Of the three I played BL2 first and had a blast. I even picked up all the DLC. The new classes were fun and it had a great antagonist and fun story. Tried BL1 for a bit but after playing BL2 going back to the first one was tough. The pre sequel I got on PC and it was okay, playing as claptrap and the dual wielding gunslinger was fun, but BL2 just seemed to have more character. Plus all the aussie accents in the pre sequel threw me off.

In my case I would only get the Handsome Collection if it were really cheap, say 10 bucks. It might take at least a year but I'm fine with that. I'd only be interested in trying out BL2 with better graphics and maybe the pre sequel. But if you've never played BL2 before (or played it sparingly) then playing it on Xbox One with all the DLC is likely the best way to do it. Lots of content there.

If you only get one skip Spartan Assault and get Spartan Strike. They learned from pretty much every problem the first game had and it was a lot more enjoyable due to that. The first one has way too many design flaws to try and get you to microtransaction the problems away, and has some weird quirks from being a mobile game first. I don't know why it hasn't had a console port yet, but it deserves it more than the one we did get. Probably just low sales I guess, I've still barely seen any discussion about it to this day, with practically none at release.

As for the above question on Resident Evil. If you have none of them at all, REmake is where to start. It's the best classic style (and overall) game in the series. If you're going for horror I'd say REmake > RE 0 > Revelations games on high difficulty > Code Veronica out of what is on sale. I never found RE4 to be all that scary but some would disagree. The games I didn't list are too action heavy to really be scary, they just have some grotesque stuff at best. As for good mechanics that's kind of hard to quantify since most of the games have some differences in how they work if we're going by all the games on sale. 0 has the biggest departure out of the classic games because of character zapping and the inventory management changes.

I'd say 5 if by "good mechanics" you mean "not tank controls with fixed angles". I got the most mileage out of it's story with the different unlocks, difficulties, and weapon upgrading. Plus the Mercenaries mode stuff. It's Lost in Nightmares DLC is very good.

RE 6's gunplay is very good but is dragged down by a bloated mess of a game in virtually all other categories.

The Revelations games are both solid, but the Raid mode stuff is the star of the show after you beat them maybe 2 or 3 times.

Just from reading comments here and elsewhere, I think it's pretty hard for Microsoft to please people with GWG. If they pick a AAA game, because they're older games everyone has likely already bought and played them that wanted to. If they pick lesser known indie titles (even ones that are just being released), a lot of people are annoyed that they're not doing bigger budget titles. I do think they do a pretty good job of mixing up AAA/indie and various genres, honestly. It's nice to see a lot of people here that give MS their props even if the games aren't suitable to their tastes or they already own them, though.

I loved my female character in SO when it was free to play for a weekend. In third person games, I generally create female characters because I'd rather see a girl on my screen for 20-30 hours than a dude. I never really grew up. :p

Looks like they give you a curser you control with the thumbstick. Kind of silly with all the "screen tapping" you're talking about since they're spread out around the map and often time sensitive but who knows maybe they're not sticklers with the timing and also you can pause time using the down button. I played quite a bit of Plague Inc. both on my tablet and on my XB1 when it released, and I have to say that they implemented the controller very well. I never felt like I couldn't collect stuff as it popped up because of the controller. If any of you are interested, I'd recommend just getting it. It's got a great achievement list, a pretty good learning curve and it's different than anything else out there.

I love GWG, even tho many of the titles that have been released are games I already own. I buy a LOT of games so that is inevitable. I'll still take em as then I can just download the digital edition and can sell the used edition on eBay, at least if its a retail game that I own. I have already gotten like $200 from used GWG games. I am a realist and understand full well that GWG is simply to add value to Xbox Live and MS had to go this route to compete with PS+. Niether service is going to have brand new AAA games. You will normally get older retail games or newer indie games. Its would cost way too much money to do it any other way and I for one am perfecty ok with that. I would have Xbox Live even without GWG so every title I get is a just a bonus. The people that complain....well, let them complain. Its not going to change anything.

