Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

Another excellent good week is upon us...

Both the Ronaldo and Icon edition covers look so good!

I'm guessing you got one of the Pasta Passes? I got one last year and ate there almost every day until it was over.
Yep. I had it last year too and I ate there 42 times over the 7 weeks.

Pasta pass + movie pass is going kick ass this fall!

I'm not crazy about Olive Garden, or any chain other than Chili's, but I still wish I could have gotten a pasta pass for me and my Fiance. Together with the Moviepass it would make for a ton of super cheap dates.

I'm really loving Moviepass so far. I never stay awake during movies at home, but don't have any trouble at the theaters, plus two of my other good buddies got it as well, so we've been going late night when our families are in bed, which is great because the theater is always empty.

Yeah, I've used it I think 4 times now, and only once was there someone else in the theater.

I'm pretty sure you're right. I was just hopeful because when the first sold the Hoonigan pack for FH3, they said it would also make those care available in F7. I was hoping it worked both ways. Like, one key sold as two separate things.
Actually, if you preorder FM7 digitally you get the pack for both FH3 and FM7, as in a code for each. They are separate items and purchases like the F&F pack in FH2 and FM6. If you buy it for one game, you still have to buy it in the other one, too.

^ Yeah I pre-ordered FM 7 from Amazon because I got in on the E3 price glitch but that promo is only with pre-ordering from Xbox's store. Doh. Oh well, I think I'll try for them in the rewards virtual key sweepstakes.

Date night countdowns :
  • Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Ultimate Edition
  • Mass Effect: Andromeda & Deluxe Edition
  • Need for Speed Deluxe Edition & Bundle
  • Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2: Deluxe Edition
  • Titanfall 2 Ultimate

FM7 and Cuphead for me this week, and, if I'm lucky, an SNES Classic. Already have FM7 Ultimate bought, waiting for the pre-load to go live. Not sure when I'll get to play them. My company's upgrading our production databases overnight Friday into Saturday and I need to be in the office to provide support.

Knocked out the achievements in the FH3 Hoonigan pack today, except for the championships one. Game had me worried for a bit. After I completed the Mini Forzathon challenge, I was playing the 4th event in the set and the game crashed back to the dash. When I loaded it back up, I noticed I couldn't get into the Hot Wheels DLC. Tried redownloading, hard console power off, no go. Then I saw online it's inaccessible for everyone.

We get racing suits for loyalty rewards. I'd rather have groovy cars, whatever.

Forza Rewards
Had been following that topic on the Forza forums for a while, glad they finally announced it.

Even happier they're granting DLC / token rewards for older titles. I was planning to buy the FM5 tokens before they were delisted to complete that reward, and was looking into what would be involved to get the older games' DLC rewards.

By the end he had become more cheese than man.
... twisted and evil. But that's because he's still more pickle than cheese.

I really want to add Cuphead, but I'm so backlogged. And Batman Season 2, but I'm still finishing up Season 1.

For Batman S2 I'd say just wait for that juicy $2 an episode threshold. It hasn't failed me yet. If you get the game for lower than $10 then it's just an added bonus. I'm guessing it will never be GWG like TWD series since it's Batman.

Yeah. That's what I did with the first season. 5 episodes for $10.

Got a message from Redbox saying that if you rent a game you get the first night free through 10/1 for “Games Week”. But then if you reserve a game, no discount is reflected.

Anyone else get that message and have it work?

Might just be a bug they haven’t fixed but there’s a few games I wouldn’t mind trying for a night.

Saw an article about a possible GWG "leak" which sounds way too good to be true. My Mordor prediction from Sept would come true, as well as Castlevania for 360. Take it with a duke controller-sized grain of salt.

Well, I predicted that Ghost Recon Future Soldier would be GWG and/or BC in February or March in order to get people into Wildlands and........didn't happen. I just don't see WB Games allowing Mordor to go free literally a week prior to War's launch. They would definitely prefer players' attention to be focused solely on War. But, it might happen. Don't think it will but it just might happen.

In regards to this week's "deals", how I would love for Microsoft to discount the digital versions of Halo 3 and ODST. Again, they probably won't do it.

The pictures that I've seen on Twitter make it look fake. The game covers have PEGI, ESRB, & ACB ratings. I'm sure Larry's official annoucement should be soon.

It’s most likely fake. The picture going around on Twitter has box art with three different region ratings.

