Do you guys have any other indy games you would recommend?
A few I can think of:

Bleed - Really fun and surprisingly polished sidescrolling shooter. It's really fast and though it's short, packs a lot of variety. Probably a bit pricy at 400MSP, but is definitely more fully realized than 90% of the crap on the indie channel.

Smooth Operators - If you've played any of Kairosoft's games on iOS/Mobile (Game Dev Story, Mega Mall Story, etc.), it's a lot like that except you are managing a call center. It is a bit awkward to control with a controller, but I found what I played a lot of fun and I definitely want to go back.

Wizorb - A cool take on breakout style games, it has a great pixel ascetic and light RPG elements (because what game doesn't have those these days). Only thing I'd knock it for is that it is REALLY difficult at times, but otherwise it is surprisingly fun for such a common game design.

Beat Hazard - Although it's best on PC since that is where most people have their music library scored, it's still a heck of a lot of fun whatever platform you're on. The best way to describe it is a cross between Audiosurf and Geometry Wars, as it takes your music and uses it to influence the enemies and visuals patterns of a twin stick shooter. The upgraded version Beat Hazard Ultra is also available, though I can't comment on what it adds over the original. If you are starting to wonder why you bother keeping music on you HDD, this game will change that.

Just a few I'd recommend checking out. If you want a more broad selection, I mentioned it once but IndieGamerChick is one of the most prolific XBLIG critics, and has a leaderboard of 200 or so of the best games on the platform :)

Anyone here who bought Cloudberry Kingdom actually beat the main story mode yet?  Haha that game can go fuck itself.

I wouldn't pay more than $2 to $3 for Cloudberry Kingdom. It's a poor-man's Super Meat Boy.

Avatar Football

Blockey

Blocks That Matter

Bloody Checkers

Dead Pixels

Escape Goat

Fitba

Pingvinas

Qoccer

Soulcast I & II

Those are all the ones I own and enjoy.

Anyone else get into the WSOP: Full House Pro Beta?

Downloading it right now, 1.10GB

I bought Full House Poker when it came out and played it for a while, then never touched it again.

Hopefully they fix a lot of stuff in this one.

I topped out at 5280MSP from the rewards program. Pretty good for not really doing much. I rarely had to go out of my way to earn those points.

Difficulty is the only thing Cloudberry Kingdom has going for it.

The art and animation are amateurish.

The music is a bunch of crappy techno.

The level design is way worse than platformers where the stages are actually designed instead of generated.

Yeah, I'm in it as of last night. Only played single player, but it's pretty fun. Slowness is a known issue and boy does it load slow at the start.

Indie game alternatives...

If you're into twin shooters (or even shooters in general), XBLIG has a plethora of choices. The demos for Zombie Compound and Grid Space Shooter recently captured my attention and will likely be added to my backlog soon.

Also, the aforementioned Bleed recently dropped to 240 msp.

oh nice, that's even more reason to pick it up ^_^

side note, your links broke as you forgot the closing /

Lol @Bajingo posting my question on Wallace's page before I got a chance to ask it. I hope its a simple solution.

On another note, thanks for mentioning One Finger Death Punch. The only indie games i have ever even looked at were the two Penny Arcade games and the Kthulu ones that everybody mentions.

I hope Major at least mentions something pertaining to the DotW. He just glossed over it not even answering any questions as to why he hasn't been updating us.

You see the warnings here? Apparently even the most skilled gamers in TA have hell of a time with level 319 and so far no one have beating it. :0

The video shows how cheaply designed is this game - you get an level like every other and they fill the screen with flying things and lasers, just for the sake to be hard. Wouldn't recommend this to anyone, especially when you have a lot of quality platformers in XBLIG/XBLA.

I just watched the video on that solution of the AI doing stupid, random jumps. Cloudberry Kingdom looks terrible. You don't pay your neighbor to sift through their garbage, so why pay a developer to immerse yourself in theirs? I wouldn't buy this anyway, especially not for $10.

In my email they said to login and make sure that my billing information is correct because they couldnt deposit the points. Yeah ok. All my info is correct and there like it always has been. Then it says to wait later in the month until they fix it. What bullshit. I wanted to use MY points on something when they are usually deposited every month. Is that too much to ask for? Apparently.

I got that email last month and yesterday and I've had 100 MSP pending. I posted in the Xbox Support forums telling them it won't deposit since I'm in the Dashboard beta. They said they'll escalate my case. I'll let everyone know if they're able to fix it, but I'm not too confident.

Speaking of betas, got my codes for the Batman Arkham Origins and World Series of Poker betas. PlayXBLA made a post about WSP and you just have to email them for a token. Got it the next day.

My favs that ive bought and truly enjoyed, and felt like they were worth more then I paid, are as followed:

Miner Dig Deep, DLC Quest/Live Freemium or Die, Chester, Cursed Loot, ArcadeCraft, Zombie Estate 1/2

Thanks to whoever mentioned Vintage Hero a few pages back, after trying that demo I'm definitely getting that.

