I meant for next week's DotW unless 12 days starts earlier
Ahh sorry misunderstood that...well since the second week would already hit the 12 Days of Christmas....Major Lazy will probably skip this week too and just make a blog post when the 12 Days of Christmas will start lol...on the other side that Ubisoft Sale seems to be announce worthy, right?

Cloudberry Kingdom gameplay is awesome.  The game is ugly and the soundtrack sucks, but that doesn't really matter when the gameplay is all platforming goodness.  There are tons of adjustable sliders to pretty much make whatever type of level you like, plus there are tons of challenge modes using each type of character "Regular Bob, Minibob, Pogo Bob" etc.  As well as a main story mode that consists of 350 levels.  So much platforming content, from simple to hardcore.

It's not easier than Super Meat Boy.  You will not 200/200 Cloudberry Kingdom.

I just saw a video of the last levels 319/320 from Cloudberry. It is impossible to get all achievements in that game without tampering.

Holy mother of fuck....

WTF that looks annoying as hell. I think I will pass on Cloudberry.

There is so much stuff that Major has to post something. Last week it was all Saints Row IV, this week is spread over a bunch of games.

Also his last marketplace info post was on the 19th almost a month ago..

Yeah it kind of sucks that they did this. It immediately turns away completionists, and even non-completionists who still feel like they *should* be able to complete a game they plan to play. Devs shot themselves in the foot a few different ways with this game, which is unfortunate because the game is really cool and had some really good ideas, specifically randomly generated levels which are pretty cool. Also, "hardcore platformers" really aren't what most gamers are looking for. Successes like Super Meat Boy and Spelunky are moreso the exception and not the rule. Marketing this game as a tough-as-nails platformer was not the way to go either.

The game is still easily worth $2.50 to anyone who even likes platformers though. Just don't count on beating it 100%, and go into it as "I'll try and get as many achievements as possible" rather than "I'll beat everything". The first 250 levels of the campaign are easily beatalbe, with the last 30 or so posing quite a challenge but all are conquerable. The super-pain-in-the-ass levels, like the one in the video, don't start until 281, "The Masochist Levels" (which aren't part of the main story anyway, more of bonus levels). I got 13 out of 16 trophies on it (should have been 14 but I kept fucking up) and I consider my time with the game a massive success.

Thanks Tyler, i tried the demo and i think im gonna pass. I enjoyed super meat boy but this amped diff is just not for me.

Call of Juarez games are funny to play. If you like FPS and Western... well, its just that. I cant recall any other game apart from Gun, which btw belongs to past generation, that meets that criteria. Of course online should be dead by now.

Nope

I'm surprised that there are only a few that can beat that level. Doesn't look impossibly hard to just remember the jumps in the video. At least no harder than something like remembering everything in a game like Contra. I kind of want to get the game meow to try it, but highly doubt I'd be able to complete that level (or even get to the level).

Well I bought the game nontheless...but now I know I will never complete it...and that bothers me a little since I AM a completionist...anyway with Server Shutdowns and Content not available outside of NA & CA (I look at you scrabble) I already have a few games on my list that I can't complete anyway...if I know I can't complete something I try at least to beat anything else that IS possible...

Glad to hear you bought it, hope you enjoy it. I hope a few other platforming fans will give it a shot despite the oversights in the game. There is easily 8-10 hours of quality fun content in the game. It's one of the few downloadable games I'll happily defend to the death because I think the amount of good in it really outweighs the couple stupid mistakes the devs made.

Yeah, more and more games are ending up un-completeable nowadays. Hell, for some reason one of the DLCs for Metal Gear Rising isn't available in the US even though it's fairly high profile. What I don't get is how rigid the 360 system is, but that they've just totally stopped giving a fuck on Xbone achieveables. Games can just add them all they want, they have them on fucking apps, even arcade games start at 1000. One of the things that Achievements did better than Trophies was their structure. You could "read" Gamerscore easier overall, and every game having it made it feel a bit better.

Whatever, I've been trying to stop giving a shit about Achievements so this kind of stuff has been helping. They have do have some value when done well, but a lot of people focus on them too much.

It is apparent that achievements did HAVE one single and kind of cool purpose. Those with INSANE scores got an xbox one for free. With the abundance of achievs. you mentioned, they will never have a good promo or prize again for having a high score. So hats off to those who got free systems, the thousands of hours/dollars you spent on the 360 paid off, I guess...

That being said, I really like just having the recorded history-I'm playing through the Mass Effect series again and I like to go back and look when I first played and got to parts of the games years ago. I am so on the fence about jumping to next gen. First I had a xbone pre order, then i said fuck them and cancelled. then was ready to get a ps4, then decided to wait on next gen for a year while I wade through massive backlog-now I'm back to wanting an xbox, thank god the price tag is keeping me from pulling the trigger.

