Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.
[*]ALL OFFERS ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE! No information within this thread can or should be construed as accurate (or still valid), therefore ...

Honestly main gripe with the Netflix series is that they need to feel a little more connected to the other movies and shows they share continuity with. Just a few more simple name drops other than just "The Incident".
I agree. Daredevil did a great job tying in the aftermath of the first Avengers film as there was so much property destruction and Kingpin (and The Hand) started buying up property and gentrifying things with a mobster element. Ben Ulrich's office had newspaper clippings about 'the incident' from the Avengers, etc.

I'm still so angry they killed Ben. They did a great job inserting his character into the show and I was looking forward to him being a show-linking reporter to follow each character and cover their stories, help create a coherent universe, but nope.

Then Jessica Jones comes along in the same fucking neighborhood as Murdock and there's not any acknowledgement of the local vigilante - not even a newspaper headline. A little more synergy would go a long way beyond Rosario Dawson being the only unifying element. Especially with all this talk of "so you're gonna go be a superhero?" without even mentioning by name the very visible heroes they have in their world. References shouldn't be forced, but their complete absence also feels forced.

That's Marvel/Disney's choice. The actors in all the Netflix shows are totally game to appear in the movies or have random Avengers show up in their shows, but Disney prefers that they're their own separate world's,

And hey next season of Daredevil we're supposed to be getting the Born Again storyline adapted, which I'm excited as fuck for.

Awesome news about Forza. I was hoping something like this would come our way and I think they more than made up for it and learned to not pull that shit again.

And a great game indeed even though the Pens couldn't pull it out.
Greedy fucks got slapped down. Unreal the shit game developers try to pull. Played some of the BF2 demo this morning. Actually enjoyed it but more damn cards and loot boxes. I owned the first one and almost never played it so probably an easy pass. I really hate they shove this crap in every game.

Hopefully we won't see the temp 2x return in Horizon 4.

don't play multiplayer so I usually avoid COD but bought a few of the newer ones and am playing advanced warfare campaign and enjoying it quite a bit for what it is

To give props to the Stranger Things game, my wife is not really a gamer. She's very slowly morphing into somewhat of one, but last night she played this for around 4 hours. Claims it's the longest she's ever played anything. Glancing over at her iPad and having helped her out with a few puzzles, it seems solid.

Also checking out The Orville tonight. Heard good things and well supposed to be a funny parody of Star Trek, like Galaxy Quest kind of humor perhaps?
I heard about The Orville while reading up on Star Trek Discovery; turns out I'm enjoying The Orville more so far. I wouldn't say it's a parody, but there are definitely comedic elements. Worth a look for any Trek fan.

Interesting discussion on the different Marvel mini-series. Like many people I'd put DD1 and DD2 at the top of the heap. The rankings of Luke Cage, Jessica and Defenders are debatable, but personally I thought Jessica dragged a lot towards the end and was glad when it ended. Great character, poor pacing. Tightening up Defenders to only 8 episodes was a good move for similar reasons.

That leaves Iron Fist in last place. Like Gamegirlpocket, I can't tell if it's the actor or the writing, but I can't recall the last time a hero was this whiny and unheroic. For an 'invincible iron fist' and 'defender of K'un-Lun' he sure is unimpressive. Thankfully I felt his character improved a lot in the Defenders, so there's still hope for the inevitable Power Man and Iron Fist mini-series.

I loved getting one occasionally when they had a special one, but they have one for everything now...

The one I got for CoD:BO3 had some great shit in it.
Yeah, and now it seems like EVERY shooter has them. Last night playing the BF2 beta, I got like 8 of them. Just unlock the stuff as you level up or something. These loot crates along with the micro transactions that usually go with them are starting to get incredibly annoying.

I think both JJ and Cage were too long and poorly paced towards the end. Good dialogue and interesting characters preserved my interest, but JJ should have been 2-3 episodes shorter. And Cage...

Cage took a great antagonist, Cottonmouth, developed him well, and then killed him halfway through only to replace him with that guy from Cage's past who never evolves beyond some really cliche tough guy talk. The music club, the public figure vs private criminal, Mariah's entanglement... if they were going to kill him, it should have been at the end of a 10 episode arc, not half-way through a 13 episode arch.

