To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Finished Andromeda tonight. The amount of sidequests is overwhelming, but it's a great game.

I said it before, but the plot should have been carried a long a tad more before you're given the ability to roam for 20 hours doing sidequests, but it also makes sense in terms of wanting to emphasize exploration. Obviously I could have went through the story quickly, but there was too much to do.

I really do like the way they connected it to the original games through the father's sidequest and memory locks. The origins of the Initiative have everything to do with the Reapers, but it's still it's own thing.

The unanswered plot points (who are the Jardaan, are any of them still alive? Who's the benefactor?) are intriguing and the setup is there for a very interesting sequel, I really hope we get one. Much like the original ME, this game does some world building, has some missteps, but is ultimately worth playing IMHO.

Now to try and talk myself into an Insanity speedrun.

I'm also not getting any points for bing searches on PC or Mobile.

Speaking of Burnout, according to TA, EA just announced that the servers for Revenge and CRASH! (an arcade spin-off) will be taken down as of Oct 24th.

Likely means neither are coming to BC so time to get your fix now.

I just bought Crash for the nostalgia, although I find that it's not really anything like the other games. It's decent fun (not great) in its own right. It's never been on sale (just had a price drop to $5) so I'm thinking unlikely it'll go on sale before the servers go down. The online achievements for Crash can be done solo by logging in and out of a second silver account.

I had a problem a few days ago with ms rewards, did the daily 10 point things and quizzes they give you and then the points disappeared but came back a few hours later but the next day I got 70 points from doing a couple quizzes and the 10 point thing then it showed up but I refreshed and they were gone and never came back.

Found this gem while looking for something else. I was one of the few who went all in with On Live, and I think I may have actually started an Onlive deals thread lol

Use some of those points to buy yourself some punctuation. Jesus Christ.

Black widow VII-X Is your best friend although I used that and the Crusader X and the Valkrie X.To be honest there were no hard parts just stupid deaths on my reckless part.

My level 54 Ryder actually has a Black Widow VI currently equipped, I've been using sniper rifles the whole game. The Ghost 5 assault rifles are also a favorite, with the right mods and augmentations it's pretty great.

So I didn't encounter many glitches in Andromeda, but this one was worth DVRing and turning into this.

I also died right as I defeated a story boss, and the entire cutscene that followed was through the grey and red you're-dead screen. When I ended up back on the Tempest, I spoke to Tann over video and then promptly dropped dead.

I reloaded the last save. Watched the video call again. Ryder was floating in complete darkness for about 30 seconds, then the Tempest materialized and she had a sliver of health.

Game Pass is adding the following 7 games in August:

Dead Rising 3
Dirt Rally
LIMBO
Metal Slug XX
Pharaonic
So Many Me
Ultratron

see ya in 1.5 years then haha. didnt it just hit $20 for the first time this march right before the necromancer dropped?  No way its going that low with the necro bundled in for a while. #blizzardsales

That just crushed me a little more than it probably should. Burnout and the Ninja Gaiden (Black and 2, not 3. never 3.) games are what is keeping my 360 around.

My level 54 Ryder actually has a Black Widow VI currently equipped, I've been using sniper rifles the whole game. The Ghost 5 assault rifles are also a favorite, with the right mods and augmentations it's pretty great.
Making the jump from normal to insanity is no walk in the park and expect a lot deaths due to the kett hitting very hard and accurate. But you can do it also it's very satisfying taking down all 4 architects on insanity just because

Casey Hudson's return to Bioware could lead to a change in direction and the creation of some single player DLC, but if the rumor of the studio being split off on to other projects is true, it might not be possible. Maybe if they outsource the DLC like they have in the past, but the team that made Andromeda was that outsource studio in the past.

I doubt you'll see Diablo get down to $20 for a while since that DLC just came out. You're probably better off finding a disc version Reaper of Souls for cheap and maybe hoping for a sale on the DLC in 6 months.

Something tells me that SP DLC might not sell well for Andromeda, unless it reviewed really, really well. If the achievement trackers are accurate, only ~25% of people who played it bothered to finish the story. I personally feel like the criticisms of the game are greatly overstated in terms of story/content/etc. but EA sure took that criticism to heart.