It's definitely worth waiting for next gen. I waited 2 years to get into our current gen, and based on what we know currently it shouldn't be difficult this time. EVERY game I care about for the next year is either on both generations, or still current-gen exclusive like Dark Souls II or South Park. There's still a good chance I'll pick up a PS4 for Destiny, but at least that buys me most of a year. Most of my IRL friends that have something already went Xbone though, so that's going to suck. Surprisingly there still isn't really an exclusive for either console I'm dying to play even on the far off horizon. Everything for Xbox looked terrible or has been tainted by incompetence (Fuse killed any possible hype for Sunset Overdrive, I played some Killer Instinct and it's a pretty bare bones SF4 with flashier combos.) PS stuff is either franchises I'm not that in to or too early to tell.

Wii U has a ton of stuff I want, but it's lack of power means lack of multiplatform games, and that regulates it to second console for me. Though Smash could get me to buy it ahead of the other consoles I guess.

I'm really tempted to get Cloudberry Kingdom but hearing about it being "unfinishable" is putting me off. I don't know what to do.

This definitely makes it easier to wait, and I still have DLC for games I havent even bought yet. HOWEVER, I did recently face something that made me want a next gen system badly-playing battlefield 4 on the 360. My god its ugly, how it was released into the wild is crazy, and with so many patches already, it is like they are punishing you for not buying the new hotness system to play their game on. Traded it in thinking I'd come out on top having snagged it for $25 in gamestops BF sale.... Traded in for $25.10 WITH 30% and 10% PUR bonus. yeesh.

I tried to play on the Xbone version for about half an hour and couldn't connect to any games, and it sounds like it's messed up on pretty much all versions. It was bound to have issues since it was trying to beat Christmas/CoD/console launch. But yeah, 64 players alone is enough to be interesting once they get their shit together.

Getting Outland for sure.

Not sure on Cloudberry. Will have to DL the trial. It's too bad the Scott Pilgrim multiplayer DLC is apparently a lag fest otherwise I would be getting that as well. Scott Pilgrim was one of the best games I played this gen, it sucks they couldn't get that part right because it would have made it even better.

Just replayed the demo for Outland and I'm def getting it, CoJ: Gunslinger and Beyond Good and Evil.

Question do the characters in Scott Pilgrim eventually move faster? When i was playing it felt like they were fighting in molasses. I couldn't stand the demo, but so much praise makes me want to look more into it.

Are you sure you were running? I thought so too until I realized you had to double tap the stick/d-pad to run, which is something a lot of beat-em-ups seem to do.

Really on the edge of ACE Combat Assault Horizon and Birds of Steel.
I need the Demo now.

Btw, several titles got cheaper on UK marketplace i.e Birds of steel, Apache, Call of Juarez, Rayman Raving, Ghost Recon... these are half the price of US market in pounds. (for example Ghost Recon $10 -> uk 5 punds)

I tried playing through Assault Horizon recently and I couldn't get into it, the mechanics of flying round in circles trying to initiate the dog fight mode where frustrating, I prefer WW2 aircraft games TBH.

Glad I waited for From Dust, will pick that and probably Cloudberry Kingdom up.

At what point do you get to save on Cloudberry Kingdom? I believe I made it to level 32 last time I played only to have to restart from level 1.

I have Gunslinger on PS3 mostly because I am more comfortable with the onscreen button prompts there. How are the other Call of Juarez games?

I have the Outland demo and remember liking it .... yet I don't remember why. That will probably be my only purchase this week thank goodness. My Xbox is still busy downloading three Spiderman games, LA Noire, and Red Dead Redemption.

If I only get one CoJ game should I get Bound in Blood or Gunslinger, having never played one before?

I'm pretty sure it saves after every level. Never had any issues saving on the PS3 version. I do recall hearing there may have been some issues with save files deleting though. You may want to research a bit more on that since I can't speak for the 360 version.

Gears 3 a much better game than judgment, and to anyone deciding over the two, just because its older does not mean its bad. There are even way more people online gears 3. DLC is great as well
I actually don't hate Judgment, but the dlc does kinda suck.

Can't bring myself to pay $15 for the Gears 3 pass with my stats being deleted. No way I'll ever get all the achievements for that now. I should pester Epic Games about it.

Just want to say, I recently played through Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, nabbing all the achievements, and I loved it. I did two full playthroughs and part of a third (leveling skills) and didn't get tired of it. Easily one of my favorite games of this generation - loved the whole experience.

Never played a demo, so I can't speak to how faithful it is to the overall feel of the game.

I was interested in this game until I read this lol...
Dammit, me too.

Now I don't know if I should only pick up From Dust instead of both of them.

Oh well, I'm excited for next week's Walking Dead sale. I'll finally have all the episodes on the 360 instead of Steam!

How are the forgotten sands? I'm def in for the Scott pilgrim add ons and outland... Maybe am for gunslinger too... Im sure these won't be the best deals available though... These are some good ones here...

What do you guys think of the AC3 DLC? I just bought the main game for $9.99 on Black Friday and it's in my backlog, but the DLC seems like a decent price. Appreciate any recommendations you guys have.
