Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

OG Xbox games like Warriors, Jade Empire, Stubbs, all Mortal Kombats, Max Payne, Black, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive don't need cheivments ta rock.....just play that nonsense, you'll see

Can anyone name a :360: or :xb1: game they would play even if it didn't have achievements?  I apparently do that already with Destiny...

I play Overwatch all the time or Call of Duty and Halo multiplayer and don't pop any achievements, so I would definitely play without. Same with sports games like Madden.

I think where Achievements are fun for me is in story based games where you finish the game quickly but then want to spend more time in that world so you look at the achievements list and see what you can do. I know I've done that with Halo single players and Borderlands 2, i loved playing that so it was fun to clean up a lot of those achievements.

In the old days I remember like Super Mario World you beat Bowser but then went back and unlocked Star World and everything else. It felt like the achievement was less of Bowser but more of unlocking every secret exit in every level.

Literally any game I enjoy.

Lost Odyssey, and a handful of other RPGs. I will usually do more in RPGs to get the achievements, but I'd still play them for sure. I mean, I refuse to get the "run 50 times" in Blue Dragon because I rarely, if ever, run in RPGs. Admittedly, I stopped playing Infinite Undiscovery because of achievements. I didn't want that one for 1G lol.

I’m another gamer who honestly couldn’t give a rats ass about achievements. Call me old fashioned, but I play games just to enjoy them.

I might've gotten Seriously 3.0 in Gears 3 already if all the time I spent playing Beast had instead been focused on earning medals. Man, I love that mode. Cuphead. Plenty of others.

The question would probably get much different responses if posed as - would you have continued playing some games for as long as you did if it weren't for achievements? Going for a 100% completion kept me going with some games, like Brumak grinding in Gears 2, or thinking I'll get back to some others, someday (e.g., Borderlands 2). Thoroughly enjoyed Forza Horizon 3, have over 200 hours into it. But I'd have probably moved on if not for the remaining achievements and weekly challenges.

One time I decided to play Super Mario World by clearing every exit except the switch palaces. Some exits required some tricky flying or getting a blue Yoshi through a level, but I did it. Then I checked another save on the cart - turns out I forgot I had already done it a number of years prior.

Cancelled my Scorpio edition order and Battlefront 2. I had some financial sense talked into me, that it's not the time and I need to be responsible right now. I do regret getting a PS4 Pro earlier this year, the improvements are negligible compared to the X and I'd rather still have the normal.

Amen. I've gone off on how achievements have ruined gaming but will refrain from all that this time lol. Good to see other gamers still playing games for the right reason.

To this day the only games I got 1000 GS on were NBA 2K6 and College Hoops 2K6 and that's only because they were glitched and popped for everyone I think. And if all goes as planned I will die with zero platinum trophies as well lol.

Fellow Pinball FX 3 fans: I finished my first “playthrough” and posted a score for every table in Classic mode. Most I only played once or twice but use it as a baseline and when you beat it I’ll obsess over it until I beat yours!

Actively avoiding them seems just as silly.

Just finished Wheelman on Netflix. Pretty good flick. Shot almost entirely in and around a car.

Of course, I watched it on my X1. :)

I play games and don't worry much about achievements. I also rarely go back to games. If I try it and don't like it, I'm probably done. I just sold my copy of Destiny 2 and listed my Shadow of War copy on ebay. With a kid and limited (except for the 50 hours I dropped in SoW in a week, apparently) gaming time, I just don't like to go back to things. I've slowed down my digital buying due to this very thing.

Can anyone name a :360: or :xb1: game they would play even if it didn't have achievements? I apparently do that already with Destiny...
I have 39 DAYS and 5 hours (so... 941 hours) in Black Ops 3... 140/1950 Achievement points and never finished the second level of the SP campaign. So - it wouldn't have mattered if I got 0 cheevos, I would have played the shit out of the MP.

Yeah I enjoy achievements but they're not necessary. Loved the Mass Effect trilogies and getting 100% on those are perfectly doable and was a quite enjoyable experience.

Cancelled my Scorpio edition order and Battlefront 2. I had some financial sense talked into me, that it's not the time and I need to be responsible right now. I do regret getting a PS4 Pro earlier this year, the improvements are negligible compared to the X and I'd rather still have the normal.
Good on you for being fiscally responsible! I tip my hat off to you! Don't worry, the X isn't going anywhere. I pray good fortune finds you and you get one in the near future!

2k6 has easy Cheevos? Asking for a friend...

Forgot to mention there will be a Prestige Store sale tomorrow at Gamestop. (aka only prestige stores have the sale). Sale include B2G1 pre-owned games and Funko Pops, as well as 10% bonus trade in credit. Might go flip some stuff tomorrow if trade in prices don't drop over night. Right now it's looking like I would get $31.60 for a 3.5 jack controller.