Defenders definitely benefited from a less-is-more approach, despite having more characters and moving parts. Even then, it took 3 episodes to really maintain my interest. If at least Murdock doesn't get a cameo in Infinity War after all of this I'm going to be disappointed.

So very happy about Fable Anniversary. I got it when it came out and never really played it. Good day today.

I still like the whole loot crate approach since it gives us more of the real dlc for free, and doesn't split the community as much, I'd much rather have a little luck based drops then pay $15 for maps and have nobody on them after a while.

I'm guessing it's a combination of the writing and the actor. It's been a while since watching it, but I don't remember him being noticeably bad in game of thrones.

The fight scenes had a real artistic edge to them, I don't remember the last time that direction or cinematography made scenes like that stand out so much.

The Punisher was definitely well-done, even if season 2 felt a little bloated. My only issue with it is that the show goes for such realistic violence/gore that some of the ambush scenes (like when he's in the hospital) look more like real-life mass shootings, and it's hard to sit there and watch it for entertainment when it mirrors real-life tragedy. I realize that may have been their intention, to make it uncomfortable, but I still struggled with it.
I have a feeling this will end up being delayed until next year or later due to recent events in Vegas, which is a good idea.

He was barely in Game of Thrones to make a difference. Either he was shaking and cowering or he was swinging a sword both of the metal kind and fleshy kind.

And besides compared to Shay, EVERYONE is acting out of the ball park compared to her since she set the lowest of low bars.

I doubt it. If companies were just delaying violent media because of tragedies, nothing would ever come out. If there was a scene of someone shooting into a crowd from a building it'd be cut or changed, but they wouldn't push back the release by months at this point. Maybe some kind of extra violence warning could be tacked on at the start of each episode, but that's the most I see happening.

Not sure if there is enough similarities to what happened in Las Vegas (from the little I read I don't think so).

I do recall some Schwarzenegger film was delayed by 9/11/2001

Seems a bunch of stuff was. So certainly not unprecedented.

Anyone have an opinion on Forza 7?  Have the Steelbook Edition sitting on my shelf, but hearing the game isn't that great.  Looking for some opinions as I may just return it and wait for a sale.

A couple episodes near the end of Buffy the Vampire Slayer's 3rd season were pushed back because of the Columbine shooting.

bought Forza 7 UE, day1, have owned every forza game. This one is good, but feels different, they changed some of the original ideas that worked well. Feels really dumbed down, more like an arcade game than simulation. It's like they are giving up against GTsport and Project Cars 2. Go to forzamotorsports.net forums for more in depth analysis.

Great news about Fable, it's about damn time. Will probably buy it next time it's on sale.

More likely they'll modify how things are portrayed than delay it, or rewrite things. MGS2 originally had some buildings destroyed in a crash in NYC at the end, but they changed it after 9/11.

I just saw there is a bing sale on xbox live gold. 4,900 points for 1 month and 9,600 points for 3 months. Should I bite on the 3 months or wait for the 1 year at 29,000 points? I'm only 5,000 away...

I remember before 9/11 there was a teaser trailer for Spider-Man with the World Trade Center Twin Towers.

Every time he says something that's supposed to be dramatic or serious, or even just "...I'm the Immortal Iron Fist...." all I can think is:

....this is a joke, right?
Fun fact: My gamertag was David Hibiki before Jagr. Dan is my favorite SF character. Sadly he is not in SF5, which is fine because It's on that evil Sony console anyways and not on ours.

WHAT????????

Fun fact 2: Fable Anniversary was the last game I beat on my 360 before retiring it. The reason? I gave up on it becoming BC. Go figure.

tried to get a 3 month twice and they error'd and cancelled my order both times

I want to pick up Fable Anniversary now. I had always held back because my 360 died. So glad I did.

My Netflix Marvel rankings:

1. Luke Cage
2. Daredevil
3. Jessica Jones
4. Defenders

I haven't seen Iron Fist yet. I know most people will disagree with me about Luke Cage, but I fucking loved that show so much. I really connected with it over feeling like you need to support your community. I think it just comes from growing up in too many shitty places.

