Also isn't the guy who played Victor the same guy who played Sabertooth in the first movie? If it was , I was hoping that something happened to Victor that causes him to be all hairy and he loses his memory just like Logan did.

Two different approaches, i personally would like a mix of the two. Liev Schreibers acting, tyler manes build...
I just got back a few hours ago from this movie. It was good.. Not great, but good. I was expecting Professor X's scene to be from the back only with Patrick Stewart's voice over, but when the camera came around I was like WHOA...how much did Stewart get for that scene?!?!?!

So how did X become wheelchair bonded? I thought his powers is what caused his condition.

Also isn't the guy who played Victor the same guy who played Sabertooth in the first movie? If it was , I was hoping that something happened to Victor that causes him to be all hairy and he loses his memory just like Logan did.

Sorry I am so out of touch with the comic series.
He is a mutant. By definition, that means he was born with his abilities. The premise in the X-men setting is that most mutations don't manifest until puberty. This allows them to play off all kinds of metaphors about the difficulties of adolescence. Like taking on a monstrous form being metaphorically like having severe acne.

The comics story of how Xavier was crippled is described in the wiki:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professor_X

It happens well into his adulthood, after traveling extensively, including befriending and parting ways with the man who would become known as Magneto.

The portrayal of Deadpool was extremely disappointing, but I was rendered numb after witnessing the sacrilegious treatment the Juggernaut received in X3.

he was piss poor and they chose the wrong guy to play him. fuck that guy is superhero film poison. every one hes in is shit. dunno how they plan on doing a solo film on that character after ruining it like that.

Ryan Reynolds is the wrong person to play Deadpool? Seriously? I agree they dicked the character, but that was an issue with the writing, not the actor. I couldn't think of a better person to play Deadpool.

Deadpool isn't supposed to be all that physically intimidating. He's sort of like spidey in that he's a smart ass who likes to wise crack on people. He just backs it up with guns and swords.Reynolds pulled that off pretty well i thought, it's just that he barely had any screen time.

Agreed here, Reynolds is probably the only person I'd see play that role. I can't now see anyone else trying to pull that off.

I just wish that he had more screen time... all of them in fact. Seemed like all the other mutants were cameo shots.

Maybe we're judging it harshly... I think it could/should have been longer, 2.5 hours at least, give it more action, but it did tell a good enough story.

I think bastardizing Deadpool though was awful. They should have just kept it Weapon XI and state it's another mutant and the original Deadpool was dead... then they could have pulled an origin movie himself with maybe a sequel following up to Wolverine's.

I hope the 2nd one... if they make it, have Yoko, and the Silver Samurai and they don't fuck that up... and hope that the Yakuza and the Hand is there, for some nitty gritty all out fight brawling claws and blood and more blood.

fuck.... get Quentin Tarantino to do this... it would be exciting.

Reynold's Deadpool wasn't all that different than his part in Blade 3, which was actually a good thing surprisingly.

Like most, I hated the movie. It just seemed like they just wanted to make a dumb action movie, and just throw in as many Mutants as possible.

It's so bad and terrible and most of all frustrating because Wolverine is such an awesome character with such an awesome story, I knew there was a good movie somewhere. They should have focused more on a bad guy other than William Stryker, as Revenge of the sith proved, having a villain in which you know the outcome, doesn't make for a good movie. And I wished they would have focused much more on his origins, and not just the weapon x program.

Also, they didn't explain a lot of things. Like why he goes by logan, that his real name is James Howlett, when he discovered that he has regenerative capabilities. etc.

And the two best parts of the movie were deadpool and Gambit, problem is they didn't have NEAR enough screen time, and quite frankly shouldn't have been in the movie anyways and they should have had less mutants and just focused on Wolverine.

Break out the torches and pitchforks -- a sequel is in development.

Variety reports that Hugh Jackman and Seed Productions partner John Palermo are developing a sequel to X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Fox and Seed are in development on a sequel to "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," which topped the domestic box office over the weekend.

The Seed partners have begun planning the sequel, which they are squarely focusing on the samurai storyline originated in the comic series, and whose Japanese locale was teased after the film's final credits. A writer has yet to be hired. Seed will produce.

Personally, I enjoyed the first one enough to look forward to a sequel -- especially if they work on some of the criticisms the first one got.

Oh man, that is guaranteed to suck. You know they won't have Silver Samurai in his armor, if he's even in the movie.

I fear as that as well.....

damnit.

Taking away the armor kind of takes away the entire 'Silver Samurai' thing. But sadly enough, you're probably right.

I'm just hoping they throw in some Hand ninjas as the face-less foot soldiers for Wolverine to tear apart. He got to fuck up the grunts pretty good in X2, I'd love to see more of that savage side in his own movies.

And in some hopefully redeeming news, a Deadpool spin-off is officially in the works:

Deadpool Spin-Off Moving Forward
Source:The Hollywood Reporter
May 5, 2009

20th Century Fox is developing a X-Men Origins: Wolverine spin-off featuring Deadpool, the wise-cracking mercenary played in the film by Ryan Reynolds, says The Hollywood Reporter.