Edit: I'm assuming the 10% bump is for games and accessories not consoles.

99% sure they were just super easy like score 30 points with one player, get a triple double, etc. Stuff that was easy to get by playing the easiest difficulty and maxing out the time of the game.
Oh for the olden days when developers didn’t know what to do with achievements. How many year-one titles had easy achievements like 1000/1000 just for beating the campaign or the early sports titles like 2k6? I mean Avatar was 1000 for connecting with 50 attacks.

Doing a search reminded me that there were only 5 achievements each for those 2K6 games. While they could all be manipulated easy enough as they were, there was a weird multiplier glitch that credited you for like 5 3-pointers for every 1 you made or something like that because even though they weren't all that difficult I know I never legitimately accomplished them all.

I legit had to cancel mine because my internet sucks.

We have company over, Aunt & Uncle, and they both were trying to get their laptops onto the internet. Turns out the POS Verizon Jetpack doesn't do two devices together when you're already being throttled for using too much "hotspot" data from a Jetpack (which in definition is the only way to access internet from a cellphone tower!). How sad and so embarrasing - I was like welcome to my world!

Btw, Microsoft Rewards (used to be Bing Rewards) has a punchcard for Halo Wars 2. Do a super easy quiz, download the demo and buy Halo Wars 2 Complete. Yeah, as someone who has the SP already, that's not a deal. Grab this if you are new to HW2 or don't have the SP. It's a limited offer, time is counting down.

Frank O'Connor of 343 Industries just posted an explanation of why MCC was so f ucked at launch. He says once the updates are out next year he'll detail how the fixes are implemented. Nice to see them continue to man up to their huge mistake.

In other news, the final two maps were announced for Gears 4, Fuel Depot and Lift Apex. They mentioned future support past the initial 24 maps promised, but I guess that won't include even more maps. For those not keeping track, the 24 DLC maps break down like this:

-4 new maps

-15 classic maps from old games.

-FIVE Gears 4 maps "remade" with weather gimmicks.

I"m not going to complain too much since they were put out for free to everyone, but I think like half of these maps should have been original. Probably 10 at the very least. The fact that they padded out the promise of 24 with five bullshit maps is pretty garbage, since some people were still buying a season pass.

When I dropped some Totino's Forza codes before, no one mentioned if they were able to get a second use from the ones I had used.  This one's from a Pizza Party Pack that would redeem for a 2nd driver suit.  I've already used it once.

So your wife/s.o. found out and basically stared at you until you cancelled it.

Sorry, I couldn't help it.

Wonder if some of the Xbox Digital games currently available to buy on Xbox 360 would go up in price if they were coming to Xbox One, because I think those games would carry over.

That post on Reddit by 343 is a good read. I’m glad they’re being open with how big a task this is, even if it’s years after the fact. But it’s goid to know they plan to make good for halo fans. I never dealt with any of the multiplayer bugs because I never really bothered with it. The one bug I got hit with was playlist progress getting reset back back to the Halo level in Halo 1. I gave up on the Master Chief Saga playlist when that happened to me halfway through Halo 2.

And I hope other devs take notice. Going back and fixing a years old product can buy you a lot of goodwill for upcoming releases.

Not found out, I never told her about it. But I knew it was the right thing to do. That's the easy part compared to skipping out on at least one concert. I can't say I'm doing what I can to tighten the belt and then spend 500 on a box I don't "need". (Plus I'm telling myself whatever special version they come with down the line will be just as cool as little green text)

I used to be super into achievements but not so much anymore. I'll try to get 100% in games that I enjoy but won't go out of my way if it's a pain. They don't change the way I play a game and I don't see them as any different than in-game challenges. An example would be me doing the tasks in battlefield to unlock guns, they aren't necessary but I like the game and want an added challenge and try to complete as much as possible.

I would be surprised if they added achievements to OG xbox games but that wouldn't stop me from playing games I'm interested in.

With Pinball FX3 available and pulling FX2 from the Xbox One market...I'm wondering if we will ever see sales on the FX2 DLC (360 and Xbox One) again or if they will focus on FX3 now...would be kinda disapponting since I'm still missing a few dlcs that weren't on sale yet and the transfer feature was nice...

Oh wow. Fired up Rocket League to see the newest update. Been a while, the Dropout mode is new to me and got a rare achievement from winning a match via shutout. I got a Halloween crate and threw $5 to get some keys. Import/Legendary Goal Explosion Vampire Bats from the very first crate I've ever opened.

Think I may have to pick up Assassin’s Creed Origins after reading some things about how gorgeous it looks on the X. Other than existing games, sounds like it may be one of the better games to showcase what it can do.

I can’t wait another two and a half weeks dammit!

They could have made a ton more brand new maps if the fortune they made from loot boxes were put towards making them as opposed to funding their esports tournaments.
