  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance, but DLC cannot.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.  This requires being a paid subscriber or within a console-activated "1 month complimentary Gold trial" account.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.
  • All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every other Tuesday.
  • ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...
  • Always verify Xbox Live Marketplace prices before your purchase!
  • Spend wisely, have fun, and enjoy!

Well, bad news. I tested every SNK game on sale, these were bought with my original account today all on the same Xbox. When disconnected from live and signed in with the account I purchased the games with I get the "You do not have permissions to perform this operation" like it's viewing me as a guest account trying to play the game.

Now here is the kicker: When offline if I sign in using a different GUEST ACCOUNT, all games boot fine and play fine offline. So I guess good news is there is a work around to play them offline. Bad news, thats just an obscene way to make these games work.

If anyone else has encountered the same issue and has another work around for me to play these offline with my main account (the account that purchased them) offline I would greatly appreciate it. Also apparently this issue doesn't happen to everyone, but I found some other posts on the net about this issue.
If you're bored/desperate, you could try to redownload your profile, test them to see if that did the trick, then redownload the games after that. It shouldn't hurt anything at the very least?

I am sure some of you put me to shame but I just looked at my game excel sheet and I have spent over $1200 on digital content over the last 5 years. I know now why every game has a season pass these days.
I am currently close to 400 different X360 games between retail and digital (I don't sell my used games) - plus all the DLC. It's ridicolous how much I likely spent, even though many games were free or bought dirt cheap.

This past date night was worth staying the night. I was also getting desperate when the possibility of being stood up crossed my mind, but it all ended out better than I hoped. Arcade games from SNK, never before discounted DLC for the Skate series, Ubisoft sale for all, a couple of free DLC for Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, mistakenly free Shadowrun, free Battlefield: Bad Company 2 with most of its DLC discounted [congrats im_dany]. My only disappointment was not seeing Pier Solar HD on XBLA this Wednesday while it get released for everything else, even Ouya, before it appears on the 360.

Thanks to the posts on this thread, with more information, I can make a better decision on my purchases. I may opt from buying NCAA 14, in part due to missing content/possibilities [thanks kdiddy1989 & MillerTime2523]. I may be able to save if I wait for a clearance sale at retail outlets for Assassin's Creed: The Americas Collection [thanks Kromis for info], Battlefield Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition, and in Europe/Australia/Asia there is a Ubisoft Triple Pack which includes BG&E (is this region free for my US system?). I prefer to physically own my games, in case of a future without support for old systems. The information from this thread helps me save, and I am very appreciative of that fact. Another big thanks to shulamm, Bloomy, et al. for helping me decypher most of the Games with Gold offer on Xbox Rewards. Of note to Bloomy, I think the SNK sale lasts to the middle of the month due to KOF's 20th anniversary according to this.

I remember when COD:MW2 had that glitch where you could play some SNK games for free.
I remember that time too, it worked with the MW2 demo on the the first NXE dashboard (grey), but when they switched to the white NXE (with sharp hard corners, prior to the Metro styled dashboard) it no longer allowed the demos to function as unlocked games. Yet, I think the glitch may had adversely affected the chances of Last Blade 2 arriving to XBLA. A shame too since that is one of my most favorite SNK fighting games, which I think matches up pretty well with Samurai Spirits (Shodown) for setting and cool characters.

It is refreshing to see a positive response this time around for an SNK sale. I remember wanting an SNK sale a long time ago, and when these XBLA titles got their week, I was the only one elated but the rest of this thread's reaction was quite unhappy about it then. A few years later we get a repeat, and times changed. Sadly now SNK refuses to bring me the games I loved onto home consoles and instead got seduced by mobile to make crappy card and rhythm games. I'm always on the wrong side of of what everyone else wants, but hey Athena uses psycho power too ^^.

Those Sega fighters look rad.
Yeah, I leave it to Sega to do the right thing and bring them to me. What I think everyone is hyped about at the moment is Omega mode for Ultra Street Fighter 4, which will be free DLC coming (whaaat? Blanka electric teleport). Picking up my jaw from the floor to hear Dead or Alive 5 Last Round will have 2 more characters. Also I believe they are livestreaming the location test for Tekken 7 the last few days. I'm glad you share a similar interest looking into the future of cool games. Sega once published a Melty Blood game, now that E-Cole released Under Night In-Birth, perhaps a new version is due. I do miss Sega on the 360, it's been a while since they last had stuff on discount, but Alien: Isolation intrigues me hope it is a sign of more to come.

Congratulations to MS for a successful X1 launch in China (hehe, Wumart). I'm curious (but not spending curious) to try those Chinese bootleg games I keep seeing. I'd appreciate a wonderful surprise, much in the ways when I delved into Korean titles to learn of Hyung Tae Kim art in Tempest, the War of Genesis series (video is of 4 which is MMO, unlike prior SRPG titles when I found them), and Magna Carta which had a title on the 360. That curiosity led to my time I spent on RO (wouldn't want to again, but the time was great), so I hope Chinese developers can bring something to the table for the Xbox platforms.