On my first playthrough, I missed one of the Architects because I thought there wasn't one in Kadara. But on my insanity playthrough, I took down that bitch in record time. It was the less "difficult" one. And yes, going from normal to insanity is not that easy.....at first.

But by the time I was level 60+, it got easier and easier. My Ryder made it all the way to level 81 or 82 and barely got scratched during the final boss fight.

Awesome! I actually forgot it was BC day. Played it on PS3 - had a good time with it.
YES, finally. I passed on it all the times it was $5 because I felt it was never going to hit BC. Last time the game went on sale, it was $4 I think and decided to bite. Good things do happen to those who wait.

EDIT: The DLC costumes for the game are free.

Oh yeah, it'd sell like hot garbage. It would be more of a way to earn back some kind of goodwill back, or sweeten "GOTY" sales down the road like the great deal the $16 Inquisition we often see is.

As for the criticism's I think most of them are deserved. Bioware used to be the king of RPGs for a long time, and aside from the ME3 ending Mass Effect has always been extremely well regarded. Because of this, a lot of people hold them to a higher standard than other devs or series, and their fuck-ups are basically amplified. Even without their history it's another case of a game being shit out before it's ready for the hardcore fans to be burned by at full price while the game is slowly patched up to acceptable standards.

Game design criticisms are more subjective, and a lot of that seems to be focused on the writing and characters, which can always be a factor in peoples enjoyment. ME3 definitely had subsets of the fanbase that didn't like the writing even before the ending happened, but it was able to fall back on characters people had grown to love in the previous two games, while Andromeda was starting at square one.

Hopefully more of those old Tomb Raider games come too. I only have Anniversary but I've wanted to check out more of the old stuff after liking the reboots so much.

That final fight I died a couple of times in my initial hardcore run because it was a bit confusing but when I did it on insanity zero deaths and I used my shotgun all the way.

If you're starting backwards, you are in for a rude awakening. Legend and Anniversary show their age immediately when you start playing, especially after the reboot.

Here's the twit:

FYI I believe the 360 still has exclusive DLC. That's right. Not even the PC master race got their hands on the DLC AFAIK.

I didn't care for the game because I didn't care much for the old Tomb Raider games. But I still have Anniversary so I'm waiting for that one.

DLC was 360 exclusive so this is good for exclusive preservation

After an agreement with Microsoft, Eidos released two new chapters of Tomb Raider: Underworld as exclusive downloadable content on the Xbox Live Marketplace:[40] Beneath the Ashes on 24 February 2009[41][42] and Lara's Shadow on 10 March 2009.[43] According to an MTV Multiplayer blog post, an Eidos spokesperson has stated that there are no plans to release the content for PlayStation 3 or Microsoft Windows.[44] Following a negative reaction from fans, Eidos released a statement explaining that they were approached by Microsoft, and to confirm "there are no plans for additional downloadable content for PS3".[45]

I Played Raiden V a few nights ago and can't tell if I'm just getting old, but my eyes felt ready to explode from the stupidly fast background mixed with all the yellow chips mixed with all the bullets and lasers flying everywhere,

They're different, but the dev is the same and it's nice to see where the series came from. I know they're more puzzle focused and Anniversary basically has tank controls. Being old doesn't mean bad.

Anniversary should have some control scheme as Legend since it runs on the same engine plus it was an add on for Legend as well. The problem is more the shooting and boss aspects are super dated. I Hope this doesn't happen to you, but Legend when I last played it had a boss battle where you had to shoot a bell to get it's attention so you can attack it. Problem is the bell only works sometimes so you're basically shooting and praying it works and hoping you don't die.

Those Steam reviews are a joke. Most of them have played for less than 20 minutes and are just using the review section as a platform to air out their greiveances with the dev. I don't know if it's good or bad, either way I don't plan on playing it, but this is another example of why I think user reviews should be banned e everywhere.
Update, I've now played 1 game of this and I feel the reaction is justified. The game seems to be running locked somewhere around a buttery smooth 15-20 FPS. The mode was a standard KOTH mode but with zombies all over the map. CoD controls exactly, near instant death from players, zombies are practically zero threat. With such GARBAGE performance and the fact that this is a paid game out in 4 weeks, I'd say avoid at all costs. Seems like it's designed as a quick cash grab.

It reminds me of the Umbrella Corps shitshow that came out on PS4 and PC last year.
