Please note:

  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Not sure if you can see them before you have the game but go to you games and apps, look for destiny in the games tab. I know that once the game is installed you can hit the start button and manage game. From there you can see any add ons installed.

I'm very hyped for Destiny. I haven't been considering it much but I played the beta non-stop, such a fun game that just "feels right". Much fresher than Borderlands 2 surely, which was oversaturated (especially thanks to the DLCs). The last 2 FPS games I bought day one disappointed me: Titanfall because it lacks content (there's like 2 good weapons, 1 good titan, barely any modes, no worthy customization, no proper campaign... so repetitive), and Ghosts because it sucks (shouldn't have believed the hype on that but it seemed close to Black Ops 2: not by a long shot). Destiny, you'd better not disappoint me: you're the final day one game I buy for 360 before moving to the One.

I agree with Titanfall being bare bones on content as far as a shooter, but still a pretty fun game.

On the bright side, leaves all the potential open for improvements in a sequel.

It is indeed a lot of fun, but after like 10-20 you realize there is nothing more you can do: you've seen it all really. Lack of customization kills the long-term fun.

I recently achieved gold status on a second Bing rewards account and I am still only getting 15 searches a day, is that the norm now? I still get 30 on my old account but I remember people were all over the map on how many searches they got, just curious if I can expect more next month or if this is it.

The 10 mobile searches help but still...

Its random. The refs are the real money maker here. That's one $5 gift card for every person who reaches silver (which should take like 2 weeks tops).

Thanks I'll be sure to check when I download the game

Just bought my xbox on Friday but have not had a chance to use it until today.

My GF downloaded Forza for the weekend on her One and I must say if Horizon 2 wasn't coming out this month, I would of bought it right there, lol. Lack of tracks doesn't make me want to buy 5 and just get Horizon 2 instead.

With that said, wishing I had better internet. 40 GB would take a few days to download for me sadly.

I recently got into BL2 and after playing the Destiny beta, all I see is the same thing. Even without knowing what Destiny has to offer, I hope it does not disappoint you either! That being said, I think the secret "gimmick" for Destiny is that the competitive multiplayer will be the sustaining factor after everyone is 20+ and tired of adventuring.

I think the "gimmick" will be keeping the game alive for 10 years with expansions rather than full new games.

Except the leaked contract said a game every two years with expansions between. It's probably not totally accurate anymore, but it can't have changed too much.

I'll be shocked if this generation even lasts that long, but I expect Destiny sequels to be released.  Wouldn't be the best decision to release DLC expansions otherwise.

Why wouldn't it? That was Sony/MS explicitly stated as their goal. PS3/360 gen is nearly 10 years old and wasn't intended to be nearly that long.

I would consider a end of a generation is when the newer systems release.

360 lasted 8 years, PS3 about 7.  But I would say I'm surprised it lasted that long even with how short the PS2/Xbox gen was.

Support for 10 years is a given with console hardware, I just don't expect it to be the main gaming consoles for that long.  I'm expecting 5-6 years max this go around.

I'll be shocked if this generation even lasts that long, but I expect Destiny sequels to be released. Wouldn't be the best decision to release DLC expansions otherwise.
I think the old plan (without sequels) was to transfer the game to new generations if this generation didn't last 10 years. They already are connecting last gen and current gen by having the free digital upgrade. Even with the new games, I have a feeling that your characters will still be connected to each game. Whether you keep the same character, unlock bonuses for playing the previous games, or having to start completely fresh, I don't know.

Yeah, I don't know sequels are going to work with it being sort of an MMO. I'm sure you'll be able to either start a new character or continue your old ones with Destiny 2. But if it's all new areas, will the old ones still be accessible? If you want to visit Earth or the Moon, will it prompt you to quit Destiny 2 and put in Destiny 1?

Well if they're doing the MMO model you just make it like WoW and whatever else where you're simply blocked from accessing the content if you want to keep the playerbase going like an MMO. Then you can still sell full priced games every two years.

Same here. With all the flack MS got last year and even now for putting out an "underpowered" system compared to the PS4, I wouldn't be shocked to learn MS is planning a state of the art machine within 5-7 years, as you said. They've got some of the best engineers in the world and the kind of capital Sony could only dream of, no way do they let themselves get shown up next gen.

That would kinda piss me off. The way Nintendo releases consoles out of step with MS and Sony already irks me, if MS follows suit it will be chaos. I need defined console generations, not this half-assed WiiU bullshit.

As long as the next consoles are the same architecture so they play xbox one games then I'm fine with a short generation. I'm just sick of all the definitive editions and remakes of 360 games for the one. Just give the games to ppl that already bought them.

Got to play Forza 5 over the weekend and it's really a quality racing game, I'm not really a race game fan either. My favorite was Burnout Crash back in the days. No wonder why Forza is the king of racing games right now. I'll find out tomorrow if I'm still able to play or not. I wonder whats the next Gold weekend free game will be.

It makes some sense for Nintendo to do whatever i wants. They don't really compete with Microsoft or Sony. Their biggest competitor is their own stupidity. They're just there, for the most part. Sony and Microsoft will never have their systems release on such weird schedules. Sony saw what happened when they released their PS3 a year later. The 360 had a good foothold and it took a lot of effort for them to gain better market share. I'm sure both Microsoft and Sony will release their systems the same year next gen.

Should I skip child of light for $10?
I paid full price for it a while ago and loved it. If you have a big backlog, I would suggest waiting. It's one of those games you'll see at 75% off next year.

