Right now X-Men: The Animated Series Volume 3 and Volume 4 are on sale at Amazon for $16.99 each. When I added both DVDs to my cart and checked out, I had an automatic $5 off promotion applied to it. I rechecked the item pages and I saw no advertised promotion.

I also tried removing one of the DVDs, checked out again, and the promotion was gone. I readded, and it was back! My guess is that this is some unadvertised promotion that they have yet to release or something that was just never supposed to be enabled in the first place.

If you plan on ordering these 2 DVD sets, this is a great price! Please let me know if it actually works for any of you so I don't look crazy... :)

Edit: confirmed to work. Also stacks with gold box!
Thanks for sharing, it worked for me as well. Wonder if this discount would combine with goldbox as well.
Sweet. And yes, it does combine with gold box -- volume 3 showed up in mine which is why I tried to order, getting more discounts than I expected! :)

Awesome about combining deals. Volume 3/4 were in my goldbox but so was Batman Beyond season 1 when it was only 10.44. I opted for BB instead. I'll definietly get Volume 3/4 if I can get goldbox and $5 off.

Thanks for the deal

Not all that surprising , seeing that Amazon did the same thing with Volumes 1 & 2. Order them separately for "full" price , or get them together and save more. Makes sense , since they've thus far been releasing the volumes in pairs.

Was hoping to see this in my gold box, but instead I had Wolverine and the X-Men. Oh well, $5 off is better than the full price I'd originally ordered them for -- thanks OP!

Great find, OP. I bit. Now I don't have to wait until the next DD sale like I did with the 1st two.

DVDPlanet sent me 1&2 both with O-rings, I really hope Amazon does the same (or else I'll have to acquire them through other methods).

UPDATE: Received the $5 Amazon Video On Demand credit in my E-mail from this order. You can use it to download the entire S1 of Battlestar Galactica in HD for free (also gives the option the DL in SD after your purchase).

Doesn't seem to matter what two volumes you add to your cart to get the discount. I have volume 2 in my gold box today and I'm considering this. I bought volume 1, though, and really, it's pretty bad. Granted, I'm only about half-way through the episodes, but it has bad animation and sound and terrible voice acting. Does it get any better in the later episodes or is everybody just jacked up over the nostalgia of it all?

It's definitely nostalgia. I loved this show when I was in middle school, but it has not aged well. At all. Like you said, the animation is ass, the voice acting can be pretty cheesy, and the plots are quite poorly-written. If anything, the stories actually get worse in the later seasons. It's still not as bad as the later seasons of the 90's Spider-Man series, at least.

Anyone else notice the description says "discuver..."? Just thought it was funny. Anyway good find OP, loved this show from back in the day.

My son and I have been watching Vol 1 for the past few hours today, currently on episode 7. I just canceled my pre-order.

"I am still plugged in" - Sentinel #127.

I'm going to stop watching before I see an episode where a sentinel knocks over a plant and says "my bad".
Thanks for the heads up. Both volumes appeared in my gold box today so I had to pounce; 27.28 shipped for both.
Dude, what is up with this fluctuating gold box? Does the gold box change for everyone based on past purchases?

Sign into your amazon account and then go to the gold box. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there will be a section "(your name)'s quick picks". It is here that extra items are selected based on your past buying habits. Any items in your quick picks are discounted an extra 5%

Ah. I see. Thank you. I think I have always ignored that because there is always some lame accounting book in there. Buy one (or five) accounting book from Amazon, and you are labeled for life. Weak.
Is Volume 4 the last one to complete this series or is it Volume 5?
Volume 5 will be the last. There are 14 episodes remaining.

I cancelled mine, but apparently the promotion is not going anymore. I have to decide if I want to preorder again or maybe wait and see if they drop the price right after release like last time.

Dumb question, but what is the first episode on vol. 3? Just wondering if it is "No Mutant is an Island" (from season 5) or the one they originally broadcast.....which I can't remember

Thanks

Part one of "Savage Land, Strange Heart", as per original broadcast order.

Promo is still working for me?
Just added Vol. 3 & Vol. 4 to my cart, and still received $5 off of the combined purchase....
Think I might have to use one of my $25 Amazon Visa gift certificates on this one...can't beat 3.98 shipped...

how do you manipulate the gold box? also, I had these preordered, arent they suppose to give you the lowest price? i had to cancel my preorder & do it again

Cancel and do it again. These are promotions separate from the low price guarantee. When the last ones were released, I had to call and argue with them for the five dollars back. It was a huge pain in the ass. I would recommend, just canceling and reordering.

Thanks, it worked for me. I also had Volume 4 in my gold box today so I got both for $28.13 or something. It was nice to save a little bit considering it still isn't out yet.

Got mine today. Can't wait to watch them it's sad that we don't know when Volume 5 will come out. :whistle2:( Can't wait to watch Beyond Good & Evil. Yay!
they should bring out a volume of Spider-Man whenever they decide to bring out Volume 5 of X-Men.
Or maybe X-Men Evolution season 4.
Actually I would take both.

Hopefully when that one comes out... The sooner the better :whistle2:D I don't mind paying full price Volume 5. Hopefully Spiderman TAS will follow soon...

Any word on when that volume will come out? I hope those 4 missing episodes from Vol. 3/4 (at least according to Wikipedia's episode timeline) are included.

One of the missing episodes (one of my favorites in the series) is No Mutant Is An Island where Cyclops quits the X-Men following Jean's death and goes back to his original hometown and gets depowered for a bit and has to deal with mutant-haters who were his bullies before the X-Men and now run the town.

It will be weird watching that on Vol. 5 since that will be out of sequence, if it's included in the Vol. 5 set.

Also are there any problems getting the rights to the 10-episode 5th season since it was done by a different animation studio?

No word on volume five yet, no.

If you check the original air dates on Wikipedia, you'll notice that those four episodes were originally shown out of order, before the final ten episodes of season five. It seems like the DVDs are following broadcast order, so there's no need to worry about those getting skipped.

And there should be no problem getting the final ten, either. They've already aired in syndication alongside everything else. The fact that they were animated by another studio doesn't make any difference.
Of course my Volumes 3 and 4 from Amazon have slipcovers and my Volumes 1 and 2 from Best Buy don't lol Gonna drive me nuts!
Same exact thing happened to me. My OCD wouldn't let that stand, I had to replace volumes 1 and 2.

Weird how Amazon shipped the first 2 volumes without slipcovers and now both 3 and 4 now have them. Guess they made it standard. It just doesn't look right.

How did you replace them? I haven't checked BB yet

Bought from Wal-Mart then returned without the slip covers. :whistle2:# I know, it's shady, but I saved someone else a return: I bought what the slip covers showed as volume 1 and 2, but when I took them off, they were both volume 2.