And there are PLENTY of people out there that do not own the games that get put up for GWG, even if they are older AAA games as there are constantly new people updating to XBox One. All you have to do is look at the number of consoles sold compared to the number of retail copies sold. There is always a significant difference.

Just echoing the "Play as a female" for Sunset Overdrive. Not only does the voice actress do a phenomenal job but also many of the outfit options you get are revealing so why not not only have fun with the goofy gameplay but do so with a scantily clad female avatar on top of that! : P

I loved playing Chaos Squad and seeing all the crazy ass outfits everyone was running around in. I had a male character with a Japanese schoolgirl outfit, a Fizzy helmet, and clown shoes.
 
Also....for anyone who ends up playing it, the absolute best weapon in the game is a fully upgraded Hair Spray Bomb. It is just ungodly and a sight to behold when you unleash it's power.

I did the female avatar thing for Saints Row 3 when that was GWG, I'd have to think a repeat in SR 4 will help keep us gentlemen entertained as well.

 
Not that anyone cares but I am celebrating my 1 year achievement streak today.  I should stop...most likely won't though.  It is funny to see the glut of people at 365 days on the True Achievement leader board though. It only makes me want to go one extra day.

I started with a male character in Saints Row III and switched to a female later on for that achievement. For Saints Row IV, I've started playing as a female because the voice acting is much funnier, especially hearing the president of the US talking with a Russian accent :D

I've never played the lego games (didn't play with legos as a kid)

I do enjoy having kid friendly games around but haven't ever got around to trying any of these

Are they worth getting into ? any in particular to get or avoid? skip them entirely and move on with my life?

They're very much worth it! I love all the Lego games I've played so far (Indy 1, Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter 1-4, HP 5-7, LotR, Marvel Superheroes).

The humour (and recent) voice acting just makes the games incredibly enjoyable to play.

I've played a fair amount of them. If you like beat 'em ups with pretty solid humor and some light puzzling and platforming, you'll like them. It's an added bonus that they drop in price pretty fast and are usually available for dirt cheap a few times per year via sales.

Overall, I'd same the gameplay is similar enough across the board that you can just go with whichever properties you're more a fan of. It does seem like of the superhero series, Lego Batman 2 and Lego Marvel are the most well-received. Lego Star Wars was good and I'm personally a fan of the Lego Movie game, too. Haven't played the Harry Potter or LOTR games, but I'm sure they're a safe purchase if you're a fan of those series.

It is awesome. And for those complaining about time trial only, you can select what medal you're going for and you really are racing against an AI "ghost" opponent -- not your own ghost. And holy hell, online is a a blast. Such a rush playing against 60 or more racers (Max is 100), even if they are ghosts.

Some pretty amazing player made tracks already too.

But even some of the tracks included are really wild. Love how it mixes in new elements like sections where your engine goes off and riding upside down on magnetized tracks.

There's also up to 4 split screen local multiplayer for actual head to head racing. How many games even have split screen at all any more?

Just tons of content and a joy to play.

Honestly think this deserves to be a sleeper hit like Rocket League.

This thread has single-handedly put Trackmania on my shopping list. I'm glad when a 'fun' game does well. It gives me hope in that these simpler experiences will keep being made.

Not that anyone cares but I am celebrating my 1 year achievement streak today. I should stop...most likely won't though. It is funny to see the glut of people at 365 days on the True Achievement leader board though. It only makes me want to go one extra day.

That's awesome man, I've only managed a 132 day streak. Btw you have your permissions set up on TA that no one can comment on your feed posts.

Thanks! I changed those permissions. To be honest I did not even know they were set that way. The list for site settings on TA is crazy long.

I'm in the same boat, just got an xbox one yesterday

I think we missed that deal. You can get riptor for a buck and if youve been hoarding one games with gold on the 360 you should have whatever version of KI was given with gold a while back (I think season 1 ultra)

Only carries over if your 360 save is on the cloud. If you still have a 360 with the save, just hop on there, go to your storage, and you can move it/copy it to the cloud and then play that save the next time you're on the 'Bone.
