Gamecrazy trade in prices are now

Premium $275
Core $225
Xbox $60
Hard Drive $35

Also my store has at least two people getting a 360 so after I am done with the migration cable I will do in store transfers because you lose $15 between the core and the premium.

Also unlike GS/EB these are the regular trade in prices no special deals so you can trade in and buy on two seperate transactions and still get the same price.
In a story that was FIRST reported here at Xbox 360 Rally, it’s now been confirmed that Gamestop will indeed have a special trade-in deal for your current Xbox 360 system!

Xbox 360 Premium: $250
Xbox 360 Core: $200
Xbox: $50

Yes, you even get fifty bones for your original Xbox. Pretty awesome, isn’t it? I think so — and I know for a fact that I’ll be buying an Xbox 360 Elite, so this works out great for me.

And remember… for once, you actually DID hear it here first. (Too bad none of those other Xbox sites are giving proper credit. Douchebags)

Pretty decent deals, IMO.

How is EB going to know that you have a premium system? The distinguishing factor between a core and premium is the hard drive and the wireless controller.

Does that mean I need to give back my old hard drive and thus lose all my saves? If thats the case, then this is a terrible deal.

Exactly.
For the $250 it has to be 360, Wireless Controller + HDD

If gamesaves could save to your gamertag like achievements & downloads do.. well then, it'd be awesome.

I would assume the HDD goes also.

Plus, it has a chrome DVD tray.

Well I guess if you trade in some games now with that 50% coupon (plus 10%) you can get some credit now...I traded in 4 games and I have $120. Thats very nice.

So if I traded my 360 in I would only have to pay like $110 + tax for an elite. Not TOO bad..just would have to buy that Datel transfer thing to save everything on my PC.

Hmmm... I'm almost tempted... but still, to go from Premium to Elite would cost you $230 plus tax, while grabbing the harddrive (and thus only losing out on the HDMI and black color) would just cost you $180...
The premium should atleast get $300. I'm sure if you sell it on eBay it could get you that or more.
Because EBgames doesn't have to sell them themselves to make a measly profit.

I'm just hoping the 40 GB HDD drops in price soon. Thats all i care about. That was really the only reason why i was going to buy the Elite, for the 120 GB.

*Edit: i guess there's only the 20 GB HDD...and the 120 GB HDD? That sucks, all i need is like 40 GB.

Yea, I like how they say they reported it first.... just like anyone could say they would be running a trade in promo since that is what they've done in the past. They didn't have specific numbers until the day the deal started. Maybe they stole it from me and didn't give proper credit there. Anyways, I know its a separate thread for a specific deal that is running that others might not look for in my thread with all the GS/EB deals, but here is the full rundown of deals in this thread. http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=134477
How exactly can you upgrade without losing your saves?
1. Memory card.

2. Transfer kit (included with the stand-alone 120GB HD).
How exactly can you upgrade without losing your saves?
There is a cable that comes with the 120 GB HD which transfers data from your old HD to your new. I guess it's some kind of USB->SATA cable. I'm fairly sure I've read the cable will come with the Elite as well.

I seem to recall hearing that the new HD comes pre-loaded with a ton of content (I'm sure all of it is available in Live Marketplace for free, except Hexic) and that transferring data from your old HD will basically wipe all of that pre-loaded content.

Mine isn't doing pre-orders. Plus of the 2 they say they'll be getting, one of the employees has already spoken for one. So do you trade your 360 in now or wait until launch day to trade it in? That is if there is no pre-order.
1. Memory card.

no matter what if you do this deal you are getting screwed. EB will require you to turn in the HDD to get the "premium" trade in value. Since you can not back up your content without the transfer kit (that will not be out until the 120 gig HDD is avail) you are looking at trading in at the Core price, if you want to "trade up".
I am sure this will be cool for some people, but to me its just annoying. Why would I hand over my HDD, with my game saves, user info, music, downloaded content for an extra 50.00? Sure you can re-download content, but unless you shelled out money for a memory card you'll loose your game saves.
Matter of fact if you buy a card just to transfer saves, so you can then trade in your 360 + HDD you actually are back down to 200.00 (less the cost of a 50.00 512 mb memory card). This is just a horrid deal.
Just another sign that EB is nothing more than a national chain of pawn shops.

I'm pretty sure the Elite does not come with the transfer cable. A really cool EB would do the transfer for you when you bring in your old system.

The big problem: on the new system, you'll lose access to all your XBLA games and premium DLC unless you are logged into XBL with the profile that purchased them. I don't think MS will reimburse points in a situation like this.

For those of you looking for a way to back up your 360 data, this should do the trick. No guarantees that it will work with the 120 HDD, but it should since it's essentially a USB to SATA adapater (and windows recognizes it as such).

One of the great things about using this is you can make an image of the entire HDD and then pull things out of the image piece by piece, so you won't have to overwrite the content of the new 120 HDD
Wish I could get that $50 trade in credit for the old Xbox without having to use it towards an elite.
I thought I'd read somewhere you could, can anyone confirm either way ?

so vet F'ing temped to do this but meh I might just buy an elite and move my old 360 downstairs so my siblings could have something to play with

If EB goes through with this as planned, it's going to be a nightmare for some of the early adopters, especially those who play some of the games with an additional fee, which seem to be tied to the hardware, not just your Live account. Microsoft should have a better strategy in place.

I'd like to know as well.
The edge card does not apply to systems, only games and accessories.
That sucks but I should have seen it coming.

That's why I said in the other thread (I don't know why this one is still open when the other got closed), you'd be a fool to trade in your Premium system. At the very most, pick up a wired controller and trade it in as a core.

I don't know about eb but at gamecrazy if it has a hard drive it is the premium and if it doesn't its the core, and our trade in prices work out to the difference of the trade in price for the hard drive, it doesn't matter if the contrller is wired or wireless.

$190 for core
$220 for premium
$30 for hard drive
$55 for origianal xbox

As stated, it's a $50 difference.

You'll need a controller, so why trade in a wireless? Pick up a wired from Amazon via GCO. Even if you can't transfer the content, you'll still have your HDD available.

This deal is horrible. eBay is definitely a better way to go if you want to get rid of your system. I am not going to bite for the elite. I like the HDMI and the 120 HD, but not enough to drop $480.

How the hell is it annoying? If you don't want the money, don't fucking take it.

It's not like this is someone on eBay, this is a fucking third-party. What the hell do you expect from a trade-in? If you want to eBay it, fucking eBay it. Obviously you're going to get more with a direct transaction than through a middleman.

You people are fucking riddiculous, and hillarious.

Take a breath and walk away from the computer.

Every time I read one of your post; I imagine a fat guy, face blood red, eyes popping out of his head, just barking at the computer screen.

You're ridiculous. The mods have been getting reported posts out the ass about you, and lately there's been nothin' but diarrhea porn comin' out your mouth. Consider this your only warning.

Chill the fuck out.

Nice that you made it here first before me. I wouldn't have given him a warning.

So...

$250 seems like a rip-off. Now, if MS would announce a price drop sometime soon, that would be nice. That, or offer a 40 or 60 GB HDD so that i have a bit more space.