Speaking of which, Cage017, I heard Killzone was stupid fun.

Looks like D4 is selling like crap right now.

Less than 10k people bought it worldwide.
I remember before the release of the X1 posting about my hype for Crimson Dragon and D4. To this day those two still stand as reasons compelling me to own the system along with the prospect of Natsuki Chronicle and Raiden V (I know, I am intrigued by the exclusives including the Forza, Ori, and Halo titles along with the unique indies from ID@Xbox as well, but for me they aren't reasons to justify an expensive purchase at this time) [EDIT: I do have a passing interest in Quantum Break, Scalebound, and Phantom Dust at this time]. Had D4 been released on the 360 (or other platform I currently own) I would have instantly supported Sweary65.

I didn't play Spy Fiction, but I did love Deadly Premonition. Having found it for $20 new at Best Buy, I took the gamble and promptly tossed it into my backlog. Once I read of the highly mixed opinions on the game, they moved me to find out for myself to see where I fell, and I ended on the side of the coin which legitimately enjoyed the strangeness. I still do not have nor played the director's cut of Deadly Premonition, later released on other platforms, nor do I have much desire (unless it is super cheap) to explore it because I am perfectly happy with the 360 version. That may be why Sweary65 continued with the Xbox platform, since he was essentially discovered on that platform (plus the money hat benefits towards development from Microsoft doesn't hurt).

Is anyone else getting to a point in their Xbox 360 lives when they can't quite think of any games they want that they don't already own?
Never! I can always spout off a whole bunch of DLC or XBLA titles which I would actually purchase if given a large discount. So many reasons to live this October with the Korra game and Costume Quest 2 coming to XBLA. I look forward to this coming date night.

However, in case of a bad date night, I have prepared a Mad Libs: "Another bad week without me buying anything. ____<sale title>____ does not interest me. ____<videogame genre>____ titles are the worst, I just hate them, but should I buy ____<another sale title>____ even when it is ____<adjectival noun>_____? I will hold onto my money until ____<nonexistent entity>____ shows up on the 360 with a(n) ____<adjective>____ sale. I will ____<verb>____ myself for the time being."

[EDIT: Missed bottom of last page by quite a bit typing, pondering solutions] [I'm trying Darby27, sent an embarrassing message to Baboy to try to be considerate towards others' page down/space buttons T_T]

lol, without even looking at the poster I knew Crono posted that!

The Xbox One voice commands kick ass.  I feel sorry for those that got one without a Kinect!

Shadows of Mordor is really fun. Feels like Assassin's Creed without the boring story parts. Nemesis system is more fun than I was expecting. I've been helping the cool looking dudes rank up. The first guy to kill me also is getting special treatment.

There was one guy I kept beating the crap out of and when he showed up the 3rd time, his face was all bandaged up. He quickly ran away when he saw me.

Guys do you actually need to download the games with gold game to play it for 10 hours to get the rewards credit or will playing the physical version work for that as well?

You need to download. It's called 'games with gold' for a reason. You could be playing a physical copy while being silver.

I thought I'd really enjoy having new voice commands on a responsive new platform, but the only thing I end up doing is telling It "Xbox, unsnap" whenever I clumsily try to view achievements which in-turn leaves me with a fifth of my screen becoming useless.

Despite my better intentions I have yet to record anything I've played that I thought might be worth re-watching, which frankly was my main motivation for getting a Kinect bundle. "Xbox, Record That" seemed like such a neat idea, in theory, but maybe that's just the game I'm playing currently (replaying Tomb Raider, and wandering around in Watch dogs like it's my job).

And to be absolutely honest, I still feel like an asshole at the thought of yelling at my xbox, knowing that there's a very good chance the neighbors to my apartment are within earshot and probably think I'm just being a tool for both yelling AND talking to my console like it's a sentient being.

C'est la vie.

This is mostly why I had no interest in it. I bought a kinectless xbone and dont feel like im missing out. honestly I was TOTALLY sold on the kinect before the system came out, when I saw this amazing video... but I dont know that it will ever come to be.

Eh... the double tap and then hit x to record is a nice substitute if you don't have a Kinect 2.0. I haven't plugged mine in almost two months.

I use the Kinect to navigate like 80% of the time on my One, I love using it and yeah you don't have to say anything loud at all. Recording, going to other apps, snapping stuff. It's great for me.

I don't even know what is wrong with Bad Company 2 I tried to play it last night with some friends and it says the servers are not available. After trying for like 20 min. it threw me into a game just to be disconnected  as soon as I joined. I downloaded the VIP pass and the latest update so I'm not even sure why it keeps doing this.