Off topic SNES talk:
I'm a bit worried about my plans for getting an SNES. Does anyone have their plan of attack set? Thinking about last year I believe I had people lining up the night before which I don't really want to do but I get the feeling I might need to. Guess I'll dig out a camping chair and see about finding a battery for the Switch if needed. We didn't get our shipment in until 2 days ahead of time last year and its looking like it's the same case now.

I guess the big factor is how uniformed the general masses are. If like 5 hardcore guys are camping out overnight then I won't have to show up till like 7 AM probably, but if there are a hundred then it'll be needed. Have there been ads on TV or anything?

Overall I think I'm going to try Meijer's midnight release, then TRU if we have less in line than inventory, or try my luck at Best Buy if not. Over in the BB thread the numbers for 3 stores was 150, 66, and 156, though they probably include pre-orders in there.

SNES Classic stock is starting to show up at Target stores according to Brickseek. My local small store is showing 35 in stock for Friday.

Check the Target Inventory Tracker on Brickseek using DPCI 207-29-7001 and your zip code of choice.

It wouldn't be the end of the month without fake Games With Gold images, though!

In other news, I picked up a Nintendo Switch the other day. Mario + Rabbids is pretty awesome. #reported

From the sounds of stock people have been releasing, I don't think it'll be anywhere as bad as the NES Classics considering majority of places got one or two cases of those last year, but this time around it looks like there's a greater abundance. If anything just remember to check Best Buy's website at 1AM EST on Friday. It's how I got my NES Classic back in last year (and my SNES Classic preorder in) with no hassle and it's their usual time they update stock on things.

I'd say the general masses are aware of it. The announcement of the NES classic in 2018 along with the Snes Classic made the 6pm news.

I wasn't even aware of the restock on the NES Classic til then.

That being said, i just walked in and bought a Switch on Day 1 after my Best Buy order got delayed for a month and I've seen a bunch of Switches in the Wild mostly at Toysrus.

I Pre-Ordered 2 Snes Classic systems from Target but canceled the extra one. My order is shipping for Friday instead of two weeks from now. So odds are they have more than enough and a 2nd shipment on the way.

I was torn between grabbing Mario/Rabbids for my Switch or the Xcom Expansion. Everything I read about M/R said it was great initially and then kinda wore out its welcome, so I went with the Xcom expansion and it's fucking amazing.

I don't know, I heard Rabbids was shockingly good. Too many games now, and I'm waiting to see if it gets the standard Ubisoft tank in price, but I'll get it eventually.

With the SNES, some of you may be underestimating demand. I only can go by the NES last year, but when I was in line for that final shipment at Best Buy, at least 100 people showed up. Having a hundred plus at launch in some stores is a great sign, but I couldn't even tell you how many people asked about the NES over the holiday shopping season, hundreds of questions just for me alone. All that plus scalpers leads me to think it's still going to be hard to find.

Wonder if some of that hype was it was Christmas time and Nintendo had nothing else and it was cheap? Also wasn't the NES a much bigger seller to start with? I had one (actually 2). Never had a SNES but one of my brothers did.

Some of it, but the SNES this year is basically doing the same release schedule as last year. While there is definitely crossover of people who want/have Switch and are interested in these consoles, there are plenty of former gamers that are interested in a sub $100 way to relive the games from their childhoods, alongside gamers that aren't necessarily interested in modern Nintendo and the Switch.

The original NES was a bigger seller overall, but it was relevant for much longer than the average console. The SNES and its generation were the beginning of our rought 5 year console cycles.

Then you focus more on modern gamers. Personally I think the games on the SNES hold up way better than most of the NES library, barring stuff like Mario, Zelda, and Kirby. Many games on this collection are considered masterpieces and still referred to as some of the best games of all time. Super Mario World, A Link to the Past, Super Metroid, Final Fantasy VI.

Had been following that topic on the Forza forums for a while, glad they finally announced it.

Even happier they're granting DLC / token rewards for older titles. I was planning to buy the FM5 tokens before they were delisted to complete that reward, and was looking into what would be involved to get the older games' DLC rewards.

... twisted and evil. But that's because he's still more pickle than cheese.
Agreed on token/DLC points for Forza rewards. Gets me halfway to the next level once they all go 100%.

I sold my SNES Cart of Earthbound for $80 a few years ago so im excited to pick up this whole system for that price. My wife got a physical preorder into GameStop and put $25 down for this SNES Classic so I'll be ticked if they don't have it saved for me on Friday.

Between that and buying Cuphead it should be a fun weekend.