I got the standard edition, put a couple hours into it so far. The racing is as good as it ever was. My main gripe that I’ve come across is the collection tiers. Basically, you can’t buy some cars until you buy a bunch of lesser cars. Having only completed a couple long races and not having a ton of CR banked yet, it’s not infuriating to me yet, but after a couple weeks of Forza Hub rewards, I can see myself getting angry soon.

Worth mentioning that Skyrim Survival (a Creation Club mod) is free via in-game Creation Club hub. It will only be free until 10/10. Survival disables fast travel and gives you hunger/thirst meters.

Haha, oh man, I'm not the only one. I think I got up to the first boss or I beat the first boss and then just stopped playing. This will get me back into Albion no doubt!

It was all reworked from the beta testers, I mean Ultimate edition players so you're good. More than likely they'll update it with more tweaks down the road as we say happened with FM6's high end car prices. Forza Motorsport 7 is part of one of the best racing franchises out there. The way they set it up was they wanted people to race in different cars, not just go for the fastest cars out there, (they refer to them as Leaderboard Cars). Most likely the game is set to really shine once Nov 7th comes around.

Omg! A paid mod, that we're not calling a paid mod, based on a free mod, is being given away for free for a limited time? Does it come with horse armor to protect it from harsh weather?

I couldn't find the answer from a light Google search, but if my Xbox Live Gold expires, will I still be able to play my GwG Xbox 360 games on Xbox One?
360 GwG games are permanently tied to your account, and it doesn't matter if you play them on 360 or X1.

Last fall, I did the 1 year at 29,000 points. I am almost to the threshold again for a 2nd year. I would wait if it were me but that's just my opinion and more so, if you play a lot of multi player games that require Gold and/or you are interested in long term freebies with GWG.

I downloaded the survival mod to get it while free but probably won't actually try it out for quite some time. I'm pretty sure it was deveolped by Bethesda themselves as some things on Creation Club are, and it seems kind of lazy by that standard. It looked like all the new "meters" are only visible in you spell menu, as "spells" that change depending to indicate your condition. I might be wrong though. The idea is cool, giving more meaning to cooking and all the previously near-meaningless items you find in game.

Yeah, I don't think it's impossible, it just seems unlikely to me in the current era. The most recent thing that I remember having a big effect on media was the Japanese earthquake back in 2011. A lot of productions were heavily delayed, and it basically led to the cancellation of the Disaster Report series.

But now we're getting Disaster Report with Evangelion, Godzilla, Ultraman and other random franchises so that earthquake can't stop the disaster or something I guess!

I'd rather get a handful of points to pick abilities, weapons, emotes, cosmetics, etc. Freedom to prioritize the things I'm interested in.

I'm hoping instead of complaining about violence in games, more people complain about gambling in games. Lootboxes, microtransactions, etc are more similar to modern video slots where you "win every time" than they are to the expansion packs of old that early DLC was based on. Both make you first trade your real money in for tokens so you're disconnected with the value of each transaction. Then they use the ol' Skinner Box to prey on your brain's reward system. It's especially bad in games marketted at pre-teens/teens, like CoD, BF, Overwatch, since them little buggers don't have the brain function to legally gamble. Gambling is bad, m'kay?

Kalimba is much more difficult than I thought it would be, for everyone who got it from that other region's GwG its fun, not at all the game I thought it was

Agree with this. The whole thing to gamble in hopes you get something good in those crates is bullshit. Rather just earn and be able to pick what you want.

On another note, sitting here waiting for Blade Runner 2049 to start on the big screen. Gotta love Movie Pass. :)

Also remembered that there’s a theater here that has a big ass screen. Locally owned and, while not technically IMAX, it’s damn close with THX sound, etc. So going to use Movie Pass there from now on when a movie releases on that screen instead of the Regal theaters in my area.

For you movie pass folks. Don't forget to sign up for regal club and amc stubbs. Lots of freebies and deals for doing what you are already doing. Also if you see Sony movies scan your ticket to Sony rewards
