Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

*pushes up nerd glasses* Kotaku had an article a few weeks back about the development of Mass Effect Andromeda that's totally worth getting into if you want to discover why the game turned out the way it did. Basically there were too many big ideas that kept changing along with alot of the workers being moved around to either finish Dragon Age Inquisition or Anthem. This basically led them to have to make the game that we now have in 18 months and scale back a bunch of the ideas they had plan and release a product that needed more time.

Unless they make a move moving into Vr or augmented, it's hard to justify a 1X. Right now there is only a more powerful machine but nothing exclusive. True 4k is nice but is only as good as the games are made. I've been struggling to justfy getting one.
I would get one if it came with VR. Loving Gear VR I got a few months ago. Would be even better with Xbox games.

The biggest issue that was in the article was definitely the engine change leading to the trashing of like 2 years of assets.

EA had nothing to do with the creation of Mass Effect. They didn't own Bioware until after the first game released.
Right you are, I'm surprised that slipped my mind, given that I didn't even play ME1 until it came out on PS3, after beating 2-3. It was like a prequel to the games I'd already enjoyed.

Forza Horizon 3 weekend Challenges are up. All fast and easy this time. Nothing tricky. Two free cars to be won.
I was wondering where you were with the updates. Didn't see your post this morning and wondered if maybe they didn't do a Forzathon this weekend. I already had the Jag (might have bought it not sure). But didn't have the Viper. I accidentally did an online race (instead of a playground game). The other guy had the Viper reward for this weekend already and I happened to pick a slower Viper. He wiped out early and never caught up. Was weird beating him in a slower Viper. I am not that great at this game but play almost all the Forzathons.

I believe both cars are repeats?

Forza Horizon 3 Forzathon cars are either repeats or I got them from wheelspins, as I had them already as well.

How do people in the Auction House sell cars for more than the price cap? I wanted to sell a duplicate Porsche I have, but only lets me place a max price of $65,000 for it, but the minimum anyone is selling it for on auction is $20 million?!?!?

You need to be a legendary painter or tuner.

The total number of downloads, likes and uses for each painter level are:
Amateur - 500
Semi-Pro - 2,500
Pro - 5,000
Elite - 10,000
Legend - 50,000

Well that's stupid about selling caps on Forza Horizon 3. Should at least have something in-between based on your Forza Level. Guess I'll keep my low value rare car duplicates then. Not worth selling at the capped value just to have someone flip it for millions in profit.

If there was a way to gift or trade cars, I'd give them away to friends instead.

^ FUck, I wanted to know that too because I could never get any real dough from the Porsches I sold either!

As for the ME:A talk, aside from what's already been discussed it's also No Man Sky's fault. ME:A was originally envisioned as a many planets to explore procedurally generated kind of game and then they saw what happened with No Man's Sky and went huh shit we need a rewrite. ALso yeah switching engines was their crux, as it introduced a whole ton of headaches.

If you're not playing Andromeda without Profiles, you're doing combat wrong! The Pathfinder is one of the most versatile "space marines" out there. In my first playthrough I've gone all Combat and Tech, with nothing in Biotics but with my 2nd playthrough I'm planning on being a Biotic GOd!

I went the opposite way. On my first playthrough, I was a biotic god. I thought things and they happened. I was even able to smell my greatness.

For my second go around, on insanity, I went with tech and combat. Cloaking + Singularity + Incinerate was my main loadout changing to Cloaking + Energy drain + Overload when came across Remnant.

I need PUBG to go up for preorder already...
Just got a new computer through Amazon Prime Days just to finally play this, and yeah this game is legit, it's not without it's flaws but man it can get intense. Highest I've placed is 10th and on that one killed my dumb ass jumping off a motorcycle.

Oh I forgot, the other factor in with everything was that Mass Effect: Andromeda came out on a somewhat busy time of the year when Breath of the Wild and Horizon came out as well. Both big open-world games and both top of their class so a few journalists admitted they were a little burned out on the open-world games/ had seen some good shit in another game.

For those with the XBox Elite controller what do you do for batteries?  I have a pair of Nyko rechargable batteries and just requested a replacement battery door that works with the Elite.

I also have 2 AA Eneloops 2100 mAh batteries.  Not sure if I would be better off with the Nyko or the Eneloops?  A bit of a PIA removing the AA batteries and putting them in a charger.  I only have an older charger which I assume will work fine but haven't tried it yet.