Reynolds is attached to reprise the character for what for now is simply being called Deadpool. Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios would act as producers.

The project is currently out to writers.

The trade adds that the studio considered a Deadpool spin-off early in "Wolverine's" development process, which is why it cast Reynolds.

I have a really dumb question buts its been bugging me since I saw the movie:

Is the Sabretooth in this flim supposed to be the same character as the first X-Men movie, or is it a different mutant with the same name? And if he is supposed to be the same Sabretooth is there anywhere that explains why he does no know he is Logans brother?

Gambit spin-off as well:
IESB caught up with Donner during the press day for the newest X-MEN film in Beverly Hills this past weekend for an exclusive video interview.

Gambit, she says is one of her favorite characters, he's "such a rogue."

Will we see Gambit in the upcoming X-MEN FIRST CLASS film? Nope, we won't see Gambit in that, he wasn't part of Xavier's first class a the school, but it looks like we may be seeing him in his own spin off film.
Donner says, "There are internal discussions" about a Gambit spin-off and "they are going to figure all that out."

What about bringing back X-MEN and X2 director Bryan Singer for another go around?

"Nothing would please me more than to bring Bryan [Singer] on for another movie. And, if it's like the first Deadpool or the first Gambit, I think, I mean, I hope he would be interested..."

Looks like the X-MEN franchise isn't going anywhere and still has a few tricks up her sleeve.

Deadpool and Gambit are coming if Lauren Shuler Donner has her way, and she usually does.

I'm stoked for Gambit. I don't really know much of the history behind him, so if they screw it up it won't bother me, like it did with what they did to Deadpool.

Speaking of Deadpool...if they do make the movie, I hope to God they re-create the character...the laser, teleporting, Baraka-looking POS doesn't deserve to have it's own movie.

I think that plays into the same lines in how Juggernaut isn't Xavier's Brother, and Wraith is Nightcrawler's father rather than Azazel.

agreed. silver samurai will wear black leather. LIKE EVERY SINGLE MOTHER fuckING CHARACTER IN EVERY SINGLE fuckING FILM OF THIS SHIT SERIES!!!!

NO SEQUEL!!! RRRRRREEEEEBBBBOOOOOOOOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!:bomb: (after the rights get to Marvel and AWAY from Fox of course)

I really wanted to like this movie from the trailer and what other told me about I was expecting a good movie but I was disappoint with the story and the acting. I really went in wanting to like it.

When does fox rights run out? I would love marvel to get back one of its top titles (as well as spiderman from sony)
wraith is night crawler father?

when was this reference made?
I know they made the reference in the Video Game. Not sure about the movie. I'm going to skip the movie...

azazel is nightcrawlers father his half brother is greydon creed both of which was mothered by mystique.
good god. just give everyone a spin off.
heres to hoping for a wolverines mom spinoff..................... i hate what theyre doing to comics in movies its just too much. maybe i come from a jaded place having read comics for years now but i dont think any of the characters in the film represent what i feel the characters should have been . jackman is ok as wolverine but not great. who the fuck was that asian guy btw is he an actual existing charcter from the comics or someone they made up ?

and the deadpool character was crap played by a crap actor. truthfully i dont think theres is a known actor who could play that character convincingly. if he could bulk up and they used the charred face deadpool i think topher grace could do it some justice ( it would take alot of work to pull it off) hell he would have been a better spiderman too. but him being deadpool is a stretch but way better choice than ryan reynolds. on a positive note at least marvel got iron man right though with all the cast changes things could get ugly.

Ryan Reynolds (for the scenes where he looks like himself) was and can be a good Deadpool. Since in Blade Trinity he was basically playing Deadpool Lite, but I don't think it's a stretch for him to be full on sarcastic asshole who kills people for two hours straight. Problem is, is the script and the director.
wraith is night crawler father?

It was made in the video game, which i will only assume is supposed to be canon to the movie storyline.

He was Agent Zero previously known as Maverick, one of the original Team X along with Wolverine, Sabertooth, Kestrel(John Wraith, the black guy), Mastodon(Not in the movie, instead we have Bolt, The Blob, and Deadpool), and Silver Fox(altered as Kyla Silverfox, Logan's lover).

But along with superhuman powers, enhanced strength and self-regenerating healing powers, the slightly unhinged Deadpool can absorb the abilities of dead and captured mutants.

That makes me want to kick a baby in the face.
Eric Foreman as Deadpool? Are you fucking serious?
fuck.... I can't beleive that guy hated Ryan and offers pussy Foreman

Douchebag.

I don't have high hopes for the Deadpool movie :(

:hot:

Why they keep making this guy play such physically strong rolls? Venom and now Deadpool. Someone is losing a bet somewhere.
Where's that quote from?
I wasn't aware that it was a quote... I was just expressing what i would like to do at the moment. Kick a small defenseless child. It would make me feel better. You know, cause they can't fight back.
