All this talk of AAA and non-indy game discounts for the summer sale makes me sad. There is literally hundreds of XBLA 360 games that havent seen a sale in years. Maybe put some of those games on sale to boost the yearly overall sales by %10,000.

I was willing to conced that I interpreted your post wrong. Clearly, your argument is not about the download size. This is the sort of antagonism that I was talking about. Edit: Also, in regards to the fanboy thing that you have brought up. Microsoft has made a lot of stupid mistakes. I can nitpick so many issues I have with my Xbox One. Large trials are not one of huge flaws I would list.

Some side scrollers have been really fun like So Many Me and Guacamelee. Although to be honest every single one I've played has been a GwG.. so I guess I can't really fathom spending any money on them at all.

Yep fully expecting this sale to be a worse version of the PSN summer sale. So many discounts in the PSN sale for 60-90% which we simply hardly ever see. You'd think Sony was in 2nd place with how aggressive they are with sales.

just a thought...maybe your disc is readable enough for your xbox1 to confirm the license and download the BC version of the game?

the x1 should only have to read the part of the disc with the license data on it, which is likely not the part where the damage is.

I can't argue with free sidescrollers. Especially when there's not much else they can give out for free. If they're giving out a free game and it's not a retail game, it either has to be a sidescroller or strategy game because there's not much else available. XBLA had better variety in the first few years of the 360's life and I miss that.

I haven't tried So Many Me and I missed out on the Guacamelee deal. I'll get around to playing So Many Me eventually, I'll try anything, but a sidescroller won't be very high up on my backlog when I still have games like Metro: Last Light, Fallout: New Vegas and Quantum Break that I still need to start and invest my time into.

Does the 360 Download Slower When Turned Off/Rest Mode?

I've left the system running for a few hours, and it's gone into rest mode... now 8hrs later only 2 more games have downloaded.

Very true it seems the arcade games were so much better then. I don't know why they don't revive the franchise here. Also make all the old 360 arcade games BC and a lot of people will be very happy.

I thought So Many Me was a fun puzzle type game that required some thought. It's very silly/childish and fun to play with my younger sister. I understand with having so many real games to play that free/cheap sidescrollers take a backseat but at the very least I would get Guacamelee. It was actually a very good game. Watch a couple of Youtube videos if you need to see how it plays but I thought it was surprisingly good for a free game.

 
I've only played about 15 minutes of Inside and I already love it. One review I read called it "super Limbo" and that's what came to my mind as I was playing it. I loved Limbo, and Inside improves upon it in almost every possible way. Can't wait to play some more tonight.


While I'm on the subject, Monochroma is kind of fun, but while I was playing it all I could think was "poor man's limbo".

I know I wont enjoy banner saga 2 as its not my type of game but I think its a step in the right direction giving the nod to a game that I know is critically acclaimed and Im sure people will love as opposed to shit like deer god and zheros. still holding out hope for dr3

But I agree that it's really hard to complain about something that's free. I personally only object myself to Halo 5 because I have a friend who has it and I gameshare with him. But I know someone whose younger son is ecstatic about this. It's a pretty neat bonus feature from MS. One of the few things they've done lately that I CAN'T bitch about.

Updated my Xbox One with whatever the newest update is for the preview program and I really like the big change of how they display downloads, as it now offers more info on the downloads beyond a percentage that can be very vague for larger games. I don't know if that was originally there in the big Cortana update or not, but it was nice to see when trying to download Inside and cancel the game update mentioned below. Looking forward to playing Inside tomorrow.

Wasn't a fan of the way it was downloading a game update while prompting me to download the FW update first, as I couldn't tell it to stop the game update first without tricking it to let me go offline so I could do that myself. I'd prefer firmware updates be the sole focus of the system when it has one to download and not try to download multiple things at once so that the chance for corruption is minimized as much as possible.

 
I thought I heard somewhere that Mirror's Edge: Catalyst will be on sale soon for less than $40. Can anyone verify that? Is the game worth buying? I played the beta and enjoyed it, but it seems like the type of game that could get dry and repetitive quickly.

The problem is that if you want to play the trial, which isn't the whole game (I.e. not all game modes) you have to download the entire game which is over 80GB. It's not a problem for me since I already have the game, but if I didn't I would have to suffer through the download and I can see how that would turn someone off to casually trying it out.

If you use a disc to install, it will do so from the disc, right? So if someone really wants to get their Halo on for a full week, renting the game for one night from Redbox and then playing the trial for a week wouldn't be a bad move. Basically a couple of bucks for a one week rental. Not ideal, but neither is having slow Internet or in my case, a 350 gb cap.

Well it was just on sale at BBY for $40 before GCU a week or two ago so it's probably going to continue to have deep discounts as it did not review well.

For the game itself... that's complicated. The roughly 70 average score it had last I looked is exactly what I would give it. It has moments where it really clicks but it's obvious they were forced to cut significantly after delays. They shouldn't have forced it to be an open world game because nothing about that works. The closer off and scripted sections almost entirely work though and harken back to the first game. Really it could have, should have been better but it's clear they ran out of time.

So no, I wouldn't buy it for anywhere near $40 digitally and would probably say $20 tops. The quality isn't there and once you play the story and the dozen side missions there's nothing at all to do in that desolate open world except pick up the rest of the collectibles.

Have you seen how awful the past few years of discounts have been with XBox? It may not be much, but if it's more than the typical 33% off or so I'll goddamn take it.

 
I always buy everything I might even be remotely interested in at 80-90%, I am much more selective at 50-70%, which means I rarely ever get to buy digital stuff on xbox sales.

While Liara isn't one of my favorites, the shadow broker DLC had a good story that rounded out some of the plots from ME2, and there were some fan service moments that you uncovered when you explored the shadow broker's base. It was very satisfying to finish, and if you liked ME2 I think you'd be missing out not playing this DLC.

Maybe you could bring Jack or Miranda as your orher party member as I think they diss Liara in some dialogue.
 
Question for those with the newest preview update: Does the Xbox One show you installed DLC for games that you don't currently have installed? Please tell me they finally fixed that.

Afraid not but it did add the feature of breaking streaming to my pc! I promise I'm not salty lol. I did mention the dlc issue when they asked my thoughts on it though.

First they announced BC "coming soon", then they put the games on sale multiple times, then they announce a collection with no free upgrade for console users (even if digital).

The worst thing is that noone's complaining, yet everyone's ready to dislike the new COD trailer because "it sux guyse"

Not entirely, Saints Row 4 is on xbox one and BC so it could still happen. I want to wait for a price drop but I absolutely love the bioshock franchise so I will probably get this day 1

But seriously, the BioShock series made a lasting impression on me. I get completely engulfed in them (I played through Infinite three times - which is something I never do). The music, atmosphere, stories, characters. Not to mention the DLCs are as good as the base games. This will be day one for me.
