Was looking through the list again and didn't realize that Shadow of Mordor was the GoTY edition. So for $10, I've opted to go digital since I don't have any of the DLC.

That started me looking at what else I could go digital on and these were good enough to me with the trade-in values at Wal-Mart:

Shadow of Mordor GoTY ($10, $3.34 for vanilla at WM)
Sleeping Dogs Definitive Edition ($7.50, $6.01 WM trade-in)
Stick of Truth ($7.99, $5.46 at WM)

Combined with a few trades if games that I had physical but now have via GwG or EA Access and I'll only be out $1.15.

As someone who played through like 8 or so Lego games they're all pretty much the same game with only slight changes depending on the franchise. If you liked one I don't see how you wouldn't like the other at least until the point you get burned out on them and don't play them anymore.
 
Cool about Unravel going Access. I adored the game, the soundtrack was great too. Excited for those that get to play it for the first time. One of my favorites this year.

I have now joined you fine people in this console generation.  I have to say I'm enjoying the Xbox One so far, though I still occasionally fumble looking for things on the dashboard.  And I can now more fully participate in the discussion (and disappointment) in this thread.

I do have a question and a comment though.  

First the question:  I can use the Windows Store credit from Bing Rewards to purchase games from XBL, correct?

And the comment:  I'm a big Batman fan.  I love the New 52 series and a decent chunk of the classic stuff, I love the movies (animated or live action), and Arkham Asylum and Arkham City are two of my favorite games from last gen.  I just finished Arkham Knight last night and I can't give it any more than maybe a 6/10.  It'd be higher if not for the Batmobile nonsense.  I am eagerly awaiting the "indefinitely" delayed Return To Arkham though.

Also for folks who must play the major sports releases every fall, go ahead and buy them, just make sure to trade them in before EA announces their inclusion in EA access. You should be able to recover about 50% of the cost. If you can wait until BF it will end up being a free rental.

I do it from time to time to save on storage space - especially if the file size for a game is something like 50GB.

From my understanding, the discs are mostly useless as a majority of the data is installed to the HDD anyway. I could be wrong as I've migrated almost exclusively to digital due to game sharing.

Under $20 for a game with any replay value I rather buy it digitally. Over $20 for a game you play once for maybe 8 hours or so and never again I rather have it physical so I can trade it and get some credit for PSN or Live.

Disc installs and download installs are identical, the only difference is where the license comes from.

It's so rare it's that direction. Usually there's a big digital "tax" over buying physical. I wish all mine could be digital. Doom was $32 recently at BB physical, but it's only $42 digital on an "Ultimate" sale. Dumb.

From my time in this thread, seems like it depends on the person. Some people like the permanence of digital ownership and the convenience of not having to swap discs. For me, I prefer disc even if it's a little more expensive at first because I don't keep any of my games. I trade them in to get some of my money back so in the long run, it ends up cheaper or a complete wash (especially during Black Fridays). I don't ever re-play games no matter how good they are so permanent ownership for me is just lost/sunk money. I want the option to trade or sell my games.

Are you saying that hypothetically speaking Microsoft could remove my license to be able to play a game even though I have it in disc form? I always liked having stuff on disc because I always felt like eventually stuff won't be available to download digitally.

Not necessarily (in terms of time, not the license itself). I live in an area where DSL is one of two offerings (somewhat in the country, not too many people out here) with Time Warner having better speeds, but at ridiculous prices I simply cannot afford just yet. I end up taking my XBone to a friend's place in the city to download updates/digital games I've bought. It took me upwards of a week to download a piddly Rocket League update, as it had a frustrating tendency to stop the update every other hour. I bought Fallout 4 on disc for this reason (well, it was also $20, so there was that...), knowing that it's a single player game, and I could just decline the updates until I made my way to said friend's place.

It just depends on the ISP in your area, I suppose, which I'm sure isn't a huge problem for most current-gen gamers. Obviously it's impossible to play multiplayer without the required updates, but for people in my situation who just want to jump into a single player campaign fairly quickly, buying the physical copies can be a lifesaver.

That being said, I still prefer to buy digital when I can. Console sharing has been a great gift for similarly broke-ass gamers such as my friend and me.

One would think that MS would recognize how bullshit it is to have credit on your account, but not be able to fucking use it via the website or to purchase backwards compatible games on the ONE.  Stupid fucking system they have.

I was only speaking in terms of what content ends up on the hard drive, not how fast it takes to put it on the hard drive. :)

 
I've read posts here, and elsewhere, of people stating that Just Cause 3 is still plagued with issues and has actually become worse since launch. Does anyone have positive experiences with the game? I mean, is it a case where those who have cause to complain do, while those with no issues remain quiet, or are the issues universal?

It's because the 360 marketplace and the Xbox One store are different systems. When buying BC games on Xbox One you are still purchasing through the website.

Just look on Craigslist and find a cheap 4GB system for $20-30. That's probably the easiest solution.

I have my 360 set up, but I would like to put it away since now having a ONE, there is no point in even using the 360.

My gripe is that we as consumers have credit that we cannot use. This didn't used to be a problem until MS switched over to their new rewards system. Now it is one big clusterfuck.
