I think all they put out were an AC: Origins and MGS 5 video. Rumour has it that the X1X embargo ends tomorrow, so we could start seeing the videos go up.

Well, that’s another reason why I’m going to try to download any updates between now and Monday night. Want to be up and running as quick as I can!

Also think I need to invest in a bigger external hard drive. Currently have a 1 TB and another 2 TB on my S. Think I may get a 4 TB to replace the 1 TB. Really can’t afford another ~$100 on top of the $500 for the X but probably going to need it.

I’ll probably see how it goes. Over the weekend I’m going to do some purging.

Yep I did the same and upgraded a smaller drive to 4tb. Plus purged the stagnant backlog stuff.....
 
Recently transferred everything to my new 6TB HDD and it was a big religious experience on how fucking big and humbling my backlog is lol.

Btw Halloween Rocket League event will be ending in 3 Days 14 Hours 41 Minutes from this posting.

 
I thought one of the new features was breaking down games so you could choose to download not the whole thing. Maybe go into "manage game" and do it that way?

Tempted to rent ACO if the HDR thing is true.

Got the update tonight and am still on an S (for four more days!). Waiting in line like a geek for CoD WW 2. But will fire up Origins when I get home while I wait for it to install (have AC:O digital).

I’ll let you know if it now has HDR.

Edit: picking up CoD wasn’t bad but it reminded me of how much of a clusterfuck it’s going to be picking up the X Monday night.

At least for Gears 4 and The Witcher 3, that wasn't an option. Had to launch the game, and then it put me into the mandatory update phase. I'll check in a few when I try to fire up COD

Yes it's a new feature, no I don't believe it's out yet. It's in the hands of the developers though. You can somewhat see this with FM7 at launch, as Turn 10 said you can get into the game or also download an update which consists of end game cup championship content, tracks, etc.

Saw this on reddit and confirmed.  Putting disc 1 of Halo 4 into a Xbone at the moment queues up a bunch of other Xbox OG/360 games to download when install disc is pressed.

Anyone who ordered the discounted XBL credit from Rakuten a few weeks ago, check your credit card accounts. I have 2 fraud charges that showed up today. This is now the 4th time I have ordered from Buy.com/Rakuten and had fraudulent charges show up on my card shortly after. I keep giving them the benefit of a doubt after a few years but nope, they still aren't secure. Anyone else here have this kind of history with them??

So even though I don't have the option checked to download 4K content I guess my updates tab is going to fill up with all this BS? They need to give us an option to hide that shit. The games that show under the drop-down option for enhanced games also show under games.

Edit: But of course I just picked one to try to boot up that popped an update today and Halo 5 says I need the 14.6 update. So that isn't the 4K nonsense?

New batch of challenges for Forza Horizon 3 are up. They've got them scheduled into late January.

Seems like a pretty big fuck up to tie all these licenses to Halo 4. I feel like this has to be a new addition since surely some people installed 4 right when it came to BC. Hopefully they don't catch it for a few days. I guess this will tell me if Bloodrayne is actually worth buying. Might be fun messing around with the visual novels but they're likely unplayable as I don't think either has any sort of English option. Apparently this was discovered by 4chan, if it had stayed there it might have actually lived for a while like the Wii Mini exploit, but being on Reddit will put a spotlight on it.

I had to uninstall Lost Odyssey for it to start the download, otherwise it just started up when I hit the icon.

So far when I insert my Halo 4 disc, it just installs that (13.45 GB download).

Would the games appear after? I suppose I'll find out shortly.

Edit: Not having luck with any games appearing, and inserting disc 2 just says it isn't compatible.

Looking forward to it but might not get to see it for another week. Imax is cheaper than the standard theaters around me since they updated them with assigned reclining seats. Thor 3d is $12 at imax and $14 at the regular theater.

Yeah, I’ve read a few other reviews that say the same thing. Like, “if you’re fine with the smaller library of games....”

And that’s maybe a valid point (as someone who owns a PS4) to point out for consumers. BUT I’d like to see a review based on pure performance and power.

Played about a half hour of the CoD campaign in Normandy and it’s fantastic. I think the switch to health packs and no health regeneration as well as a bit more limited ammo works well in creating more tension. But still not too unfair with lots of checkpoints (and I died quite a bit on normal difficulty). The action is brutal and graphics amazing even on an S (can’t wait to see it on the X!).

Looking forward to trying NFS Payback today. Just took too long to download last night (CoD popped up ready to start even after about 40% downloaded).

Great time for gaming. Even better time Monday at midnight (or a few hours later dealing with BB lines and hooking it up).

Started the CoD WW2 campaign on Hardened last night - you will definitely need to use cover to survive. Good news is, one of your squad mates has a med pack ready for you fairly often.