Andromeda's sci-fi setting and combat would have been enough to set it apart from the others if the game was good enough. The people complaining about open world have done so for months since its been the trend for at least a year, I don't think the stuff at the start of the year burned people out that badly. Mass Effect was out a few weeks ahead of them anyways.

I've really enjoyed Ghost Recon: Wildlands... But now I'm 20+ hours in and it's becoming a bit of a grind... That's a lot of provinces to do the same shit over and over again to liberate...

That's the problem with the game. It's very good, but they made the game way longer than it probably should be and after doing the same things over and over it eventually loses its appeal.

I use the MS play and charge for mine so I'm not adding wear and tear to the metal components of my most expensive controller by swapping batteries all the time.

I can never finish Assassin's Creed games due to the insane amount of collectibles. I did get the plat on Ghost Recon. I think the difference for me is I played much of the game with at least one co-op partner. If I had to play the whole thing by myself I never would have bothered. Finished the main story of Fallen Ghosts last night. Still two trophies (all side missions) and the one for knifing 10 specific enemies. My friend is going to pick up Narco Road DLC and we will go through that. Probably do the knife trophy tomorrow.

I was actually more concerned with breaking the battery door itself. Will go with the Nyko battery pack for now. Might pick up a play and charge for this controller though (have 3 controllers now).

I use my AA eneloops, but I do seem to only get about 24 hours out of them now, and maybe I'm not understanding fully but you didn't get that badass 15ft braided usb wire with yours? One of my favorite things about the Elite, use that sucker on everything around the house.

I will have to look again. I didn't notice it but honestly I only put in the batteries turned it on. Haven't played with it yet. I don't want to use a wire though to play. Sure it might be faster or whatever just don't want the wire running from my xbox to my chair. I can see someone tripping over it.

Enerloops or you're doing it wrong.  Why waste money on a battery pack that only works on one thing?

I did P&C for a while on X360, went to Enerloops and never looked back.  Much better battery life.

Best way to deal with Enerloops is to get yourself a smart battery charger, like a LaCross or Powerex/Maha.  Works to deep discharge batteries when they need it and help with charging issues.

I just swap out Eneloops. I have 4 pair so I never have to get up to pull anything off a charger mid-game. They work fine but the Elite does seem to eat through them faster vs my vanilla controller.

The vibration motor seems stronger in the Elite, which makes me think is part of why the go through them quicker. Even if they go through them faster than a stock controller, having more charged on-hand fixes that issue.

Microsoft Play n charge kit. Purchased two of those puppies when they were on sale for like $12 about 3 years ago. Been going strong since.

So my -redacted- from -redacted- came in the mail today.

It's pretty cool, been messing around with it. Definitely the best -redacted- I've ever gotten my hands on.

Speaking of -redacted-, my sister is apparently having a hell of a time getting her $5 book credit from -redacted-.

Supposedly, their CS grilled the shit out of her, first asking her to pick out her second book because the promo on the blog mentioned "next read". Then she linked them to the -redacted- Store tweet where they said $5 GC specifically and they said some bullshit about her purchase being on July 1st (it was definitely before midnight Eastern on the 30th, both the timestamp of the purchase confirmation email and even the purchase in -redacted-'s OWN PURCHASE HISTORY says June 30th). They asked for a screenshot of her purchase history, and after receiving it, they said they'd get back to her within 24 - 48 hours.

It's fucking $5, what kind of asshole doesn't just say "Yeah, it does say it was June 30th in your region and you did buy a book, so we're satisfied. Here's your $5, enjoy!"? Probably the worst -redacted- -related CS experience I've heard of in recent memory.

I've been using Energizer Recharge batteries for everything over the last 7 years and have had only 10% wear out on me. I used to have the MS battery packs for the 360, but after 3 years they wouldn't hold a charge for more than a few hours.

Having kids makes rechargeable batteries a must. So much baby stuff runs on batteries, from night lights to sound machines to the same kind of noisy toys I had as a kid. Now that they're aren't babies anymore, that leaves me a surplus of charged batteries, and I'm grateful every time I see the cost of a pack of AAs at the store.

Yeah eneloops are the gold standard for batterys for me the last 8+ years or however long they been around.

