My PS3 says it's very easy to fill up 1 TB if you're a digital hoarder.

 
GAF just reminded me that all models of the Xbox 360 are still just USB 2.0.  So now I'm wondering if an improvement in load times is even noticeable when using an external, or if this update is really just about allowing more hard drive space.

It won't make any real difference between the two with USB 2.0. You could always buy your own 2TB 7200RPM 3.5" hard drive, like a WD Caviar Black and buy your own 3.5" enclosure to go with it, which doesn't take much work to do it. That way, the internal hard drive would have whatever warranty the drive has natively, such as 5 years on the Caviar Black.

You can't find a 7200RPM 2.5" drive bigger than 1TB. 2TB in 2.5", there's the Samsung Spinpoint M9 5400RPM drive.

Oh thank god they finally added external HD support. I've tired of swapping between 4 hard drives. I'm sure I'm around the 1TB mark as things stand. 

 
This month's games with gold freebies = hurting your back by turning around really fast trying to catch your own fart in your mouth.  They're just that bad.  I know it's dumb to complain about free games, but I'm not going to be led to believe that these are worth my time.

Second, I'll download then twice to make up for you. Mafia II is at the right price, yes, though they could have picked better, yes. The XB1 game didn't look that bad.
 
I'm actually more excited about Games With Gold now since the external hard drive update was announced. Games on Demand titles eat up space on a 500 gb like a mother so I will now look forward to downloading all the ones I "bought" but was never able to actually play. I already own Mafia II in physical form but I will put it on a hard drive as soon as I can get one.
 
I was going to dl Mafia on my 360 but it came up with a update message. For those who did an update last week and had problems, has it been fixed? For those that updated today are you experiencing any problems?

This is not true for the seagate 500gb usb powered that I am using for x1, however it may just

not be fully compatible or something. Have a lot of other hdds like wd passports, and toshibo

canvios, but they are all full with pc data.

Anyway when I use the seagate for the x1 it stays on even when the consoles off in either

energy saving mode, or the other mode with auto downloads off. Have no clue on other

hdds.

That's the new update enabling all the hard drive jazz. The update was fine, it didn't ruin my 360 and I was able to connect to Live no problem.

 
So many good games here. Thinking of re-buying Rage, Dead Island, and Max Payne 3 for PS3 this time.

Plus I can catch up on the Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect series (which I'll start eventually)

Regarding Dead Space 2: Is Extraction on disc or packaged as a digital code?

 
I'm tired of these Kickstarter campaigns.  Half the games don't even get made, half of the deserving stuff doesn't get funded because there's just too much now, and it's just becoming a giant tease.

Have anybody's myVIP points for April showed up as pending yet? It shows 0 for me but they usually show up by the 1st as pending until the deposit date.
 
I have a question I was using a 16gb usb stick that the xbox 360 stopped recognizing (dropped from the list of devices under storage) and lost what I had stored anyone else encounter this.  I am just worried that the same will happen with an external drive that I want to add games to.

42% of all projects started on Kickstarter fail to meet their goal, I think IndieGoGo is somewhere around 80% of that.

Pretty sure that 50% of fully funded games not getting made is pretty exaggerated. Haha.

Kickstarters aren't usually huge failures (take your money and run). Those are the ones you read about most because they are the most entertaining to read about.
 
The MyFighter reward would be good if any of those titles were put on sale during this. Which they won't be.

Of course I own 70% of all the games listed already..  :wall:

Yeah that game list is odd. Both in what is on the list and what has been omitted. Persona 4 Arena, but no Persona 4 Arena Ultimax? And all of them are taken off the GoD offer for MyVIP?

I don't dig these complicated reward structures. Just let me spend some money and give me some back. Sheesh.

Well if 42% fail to get funded and then a fair amount just disappear or don't get finished that do get funded I'm sure that's over half that don't wind up getting made.

 
Still incredibly sad that Microsoft really wasted their purchase of Rare. I wonder if these guys left before or after the MS purchase. Seriously, THIS is the kind of stuff we want from Rare.
 
I've been playing Kingdom of Alamur and enjoying it, but has me thinking more about Dragon's Dogma: DA. Would those who have played both say Dragon's Dogma is better or worse? I shouldn't be tempted to spend more money and the space is always an issue...but....

Why is it a bad thing that people are generally smart enough to ignore the vast majority of the dumb bullshit on Kickstarter? Not everything deserves to get funded when they're clearly putting up bullshit like this and the few bad eggs that do get funded help those people learn to be more discerning about who is working on it, whether the budget is realistic, and if that project seems poised for success or doomed to failure. There's a good Google Doc from NeoGAF highlighting the history of Kickstarter projects both above and below $75k and it's way more good than bad for those that get funded.

Even one of the most successful Kickstarters like Pillars of Eternity only had 73,000 backers, so the Kickstarter alone doesn't say anything except that there's a niche that can put up a decent chunk of change for games they're interested in.

I'm having a brain fart moment. When you download a game on the 360, do you have the option to pick which drive to download it to? I don't recall seeing the option. I need to queue up a lot of games and downloading them to my default HD will be a problem.

You can move your existing games to the external HDD or a thumb drive. Then you dont need to worry about filling up the default. I dont know if you can set a drive as default like in X1 though, since I havent played around with the external HDD on 360 yet.