I hate hard games so I knew Cloudberry wasn't for me. After seeing the discussions here I'm really happy I didn't buy it.

Sorry if this isn't the right place for this, but does anyone know where I can get a 1-month Xbox Live Gold code? (I don't have access to Bing Rewards.) If anyone has one, or knows where I can get one, let me know! I'd be willing to trade DLC or something of similar value. :)

Oh wow. Like I said I'm on 220 or something, but I might just stop the story mode. Kind of stupid that they'd make the story mode basically impossible to beat. There are powerups that let you play in slow motion and give you a guide ball to follow to beat the level, but apparently even with those, guys aren't able to beat the level. The pogo levels were some of my least favorite, so that really sucks too.

The game is still fun, there are a ton of other modes besides Story mode (Story mode isn't even the main mode in the game) but it's definitely dumb that they'd do something like that in the game. I read several reviews mentioning something like "thanks to the well implemented power ups, the game is beatable by most players with some platforming skill" which seems to be an obvious lie or the reviewer didn't actually play through the whole game.

Seeing that the story mode is virtually impossible, it would probably lower my score of it from a 9/10 to an 8/10. It's still an excellent game.

EDIT: It apparently has some sort of save glitch on the 360 version (I have it for PS3 luckily) so that sucks too, but hopefully will be patched up.

EDIT 2: So apparently the main story ends after level 240, so I'll definitely get through that at least. There is an extra world (with an achievement tied to it) that adds an extra 80 levels up to 320. Not sure if I'll bother giving that a shot.

"Soul" (puzzle/skill game) is a little indie game gem (but very unnerving). I've also enjoyed a lot

- Head shot 2,

- Battle high 2 (fighting game),

- Who's gonna get the girl (memory game), also, boobs

- Quickdraw (reflexes)

- Platformance: temple of death

- Kiss kiss (it's a trivial game),

- PROTECT ME KNIGHT (まもって騎士)(is a very funny NES-like game, but you need friends to play it, It's not so funny alone).

- Maid san's caving adventure (it's a funny platformer game)

I played a lot more of xblig games, but well, just said a few

edit: they added more points to my account due to the rewards programs. So since last december (when it finally was available in my country) I've got 2400MSP. Such a nice and round number.

Speaking seriously about Indie games, anybody that likes Minecraft should check out Xenominer, which is sort of a sci-fi Minecraft where you've crash landed on a planet. It's maybe the only Minecraft clone on the service that isn't just "Minecraft, but ____" since they've rethought a lot of the Minecraft's mechanics to make it a very different experience.

Its not that bad the game is actually pretty fun but like others have said its only a matter of time before the servers get shut because barely anyone plays it.
I played the trial last night, there was about 22 people online total, game was ok but TBH I'd just get a Gears of War game if you're looking for this kind of game.

Its a cool game, very similar to FHPoker, sharing sounds and npc avatars. The exp and chips progression is more well adjusted, more... pro, hence its name, since u can lose ur stacked chips with poor hands or bad luck and its a pain to recover from scratch, unless you pay, real money, microsoft points for chips, yeah microtransactions. The best improvement has been this: while playing a ranked tournament my xbox froze and had to reset; when i loaded up the game, i was thrown again into the match! I auto rejoined! My bot avatar was there folding and waiting for me. I'm still amazed

I couldn't even stand to finish the trials' time allotment. I'm not very picky with games at all, this just happens to be one of the inexcusable failures of the gaming industry.

One of my favorite indie games is CarneyVale Showtime. It's so polished it could be a XBLA game in my opinion. Microsoft must have agreed since it showed up on Windows Phone later. I don't have a WP so I'm not sure how much they improved.

I hadn't ever heard of this but it looks really good. Thanks for the heads up I'll be sure to download the trial sometime (really liking these indie games recommendations, a lot of good stuff is buried under all the shovelware) :)

Hate to say more to my recommendation, but I fully recommend checking out the Indie game "Cursed Loot" if you're looking for a cheap but very entertaining dungeon crawler/roguelike type game. Most fun IBLIG i've played IMO, I still play it every once in awhile, and ive had it and the original for a couple of years.

There are some really great indie games among all the avatar crap and pictures of anime chicks in bikinis. And these indie devs typically test the waters with the $99/year development fee and less strict guidelines before getting their games on Steam, so the XBLIG marketplace is ripe with potential greenlights.

A few I can think of:

Bleed - Really fun and surprisingly polished sidescrolling shooter. It's really fast and though it's short, packs a lot of variety. Probably a bit pricy at 400MSP, but is definitely more fully realized than 90% of the crap on the indie channel.

I only played it on PC but I really enjoyed Wizorb as well.

I second the Beat Hazard Ultra recommendation. It's one of my favorite games on Steam and it's on basically every platform including XBLIG. I download it last week on my phone since it came with a Humble Bundle and ended up playing it for over an hour. Never gets old.

ZP2KX was still one of my favorite indie games that came out, I spent a fair amount of time on that one online and it was only a buck when it launched, there are definitely some gems in the indie store in the middle of all those terrible games :p
