate, the fans are holding up the Hogan foam fingers, the blue steel cage.. I can't wait to hear more.

Yeah but i hope that monsoon is in the game, and they use old tapes to grab his voice overs to use in the game. Cos Monsoon = win! Plus it would sound a lot more realistic than anything JR, Cole, Tazz, or whoever can do in the studio.

I'm *cautiously* optimistic.

I want this game to be good, I really, really do. If done right, this has the potential to be the best wrestling title in years. It sounds good so far... but so have most of the SvR games, until you play them.

Anyway, I'm interested in seeing whether or not Hogan w/o bandanna makes the final cut, since it never has in the recent past. It's certainly a sign that he needs the money, anyway.

The last, and somewhat obvious, question I have with this game is: will this take away from the Legends in SvR 09? We've already confirmed Hogan and Andre, and Bret Hart (a legends mainstay, apparently) seems confirmed by the Bret Hart shirt on a fan in one of the pictures. So... will they hold back on legends in 09 in order to boost interest in this game, or will it be business as usual?

There's also Flair shirts in the audience, as well as old school Undertaker (purple gloves, hat with purple trim). There's a red shirt that tons of fans are wearing but I can't make it out.

//edit: It's a Legion of Doom shirt.

http://ps3media.ign.com/ps3/image/a...legends-of-wrestlemania-20080714095533785.jpg

right below the top left turnbuckle.

So that makes Undertaker, Flair, Hogan, Andre, Heenan, Bret Hart and LoD.

It kinda pisses me off that all these shirts are at a match that's supposed to be at WM3, but whatever

But what are these two shirts?

wwelegends32vk6.jpg

Heenan looks okay. A bit too creepy, in that picture.

So far, it looks a bit like Legends of Wrestling. Particularly, the smooth art style. Didn't the developers say they were going to create a new engine for this game? I wonder if it will be similar to Legends of Wrestling? One would figure they'd cut costs and just toss in the Touken Retsuden engine.

So the roster, so far, consists of people who have already been legends in previous SvR games.

They should announce new guys, and stat.

And definitely keep out anyone on the current roster. I get Stone Cold, The Rock, etc. - but not so much Triple H or Cena. You know HHH will make it into the game, though - as "Hunter Hearst Helmsley," perhaps.
Show me Razor Ramon or Demolition and I'll buy 7 fuckin' copies.
WWF Arcade Game (Snes) FTW, it has shawn michaels, doink the clown, razor ramon, and 5 other character
Yeah don't be surprised if you see pretty much all previous Smackdown vs. Raw "legends" in this game.

If the utilized even 50% of the "classics" that they have for the toy series...then I would be down. Also they have to understand there is also WCW legends as well. If they had the old Saturday night arena, Dusty rhodes screaming "itzz clubberin'--thas two fisteds on one guy!", while Brian Pillman pounds on a member of High Voltage, and Glaciers in makes the save, they got my money. Also include the bungie cord match as a match option.

doubt we will see wcw stars in a 'mania game

My guess is they will establish a time line..maybe mania 1-12. They would replicate the first 12 arenas etc plus stars...

Legends of Wrestling i think will always have the better roster because it focused on all legends.. just not wwe. That ultimate roster included hogan, warrior, perfect, bret and owen, savage, ddp, sting, etc... Even Tony and heenan on the mic.

That engine was horrid. It started to show some promise by the time the 3rd installment came out but then Acclaim went bye bye. And ofcourse it needed some more production value in the entrances/music. (something that without a doubt this wwe game will accomplish)

I also expect to see some current stars but if thq wants to get the attention of all the marks, then we better see classic taker with old song and bearer, old hbk with old tights and glasses, etc

I'm not really excited for this, but it is cool they recreated the look of the Silverdome entrance on that Andre pic above.

Demolition would be awesome if they actually ponied up the money for the theme, but I'm not sure if Ax & Vince ever kissed and made up after the legal battle over the rights to the gimmick.

Their theme was not edited out of the Royal Rumble box set, FWIW.

New preview on this game at IGN

http://ps3.ign.com/articles/891/891385p1.html

Wow this sounded great, presentation wise. Then i read the following.

Of course, that's a simplified version of how easy it is to go from the opening bell to a winning pinfall. When you're attempting to pull off these chain attacks, the screen will flash between moves. When that happens, both players have to hit a button. If the wrestler on the offensive side gets the tap in first, the chain continues. If the guy on the defense blocks the move, the chain is broken and he's in control.

Umm this really turned me off. One thing i hate is when buttons appear on the screen and you have to press that button asap. I havent played or seen it yet, but im really dissapointed to read that part. Otherwise the game sounds awesome.

lol they stole the controls from Legends Of Wrestling

It's strange how much they seem to be following in the footsteps of Legends of Wrestling, yes.

While I applaud them for trying something new (or... old, I guess), I still don't understand why they didn't just use the Smackdown engine and controls. People are used to them, so why force them to learn new things for a game that, if they buy Smackdown, they'll likely also buy anyway? I deeply want this game to be good, so I don't get why they'd gamble on controls that might not feel right. Not that the SvR engine is great, but at least it's comfortable and 'safe'.

... oh, and I hope to god this means we get a 'legend' HBK. I'm tired of those damn new pants. ;)

The first publisher to do a barely halfway-decent rip-off of No Mercy for the 360 will get my money. Even if it was only DoR2 with reduced loading times, I'd be in.

With any luck they'll strip the legends outta SVR09 altogether and use the space for more of the actual roster.