Thanks for the likes on my Rocket League goal. That game is becoming the new Gears for me though as my partner and I have been flirting with Gold in ranked for weeks, only to lose x amount of games in a row to drop a bit again. Can't even begin to comprehend there's Platinum, Diamond, Champion then Grand Champion levels.

I really like the game but I guess it helps having been in the military. That being said, I have played the game twice now collecting and doing everything. Had my guy up to Lv 30 but lost it all and was bumped to Lv 2 via a messed up save. So deleted the save and did it all over again. Then did it a third time with my buddy. Finishing Fallen and will do the terrible Narco later. Right now I'm working on the Tier stuff. Down to level 20 and my buddy might be 15 now. Maxed out my AUG to weapon lv 30 and will upgrade my sniper soon. Sitting on about 80K in each supply so that should be able to max it out or at least get it close.

No ragrets on any of the Nyko battery packs I have bought. Bought a pair for my 360 controllers many years ago (they were white). Last year I threw a charge on them and they still worked (at least enough to check something on a friends 360). My Nyko batteries never come out of my XBox One controllers and in 16 months I have had them so far so good. Now I have 3 controllers though.

Nyko got back to me in like 1 min after requesting the new battery door and will send it right out.

Once the door arrives I will probably use that in my Elite controller for now. Either pick up another single battery (if they even sell it that way) or MS play and charge.

I have 8 of the Eneloops. Bought them for landscape/solar lights. Thought maybe the batteries were going half the lights are shot and bought new ones.

I will also probably pick up one of the better chargers like you mentioned though and use the Eneloops for other stuff.

Lol the mental breakdown in the Target cartwheel thread
The one about returning a base copy for Gold? Seems like return fraud but to each their own.

The only time Cartwheel makes sense to me is when Groupon does buy $10 for $5 and/or when they convert the Gold version to the same UPC/DPCI. I picked up Ghost Recon Wildlands Gold that way. Most of the time even 50% off the games are too expensive. I did buy another game recently there with Cartwheel but prior to that it might have been like a year.

I recently missed out on a great deal for a 55" ks8000 TV, so i stopped at my local Audio/video specialty store yesterday. The thirst is real now. They showed me what was in my price range but I couldn't help ask about what they have in OLED. I'm fairly familiar with the tech. They have the newest LG C7 55" for $1800 with no interest payments for 36 months. Their 5-year extended warranty is $130. It's within my budget but I've been building my credit back up the last 7 years. I only have a $500 CC and student loan I pay $65/month.

Is this a deal I should jump on? This is a store with a great reputation and they sold me my current tv by matching best buy's open box price plus best buy's coupon. And mine was a new set. I have a lot of respect for their sales reps because they are very knowledgable and willing to negotiate reasonably.

I currently have a 2-year-old 55" samsung 1080p that I am super happy with and know inside and out, but I have Gamestop (don't report me) credit set aside to fully fund an Xbox one X. is this the deal that i should take to introduce me to 4k?

Games become more consistent once you hit Platinum, I have found out. You get less BS goals scored against you. I'm trying to work my way up into Diamond this season in 2s with random teammates, currently Platinum 2.

You have a pretty nice 55" 1080p already.

Only you can say if it makes financial sense to replace a 2 year old TV with your economic situation. Will you be able to use the old TV somewhere else or if not resell it for a few bucks?

Although it is only $50 or so a month.

I went back and forth on buying a new 55" or 60" TV for a while now. I have a 50" Plasma in the living room. 50" 2+ year old LED in the bedroom and a 32" old LCD in the basement I game on. Last week I won a 39" Vizio at work. So replaced the 32" in the basement which is currently disconnected. Probably go in the guest bedroom with a Chromecast connected to it.

I had to buy a new stand. New stand supports upto 55" TV so maybe someday I will pick up a 55" 4K HDR set for the basement.

Anyway good luck in whatever you decide.

That price has just recently been available through Beach Camera(aka Buy Dig) as well as the 65" C7 for $2500. I don't see any reason to rush if you are feeling pressured, this pricing seems likely to be available again. OLED is pretty amazing though, I was going to buy one last year but I decided to hold off just a little bit longer.

Grab your popcorn gentlemen..and Sporkz. Strong accusation in the trade forum and it's not the "Price firm, no bargain, can't be bothered to reply" guy

it was a $729 manufacturer refurb through groupon. i was fine with a refurb since it would likely have been a fixed panel separation issue, which i would want addressed by samsung anyway.
