Honestly can't say I am too sad about this one. Didn't like what I played of Dead Space 3 and didn't enjoy Dead Space 2 as much as the first game (though it was still fun.)

The actual sad part is how this is not surprising at all. Good ol' EA.

Didn’t even bother with the pilot. No way I’m paying for another streaming service — particularly a service where there’s only one show that I would watch.

Maybe when the entire first season is out, I’ll splurge on just one month to binge watch it. That’s about it.

I'm rooting for it.

I haven't watched any of it, but I have fond memories of The Next Generation...and I have enjoyed JJ's films. Yes, I know the internet would have you believe those two statements are seemingly at odds with each other, but Roddenberry's creation is broad enough to work regardless of where the emphasis is placed (thought-provoking sci-fi versus character-driven action spectacle).

Like others have said, I'll probably pick it up after the season is over; binge watching is how I live my TV viewing life. Weekly episodes are what I call "Sports."

This. I'm already paying for YouTube Red/Google Music, Netflix, commercial free Hulu Plus and Crunchyroll premium. Not to mention annual payments to Stitcher Premium and Amazon Prime. I Feel I can only focus so damn much these days. Also, still ain't even seen Stranger Things yet! I Want to, but damn I only have so much time.

I personally don’t think it’s worth it unless you use it for Google Music in place of Spotify or another music service. Then again I don’t watch as much You Tube videos to care that much about ads and stuff.

I just got a three month trial and as far as original content, it sucks. But $10 isn’t bad if you use it to listen to Google Music and the actual You Tube benefits are just a bonus.

Honestly, I get it more so for Google Music since I just like to randomly consume music and have it all at my finger tips. I think both have been under $10 each on Live. The first one for like maybe $8 and the second one for around $5? Which is about what I paid on PSN too.

Retails for $29.99. I would to guess Best Buy will put it on sale for $24.99 or even $19.99 before GCU. But who knows for sure.

I got it a few times at a discounted price or free. I didn't think it was worth full price. But if you are using it to stream music too then it isn't too bad. Youtube Red on its own is too expensive for what it is. I watch way too much Youtube and get annoyed at times with the commercials but don't think it is worth the price. I never even watched a single Youtube original.

Edit: Yeah, I too have used Youtube Music in the past with and without the sub - liked the personalised music of Youtube they set up (ads don't bother me since I just hit skip when they pop up, although I can understand if you use the service a lot why that'd be a convenience/ if you would be concerned about data the sub allows you to just receive the audio without the video from the youtube videos/having it on your phone with the sub you can multi-task, hate that they take that away with the free version). I've also used Groove and now they're Spotify but I really didn't listen to "playlists" or "popular radio" discovery stuff as much as I did listen to my own music. I guess I'm a rare animal, one who likes to own their own music - this even excludes all the supposedly pirated tracks I have from the Napster/Limewire/college days. I've fallen back to using Amazon Music now with the music I had picked up with Amazon. Tried out their trial but again I like to listen to the songs I have and like than random stuff out there. I might get new ideas for bands, genres, etc from listening to some killer Youtube channels: Suicide Sheep, UKF Drum & Bass, MrRevillz, Proximity, Rameses B, Deep Territory, Monstercat, etc.

Sounds like the game Visceral was working on is fucked too. No mention of Hennig (of Uncharted/Naughty Dog/Crystal Dynamics fame), and the admission that it's being pushed beyond 2019 for retooling. Get prepared for microtransactions out the ass.

It's weird that the EA/Star Wars partnership has been around four years now and we've only had two clusterfuck games from the same studio, the first of which was clearly rushed. With such a home run franchise you'd think we'd have seen at least 3 different studios with games out or very close to launch by now.

 
Can't say I'm sad about Dead Space 4. 3 was already showing its publisher influences and was far inferior to the oritginal two, the fourth likely would have been an abomination of loot boxes.

Honestly doesn't seem too far from the truth. If you read the statement EA put out they basically say they are rebooting the Star Wars game Visceral was working on citing "fundamental shifts in the marketplace" as one of the main reasons why. It was going to be a story-driven linear adventure game but now it will be something with more "variety and player agency."