Woo we got a broken game!

Does the digital version of Bad Company 2 still have the huge in-game updates that you have to download before playing MP? That was my biggest annoyance playing it a few years ago.

Broken link it seems, but I searched for IllumiRoom and watched and IGN breakdown:

That is neat but I definitely don't see that actually being used with this gen, if ever. The IGN guys brought up some good points about how that would require an incredible amount of extra GPU, if not CPU too. Not to mention things like, if the game is natively only showing what's on the TV then in like competitive multiplayer, what would happen if one guy is being broadcast on someone else's walls/bookcase since he'd technically be offscreen? It's really interesting as a 'proof of concept' but I could see this kind of thing only really working for exhibits or presentations IMO.

I think ea probably didn't have enough servers going to support the influx of players.

And walking into my apartment and saying Xbox on to turn my Xbox and tv on is completely kickass!

I like when I'm watching porn and I hear the Kinect click on.

"xbox on" has never worked for me, have no idea why

Probably the same reason that when I tell it to record something it tell s me that the clip was recorded but then there's nothing there most of the time.

It never used to work for me, but about a month ago it started working too much. I have to unplug it during football because it beeps every time they say "on".

It's interesting to read yours guys opinions on kinect 2 cuz in debating if I want to get the Kinect one or kinectless one.

I am debating it as well, the 100 Euros difference is relevant to my interests. I do want the Kinect, I'm one of the defenders of the Kinect on X360, but it's also true I barely play it. I believe I haven't touched it in over a year. But it's fun, and if I find 3-4 games to enjoy on it (X360 had multiple great ones between Kinect Sports 1 and 2, Child Of Eden, Fruit Ninja, etc.) it was already worth the price. But I also know that I'm lazy... decisions, decisions.

I can't find My halo 4 war games map pass in my download history on xbox.com or my xbox 360. I got the LE way back when and i can't find it :C

any ideas?

You can look for it in the marketplace on the 360. Since you bought/downloaded it, it should be free for you to download. That's what I do to redownload stuff instead of searching DLH

That's definitely weird, I went to check mine to see if it shows and it does say already purchased.

You should have opened some weird porn in another tab before taking that screenshot. Missed opportunity!

A big difference between Kinect on 360 and Kinect on X1, is that you can use it in every game. I liked it on 360 as well, but rarely used it after Kinect Sports 2. I don't see a bright future for Kinect only games, but is actually useful in other games (unlike 360 Kinect). I don't think I've ever not used Kinect on X1 since getting it on launch day.

I finally got around to playing Assassin's Creed Liberation. These controls are awful. Running and climbing I can do, but actual combat? Forget it. I try to throw a punch and it rarely happens; all I do is dodge or get hit. Then when I try to block, the timing isn't right.

Is this because it's a port or do all Assassin's Creed games control like this?

I have not played Liberation, but in the other ones you pretty much just tap counter unless ranged enemies are around.

I just played the trial for it and didn't enjoy it. If you're curious about other Assassin Creed game, Assassins Creed 2 was free for Gold last year, so you may already have it. I recall not finding it amazing, but still enjoyable.

Liberation just doesn't interest me. It's also the strangest trial I've ever played. It just puts you into a mission with no context, and then ends once the mission is over. I figured it would start you at the beginning, working through 2-3 missions so you could feel what the game is like, but throwing me into a mission with no direction or information really is weird.

The only one I've played for any length of time was ACIV and it was amazing (XB1).

Hey Thank you for testing! Maybe it's just Fatal Fury Special then... I found a gamefaqs post that also mentioned metal slug 3, that listed a work around saying you needed to sign in with a profile that DIDN'T buy the game and it would play offline. (Weird, I know) I plan on buying these games later in the week, I'll give everyone an update then.
This has nothing to do with the games, it happened to me once. Try going to your system settings and looking for license update or something along those lines.

No, just games with bad trials. The game could be great, but the trial for this game turned me away from it because of how poor it is. A trial should introduce me to the game so that I understand it and can decide if this seems like a fun game. Putting me in a situation where I have no idea what is going on, with no explanation of how to do whatever it is I'm supposed to be doing, and then ending it abruptly with it asking me to buy the full version is just lame.

He asked about other games in the series, and since Assassins Creed 2 was free last year he may already own it to try that and see if that game interests him more.

Is this because it's a port or do all Assassin's Creed games control like this?
It's because it's a port from a handheld. As you mentioned, the free-running controls are absolute shit compared to the main games.

The only reason I bought it was because I'm an Assassin's Creed fan, and for that price, couldn't let it go.

I didn't have any problems with the controls in AC: Liberation, probably doesn't control as well as the other AC games though. This was the only AC I could ever be bothered to finish since it didn't waste my time with endless tutorial missions and padding to extend the length of the game.