Despite being pretty new, it's been on sale multiple times between 360 and One. From the trial it's great art-wise, if you don't want to bury it in your backlog I say get it, otherwise it'll likely be on sale for the same price or less in the next few months.

In other news, this is the first time I buy an on demand game day one: for my day one needs I always went retail. Does anyone know the timing of the game appearing on the marketplace on the 360? Is it around the time sales pop up, or more like the time arcade games get on?

I'm trying to play Monaco for those 10 hours, but it is so painful. Damn.
I felt the same way. I played the first level and thought it seemed like a neat game. Then the next level it just became dull. Sneaking around isn't fun like it should be, and the whole design is based more around a cooperative focus, yet the game lacks any matchmaking.

I was going to ask if people wanted to team together to earn our dollars and play through this game, but I didn't think anyone would be interested.

Hasn't it only been on sale once per platform (including PS3/PS4/Vita)?
I certainly remember it once on 360 and One already, on separate occasions. That makes it at least 2 sales on MS platforms alone. For such a new game it's not bad, and probably leaves room for future sales.

Pretty certain this is the first Xbone sale for it since I would have bought it before this week. 360 it went on sale the first week of July but that appears to be the only time as well. I would expect it to be one of those Ubi games that's included every time one of their sales rolls around on PSN or XBL which seems like every other month.

That's what I meant with 360 and One once on separate occasions. A total of 2 sales (that I remember) on MS platforms. Being the game pretty new, it indeed seems one of those games that will see a sale frequently. I'd be surprised if we didn't see it for 5$ on both MS platforms in the next 12 months.

There is matchmaking in Monaco. When you're in the mission selection screen, just hit the start button to switch from playing Offline to Online/Live. A little radio antenna thing will pop up to the upper right of each mission to indicate if there is an open lobby. Join one, or create your own public session and wait for others to join. No radio antenna means that mission has already started; you can't join mid-session. I've played with randoms and it's a lot of fun when everyone works together. People complain about Xbox gamers, but I am always pleasantly surprised how much people really do try and help each other in games, especially when no one is even using a mic.

I am, at least i would try. Perhaps playing it co-op might make it bearable, it's $1 buck too! So feel free to add me: GracedRapier60.

For the impatient that want to mess with their 360 region, Destiny is up for download in the New Zealand region. Seems to confirm that all countries get at midnight for their own time, which means Europe gets it in 7-8 hours, while the USA can wait a bit more than that.

Their first step - schedule their E3 keynotes after Sony's. Still curious if the PS4 would've been $399 if the XB1 wasn't $499.

Since the NES, the Wii U is the first time has Nintendo has kicked off a new generation of console systems. They'd always been at least a year behind the first system of a new generation. Genesis / TG16 / SNES, Saturn / PS1 / N64, PS2 / GC (Xbox was same year), 360 / Wii (PS3 was same year). The Wii U came 6 years after the Wii, and 7 years after the 360 started the generation. That's a year or 2 longer than the gaps for most prior generations (based on first systems out).

And for chaos and weird scheduling, how about MS putting the 360 out just 4 years after the first Xbox? MS knew they weren't going to catch up to the PS2, so they decided to fire the first shot of a new gen. They appeared to want to get an MS branded box in as many living rooms as possible, going back to the mid/late 90s when they bought WebTV, and had a huge war chest of cash from Windows / Office to weather any losses. The thing that threw me this gen was if they still wanted to get a box in every living room, I was expecting a cheaper alternative to compete in the Roku / Apple TV / Chromecast domain. Something with just the media functionality and Kinect voice commands to set it apart (and maybe the camera for Skype). Maybe that wasn't their goal with WebTV / gaming systems after all.

If MS or Sony think they'll be able to get a leg up on the other by releasing early, they'll do it (again).

Im surprised Slenderman The Arrival  is only 10 bucks and not 20

thought they would be pricing that higher for whne it comes out this month

Does anyone know if the servers for COD2 are still populated? I'm a big fan of COD (atleast until MW2) and have never played this one on console (it's like 25€ used here) but I don't want to spend money if I can't play it online

It is $10 on Steam. They might have been able to release the game for $15 or $20 if Slenderman wasn't in the news lately for bad things. I think there was a house burned down because Slenderman told the kid to do it within the past week. Then there was worse stuff happening earlier this year that caused the game to be delayed.

Doing my best not to get Destiny until winter break when it will be cheaper and I'll have more time to play. Really enjoyed what I've played of Warframe so far. I'm hoping with that, Minecraft, Madden 15, free weekends, and GWG that I'll be able to stay busy long enough. Might even touch the backlog instead of playing all these games that don't have an ending.

I heard that you can get Destiny on the Hong Kong store and play it now, plus its cheaper on the HK store too

That sounds good, and from the video on the dashboard i can tell it does look good. Would buy it at 10, but i'll try to forget about and wait for a sale, you know, cuz backlog.

Not sure what the update does but yeah, I'm not able to play Forza 5 anymore. I kinda like these free weekend games added to our subscription.
I decided to do my own testing and sure enough, if I didn't take the update and remained offline, FM5 was playable. After I saw people saying they can't play anymore, I got the update and immediately no longer able to play FM5.

Good thing Destiny is out tomorrow :D

I would love more free weekend gold games!

Forza 5 was great, but several achievements failed to unlock on Sunday, including the one for reaching level 10. Like Spinal Tap, I went to 11. Still says 70% on the progress bar.

I can't come up with a better way to stimulate Slender sales...

A couple months ago, two early teen girls tried to stab their friend to death to impress slenderman and they were obsessed with the site. They're going away for attempted murder.
