On game gifting: from how I understand how it works, when I gift something to someone, they receive a message with a code.  I assume this code doesn't expire?

Extending this line of thought, since Game Pass can be gifted and will be/is on sale for $1 for the first month, couldn't you gift two subscriptions to two different people, have them send you the codes, then when your own $1 first month expires, cancel the subscription, redeem one of the codes, get Game Pass for another month (effectively for $1), and then repeat for your third month?

And if there's no expiration date on the codes, you really don't even have to "renew" right after each subscription is canceled.  You can wait until there are new games added to Game Pass, say, 6 months later, and then redeem the other $1 codes.  Or am I missing something here...?

That would be great if it worked. I tried buying the GwG titles w/ the Buy As Gift button and it was going to charge the full price, instead of free. Will definitely give it a try when the $1 deal comes around. :)

Thanks for the heads up! 10 hours don't sound bad, easily doable. I've never done one of these challenge things though I've seen people talk about them here. I don't have to do anything special to activate challenges, right? I have Gold and I'm a rewards member so as long as I complete the requirements, they'll know?

You also have to have an active Game Pass membership or trial for it to count.

 
RIP Marvel Heroes. So much for that X patch. I had fun with it,but wasn't the greatest of games. Kinda surprised it always seemed semi-popular. But Disney said it wasn't enough apparently.

Also ReCore got It's X patch today

Sucks they’re shutting down Marvel Heroes, even though I only played the tutorial. On the bright side I get back hard drive space. Hopefully both MUA games will be $5 or $10 on BF or Xmas or Year End sales.

Saw Marvel Heroes was trending on Twitter and kinda suspected that this was the reason why. Didn't play it as much as I wanted to and this was probably the reason why. It's hard to invest in these freemium type games, because one day they will pull the plug and you will have nothing to really go back to.

I can't find anything on Twitter about ReCore getting a patch. I won't be redeeming my GamePass trial anytime soon (with the $1 month deal coming in a couple of days), but I've been looking forward to playing it for the first time 1X enhanced.

Was there an actual update for Recore? I thought I already had X assets downloaded.

I thought it was X1X = True
And the Assets showed as "Durango; Durango-only; X". I'll have to check when I get home.

Which brings up a question I had about 4k HDR enhanced games. If they are a fresh install to the X1X then assets only lists Scorpio. If, on the other hand, I did a transfer from my X1 vcr via external HD, then assets show as both Durango and Scorpio. If you do a fresh install does that save HD space because you only have the scorpio assets taking up space?

Wondering if the 14 day trial is long gone once I take the $1 month. And if the $1 month adds to the 14 days.

Not sure about the $1 month thing but the X1X trial doesn’t work for those that already had a 14-day trial. I chatted with a MS support person and said there was nothing on the flyer with the code saying new members only but the best they could do was to tell me to use another account on the same Xbox to use the code and it would work.

So I did that and also got a free extra month for turning on auto renewal (which I then promptly turned off).

Not sure about the first part, but to your second part, if a subscription is active, even if it's just the 14 day free trial, it won't let you buy the one month for $1. You can only subscribe at full price. The $1 is only for people who have no active Game Pass access at all.

Deadpool is still $12.50 and is being delisted tomorrow. I played the 360 version and flipped it around the time it went out of print. Part of me wants to get it digital for the sake of having it before it's delisted, but I also don't know how much I'd want to play it again.

I also have the $5 credit from MS feeling generous. Convince me.

The $5 freebie means it's really $7.50. But subscribing to your $5 or less threshold and your "if I bought a game for less than $5 previously then I've banked the difference to be spent later" theory, as long as you can pinpoint a previous purchase of $2.50 or less you're golden.
 
Man, at the rate all these Disney related games are dying I'd be scared to enter into a partnership with them if I was a developer. Didn't Marvel Heroes only get ported like 2 or 3 months ago, why waste the effort?

 
Aren't there some pretty pricey add-ons for the Marvel Heroes game? Are those people just fucked or do they ever issue refunds in this situation? Apologies if it was covered in the story about it but I haven't looked for a link yet.
 
Looking into the Marvel Heroes thing it doesn't say anything about how the shutdown is going to be handled yet, but that "the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down", I assume meaning the PC, PS4, and Xbox versions. It'd be pretty shitty if they don't give refunds, but I doubt there is any obligation to. If anything, I'd guess if you bought something within a certain time frame is all they'll give back.

It was released 5 months ago on console. My guesses at the reason for the shutdown.

3. Disney pulled a Disney. They've done it before and will do it again.

They don't seem to like having their licenses be used for too long, which is why MvC and Deadpool get delisted so quickly.

I just took the Deadpool plunge since I had some credit. Maybe it would've been better spent on the upcoming sale but the trailer sold me enough. Does it still run better offline?
 
Gears 4 eSports stream tonight will have the Nuclear Gnasher available. 

Nuclear Retro and Markza are available for playing 2 Escalation matches in public between today and next Wednesday.

Registration for the Flaming Snub is up.  Have to win 5 KOTH matches and 5 Guardian matches in the Gears 2 Classic playlist before the 21st.
