Some Destiny 2 beta thoughts:

I really think Bungie should have made the beta as expansive as the first one so you can really get a fell for how the game is different. Having no patrol zone is the big one, I really want to know how the stuff you do all the time is really changed, and see how the new hub area really connects to the overall game. No option to replay the story missions without deleting a character is stupid since you do unlock new gear. I know in the first beta myself and a lot of friends got a ton of mileage from exploring the patrol areas, but maybe they felt the fact that 1/4 of the game was explorable in the beta hurt them at launch with the main claims of lack of content.

I like the changes to the Sentinel Titan for the most part, but if that's the entire skill tree than some of the missing options are a disappointment, but the other buffs pretty much make up for it. Like Force Barrier applying to nearby friendlies. 

Aside from that, almost all of the changes seem to be focused on PvP, to the detriment of PvE. Shotguns, snipers, and fusion rifles being relegated to Heavy ammo is a big bummer. Even when the buff the amount of heavy ammo drops in PvE with the full game I think this is going to take away some of the fun. It's hard to comment on the extremely low ability cooldown right now. I think we're level to max be default, but it seems armor is still going to affect these recharge rates and there just isn't enough in the beta to get a fell for that. Both maps probably should have been in both playlists too. I can already tell I won't be playing the generator mode much, I generally don't like one life round gameplay in shooters.

All in all, I'm still not sure if I'm getting the game at launch. I like the changes I'm seeing but a lot of the things I don't like from D1 haven't been addressed either way yet, and I'm pretty much positive the shitty payment model is staying the same, if not getting even worse microtransactions.

Bethesda definitely should have waited a week for their free weekend, pretty big oversight there.

I like the changes I'm seeing but a lot of the things I don't like from D1 haven't been addressed either way yet, and I'm pretty much positive the shitty payment model is staying the same, if not getting even worse microtransactions.

Bethesda definitely should have waited a week for their free weekend, pretty big oversight there.

Totally agree. I really let the hype and hope get the better of me and pre-ordered digitally. I really shouldn't have. In all honesty nothing has really changed for the positive in my opinion it's literally all of the same. The beta is making me regret my decision bigly.

I don't like cod at all but that trailer has dead space vibes all over it and admittedly its got me thinking of getting cod ww2 instead now and skipping destiny 2 given how the beta feels so underwhelming and barely anything to do or explore like in d1 beta. Only cod I've ever played in the past was cod4 so maybe just maybe I'll buy this one for nazi zombies because it looks genuinely creepy like dead space did when it first came out.

Not sure if you saw my previous post on it, but the Exec Producer on DS1 is the lead at Sledgehammer Games. There is a reason you are getting DS vibes. :)

You can probably call customer service and cancel. I'd just say you tried the beta and didn't like it. If I do buy it I'll get a disc to save the 20%.

Usually my cheapass sticks with Redbox for my Blu-Ray rentals, but had a free Family Video rental text today and was pleasantly surprised to see that my local store now has 4K discs! Looks like I’ll be taking advantage of that 4K Blu-Ray drive in my S a little more often now.

Probably not a great movie to start with but got Kong Skull Island for tonight.

I've seen Injustice for $5 at a lot of pawn shops around here so the digital price seems steep. Especially since that isn't the full version.

This. I paid $15 on Black Friday and don't regret it for a second.

It helps it was the Walmart exclusive edition with the controller skin and the pre-order DLC though.

 
Doom is my game of the generation so far. It's crazy people are going to be getting it for $15, that's awesome.

Nice. As I've gotten older, I've grown to hate large venues. I pretty much turn off to artists once they hit too big to come to clubs... I really want to see The Struts before they get huge... Of course, they're opening for Foo on this tour, so I may have missed my shot already.

Great, just another reason why it won’t go under $20 (digital) like it should have 3 months ago. As far as the Destiny 2 beta, I agree with the catering towards the PvP crowd but I feel like I would still get at least 3 months enjoyment out of the actual game which I can not say about a lot of games and I despise 1st person shooters nowadays.
 
Got back from Dunkirk. It was great. I'm a huge fan of Hans Zimmer's work and this one did not let me down. He knows how to score Nolan's movies fantastically.

I also got a gear vr today. It's fun to mess around with so far. If anyone has any suggestions that'd be awesome. Only got keep talking so far and might get the eve game. It's been pretty gross weather in Massachusetts, only around 90 but the humidity has been awful so the lenses have been fogging up on me.

It's a maaaazing that they actually nailed the frantic feel of the original with the modern take. Yeah $15 is a steal. Now if they could only work on those loading screens (prays Xbox One X improves on that).

See yeah how the hell is Valerian going to survive with Dunkirk out at the same time. I know everyone is going to see this movie, it's freakin' Nolan we're talking about here.

I have been messing around with my Google Daydream View with my Goggle PIxel, perfect combo, and there's a lot of fun cool things you can explore with VR. I still can't use it for long periods of time but my queeziness has gone down over time. I might be adjusting to the new visual experience. I've recently played Eclipse: Edge of Light and it's a fun Myst like explora/advent/puzzle game. The controls were a bit something to get used to but once you do it's quite an exceptional little VR game. It's a Daydream exclusive though.

Read some good reviews so I decided to give Relax VR a try. Very cool, you can practice meditation with the app or just sit there and look out on many different vistas like the 12 Apostles in Australia or Auroras and starry skies in the USA. FYI, I'm not a big meditation guy nor do I do Yoga, lol, but VR has some cool tricks up its sleeve.

I love my Daydream View but it's just so low quality when it comes to how many pixels are on the screen. I suppose that's the limitations of using a phone to simulate a virtual experience. Good thing your brain is usually tricked and normally doesn't notice this until you have to stare at a certain spot or navigate with some sort of UI.

Yeah, the low quality of the phone vr is a little disappointing. I like the videos of different places around the world but it's a little rough when it's SD. Samsung has a few "are you afraid of heights" games. They're mostly boring and short but one of them I really like because it's at Carrick a rede in Northern Ireland and it shoots you up a few hundred feet in the air and you can see all around and down the Antrim coast a bit which is one of my favorite places. It only lasts like 90 seconds though.

This actually might go back to my backlog if they can fix that shitty Prism requirement.

Literally getting near the end of the game and it's like TROLLOLOLOLOL! You need more fucking Prisms to open this gate.

WHAT. THE. fuck.

I've never raged so hard and quit a game after spending many hours getting to that part.

So if they can balance that and add in some 4k sexyness I'll be back in.

Also it better be free.

 
Thank god for game trials, just tried Doom and it's def not really for me. I get that it needs to be fast paced, but it's too fast paced for it to be really enjoyable for me, and since I don't care about playing the mp part at all $15 isn't a deal. If it was ten or under, yeah I'd bite just to have it. Fifteen though, not worth it for me.