Was anybody able to connect to multiplayer last night? I kept getting an error saying the servers weren't up.

Read a few more Xbox One X reviews. Almost every one really hits it on the lack of exclusives vs PS4 Pro. And, again, it’s worth pointing out for people looking at both and making a decision. But to harp on it to the point of making the overall review negative is infuriating.

The console is, I’d say, focused on die hard gamers who likely already made a decision on whether they want Xbox or PS4 for the games themselves. It’s not a console for casual gamers making the choice for the first time IMO. So it shouldn’t be as huge of a factor as they’re making it.

There’s still some great exclusives — hell, PS4 doesn’t have anything close to as good of racers as Forza and Forza Horizon. And plenty of multiplats that will look and play far better now on the X.

I'll be interested to see what happens since my external drive is an SSD. Stuff like GTA V and Witcher 3 were way faster on it than the internal of the S. 24 seconds on GTA V sounds about right, I believe my SSD got it running in 20-22.

Either way, glad to see a noticeable speed-up.

Regarding the "negative" reviews...I dunno. It's annoying to see them harping on lack of games, but also some of those reviews are read by some people who may not be aware of the PS4's advantage in exclusives. I don't really have a problem with it being mentioned. If MS didn't want it mentioned, they shouldn't have let themselves get in this position.

I wonder how much the reviews will really hurt it. If your buying an Xbox One X I imagine you already know it has limited exclusives this year. The average person that might not know that or think about that is probably buying the $250 Xbox One S.
 
My backlog is sufficiently large such that it invalidates all exclusives based arguments. Exclusive or not, there are a ton of games to play in the Xbox library.

If I want to play Pokémon or Mario games then I buy a Switch.

If I want to play JRPGs, or Nioh, or HZD I get a PS4.

If I'm okay with a few exclusives, but value BC, and best bang for my $ I get an X1S. If I want that and the most powerful console which results in faster load times and stunning graphics, then I get an X1X.

Some hard core gamers will invest in multiple systems/platforms. Not to mention that cost will be a high ranking factor in most (average) consumer's choice.

I think that those of us who are xbox fans simply want to ensure that the system/platform we enjoy most (1) survives long term and doesn't crash & burn from bad business practices, and (2) gets the respect it deserves, particularly with respect to the performance of the X1X.
 
Played through the prologue of NFS Payback. Pretty fun and better IMO than the last (self titled) NFS game.

Like that they’ved added some off-road type driving. Lots of jumps and good arcade handling. Only annoyance is that even if you go slightly off course, it resets you on the road. Guess that’s bothersome coming from playing Horizon 3 so much. Not expecting full ability to drive anywhere but a little leeway would have been nice.

Also, disappointingly, doesn’t have as much of that Burnout takedown type thing that hoped it may have. You can take out cops after some damage but doesn’t seem to apply to races with other cars unless it is introduced later.

Overall though, I’m still happy with another good arcade racer.

Anyone try those games that installed with the Halo 4 discs? Wondered if they still worked. I’m sure they’ll take it away at some point. Had most of the good ones in there to begin with. Bloodrayne 2 would be a nice one though to add another OG Xbox title to my backlog. ;)

Gamesradar's 1X review is being trashed to spectacular degree on facebook since the reviewer disliked the console for not making feel feeling like a VIP. The guy was for some idiotic reason, expecting an exclusive UI and to make it all even better, he admitted not to have a played any of the enhanced-ready games available.

In short, he gave the 1X a bad review for still being an Xbox One despite being announced as an Xbox One on steroids since June 2016. Sigh.

What an idiot. It’s about the power to play the games with major enhancements at 4K and HDR. Who would seriously give a shit about changes to the UI when buying a console?

I'll be honest, I thought the 1X is out next week then all the coverage I thought it was today. My backlog is so cram packed that this is furthest from my mind.

 
Played about an hour of the campaign on CoD WWII last night. It was phenomenal.

I think I got the sarge killed at one point and then couldn't unlock the door to the last bunker. Spent 10 minutes trying to figure out what to do. Being the problem solver I am I killed the entire squad with some grenades to restart from the last checkpoint. Then made sure the sarge survived.

The run where you save Zussman is pretty intense. One S&W M1911A, no reload without emptying a clip and swapping sidearms, no health regen, and dragging him to safety while getting ambushed.

Impressed with graphics on my vcr xbox and FHD TV. Acting is great too. Most video game acting makes it feel like a video game.

I was all "This $h!t is definitely FUBAR'D. We either make it out alive together or we die together. And today is not the day we die." Calm down. This is just a video game. Oh yeah, just a game.