Pretty hard to make extra money off a game like that, story DLC is about the only thing you can put out and that doesn't rake it in like other forms of DLC.

 
Microsoft rewards question... the site says I can get points for shopping in the Xbox store online. Do I have to make the purchase online or Can I buy through the console like usual?
 
I loved DS1-2. Still haven't gotten around to playing DS3, but I'd still have liked a 4th game if it could have been a return to form. At the same time, the premise for the story can only be stretched so far. I'd love to have seen Visceral make another horror game, though.

A friend of mine who's a huge Trek fan offered me their log-in info for the CBS app (without even asking!) and it's the only reason I've been watching. The first 2-3 episodes do a lot of world-building and it's hard to get a feel for what they're doing. Episodes 4 and 5 have secured my faith in what they're doing. It's good.

The quality of the show, however, and the distribution method, are two very different things, and I think not putting it on broadcast TV or Netflix in the US is a huge mistake. I'm worried the show will continue to be great but they won't build their audience because word-of-mouth has a paywall. For now, anyway.

The timing is certainly interesting on that one. My dislike of Seth kills most of my interest in the show, but I'm sure it has its moments.

When you say Microsoft rewards I'm assuming you mean Bing points? If so then you can buy through microsoft.com or xbox.com or the console.

However if you mean xbox rewards you get vip progress for buying through xbox.com or on the console. I don't believe buying through the microsoft store goes toward the VIP.

Yeah it truly reminds me of Galaxy Quest more than anything. I'm not a big fan of Family Guy or The Cleveland Show but those shows are 99% comedy. I look at this show as more of a 50/25/25 split between Comedy/Action/Drama respectively.

Now that you mention it, I haven't got the email about getting rewards for anything I've bought recently. Any my VIP rewards back are a whopping ZERO PERCENT becuase fuck people that don't spend lots of money.

 
The death of Dead Space makes me sad. 1 and 2 are up there will my all-time favorites. I have a Dead Space wallpaper on my phone's homescreen to represent. Those two games are almost indistinguishable from each other, but put them together, and you have my favorite horror game ever made.

I think Mass Effect is literally the only EA franchise I give a shit about now. And I haven't played Andromeda yet, so that may change.

Also in my backlog: The Dead Space games. I played some demos and had fun so I will share my disappointment in DS4's cancellation for that reason.

Now EA better not mess with the Plants vs. Zombies series. I play that game daily.

I forgot about Titanfall. I did enjoy the campaign in the second game. Got burnt out on PvZ1 fairly quickly, and couldn't get into the Dragon Age games. I liked Burnout Paradise but I feel like Forza Horizon picked up where that game left off; I just miss the destruction.

Battlefield 1 is the bane of my existence. I bought it to appease friends, and it turned out I hated it just like the other BF games. then told friends I "sold it" so they could stop inviting me to the game and it didn't work. They somehow know I own it digitally.

Anyone tried the GamePass trial while also sharing Live with someone? A friend told me it messed up the games that weren’t originally purchased under his GT when GamePass first came out but I’m wondering if that’s still the case. Thinking of trying but every game we buy is under my GT and my fiancé plays on her own Xbone so I don’t wanna mess that all up.

I've had no problem gamesharing with GamePass. All games work just fine for me and my gameshare buddy. Note that he'll need to go to the GamePass section of the store to view the games; otherwise there's virtually no sign of GamePass on their Xbox if they're not signed in as you. Once he selects a game on the GamePass page, he'll see it available to install for free.

Those remarks were in reference to him being asked to denounce self-proclaimed white supremacists after one of them murdered someone in a premeditated act of terrorism (which also put my best friend in a wheel chair). There's no two sides to it, the KKK was literally there, the statues are just a prop for them to organize around.

Yeah, bing points, sorry. Xbox rewards has been useless to me since they got rid of the 1K for playing GWG for 10 hours while it’s free.
