Some notes
  • You cannot currently buy any Xbox 360 content on xbox.com using your account balance, you can only use an active credit card or PayPal. To use your balance, you must make purchases on your console.  Unfortunately, even "purchasing" free content through the web site like trials requires an alternative method of payment tied to your account, though adding an empty MasterCard / Visa gift card that is registered for online purchases will work.  Xbox One games can be purchased on the web site with your account balance.
  • Some sales are intended for Gold subscribers only, as noted within each section.
On Xbox One, Gold trials of any length work for sales and Games with Gold.  You must be an active Gold subscriber (paid or trial) to play Games with Gold purchases.
  • On Xbox 360, you must have at least a 1 month Gold subscription for sales and Games with Gold.  Neither 48 hour trials, 14 day trials nor free weekends qualify.

[*]All known sales and information on sales should make their way into the OP. Major Nelson usually updates his blog with new sales information every Tuesday.

Ah the Halo 3 loading screen and music is one of the few times I didn’t mind waiting for the game to load up....awesome.

I Always found Halo to be just meh, but man they are fucking fantastic co-op games. So many fun times screaming at each other to hide behind a damn rock so we can respawn.

Did a month of EA Access to do the trial for NFS and Battlefront. Excited to see if NFS plays like the videos, which seem like Burnout.

Excited for Hand of Fate 2, will get at $20.

Sorry been busy lately trying to persuade more companies to bring X patchs and their games to the XB1 ;)

I won't be buying anything this week because the X makes my backlog even worst with all these enhancement updates.

I do have interest in Hands of Fate 2 but I still need to beat the final boss of the first game. That fight was just insane and I tried to beat him over 9000 times. I hope the second game final boss isn't as bad. I'll probably give it another whirl in the future.

Blink I thought I saw the Minecraft X patch isn't out till December sometime but I could be wrong.

Less than 36 hours. Have moved most of my favorite games to external drives to be up and running. That said I have no idea how many other X patches will be live before launch. Only have I think 7 games with updates so far and they were estimating 70 to be ready at launch. Something tells me they won’t get even close to that, but will adjust room as necessary as they come.

For those Taco Bell folks that have theirs, is the electrical cord the same? Just want to plug and play and hopefully use the X’s cord to plug the S in and do a network transfer for remaining stuff.

I think the statement was 70 in the launch week

The NFS trial was awesome, can't wait to play it when it hits the vault later next year, had a blast but too many games now to worry about buying it haha

Yes it's the same cord, amazingly considering how much more power the thing uses. You can hear about that in the Podcast Unlocked 320 episode I mentioned earlier. Albert Penello wanted that for consumers but the engineering team is like what, how are we going to pull that off? lol and they did. Just unhook your old console and hook in your new one with the same back inputs/outputs, plug and play.

Update: I finally got that Gears 4 update downloaded. Left my box on for 6 straight days but even throttled speed isn't constant from the cell tower so it takes FOREVER!

I’m still pissed that I have this damn training class this week. Really going to hinder my enjoyment of the X, having to actually get up earlier and pay attention.

Why this week of all the weeks? :(
My buddy set up a work meeting in WI this weekend and used his work miles to grab me a plane ticket we we can go see WI/Iowa this weekend. Ridiculously appreciative, but I’m gonna miss my X for the weekend. We’re from MA, so never really had an opportunity to experience big time college football so looking forward to experiencing that as much as dodging sobriety for a weekend

Played all 10 hours already? Think I’ve used two and it is great.
Nah, only around 2 as well, but really had a blast with it, if it wasn't such a crowded time in terms of games and the X, I'd definitely consider getting it now/earlier, I'm saving the rest of my trial for after I get my X since it's enhanced for it.

Since we're in the slow period before new sales are announced (and before 1X comes out) I figured I'd share how I found my SNES. Brickseek hasnt been working for Target anymore, but Stock By Me does:

http://stockbyme.com/stock-check/target/?sku=207-29-7001

They seem to be coming in store by store, not regionally. The store I went to on Friday was the only one within an hour that got any units. It reports in real time, though, the count went down by one after I bought mine.

On topic: I mostly only enjoy Halo playing on Heroic or higher, although Legendary is only for co-op because I don't hate myself that much. Although, the respawn on co-op makes Legendary a whole lot easier. I went through it recently with a friend, she and I cleared it out pretty quickly.

If you play on Normal, there isn't much challenge, and things feel a lot less interesting. I think Halo 3 had the best balance in terms of set pieces and fewer repetitive environments compared to the first two games.

It is a conspiracy, and they are all in on it.
The Daylight Savings Time Conspiracy is actually of Sony's doing. They think if they can just make me wait an extra hour, I'll break down and settle for their lesser 4K device, instead. That's how little they think of me.

But the joke's on you, Sony - I bought the PS4 Pro last year!

Going to wait and see how Sonic Forces reviews turn out. The demo got trashed but then whatever the fuck that Japanese magazine is gave it a 35/40 and they’re usually fairly tough.

Famitsu and Famitsu is the WORST place to base your reviews on because they do show pretty big favoritism to their big Japanese based games.

Update: I finally got that Gears 4 update downloaded. Left my box on for 6 straight days but even throttled speed isn't constant from the cell tower so it takes FOREVER!
What kind of internet you got? That sounds brutal. I typically get ~50MB/s and even that feels slow with some of these massive games.

Of course, your ISP bandwidth is the most critical, but I’ve found that using 5 ghz makes a huge difference. I only get like 5-7 mb/sec without it and 50-60 avg with it. Sometimes as high as 100+.

So thankful I don’t have caps — yet, at least — on Charter Spectrum.

Still would love fiber but pretty happy with what I have.

There are 41 games right now that are 4K ready. Check this list for "Available Now" in the far right column, as it is being updated everyday. They will hit 70.

Yeah, maybe. There’s quite a few crappy little indie games in there but they count. And some games that aren’t even out yet.

Still, at least most of the big games are already covered (CoD WW 2, AC: Origins, NFS Payback and all the big first party games).

Some of the others on there I never even heard of.

So I guess the updates for CoD did include rhe X stuff after all.

I already sold my X1S, so I will be spending the first night (and possibly next day) downloading stuff to the X1X, even though I have all my games saved to an external hard drive. The game files on the external drive just don't have the updates that the X1X needs :(

I'm praying for a decent sale while I'm at work tomorrow night handing out the 1X to all you lucky S.O.B.s!

Looks like another week of not buying anything for me....... Well digitally at least. Picked up Lego City Undercover for under $20. Hopefully I play that before next Christmas!

Now I'm off to wishing I could play something while the S.O. puts on something amazing for us to "enjoy together". Someone wanna match me shot for shot while I watch Grey's? lol.

Basically it's only two options for me "out in the middle of nowhere" - Upstate NY -, Satellite or Cell Tower. We've tried Satellite internet and it's worse in terms of higher ping and lower caps. They'll also slow you down if you're getting close to the cap, not even if you go over but if you're getting 75% of it. So now we're on Verizon's Unlimited plan and I've got my XB1 connected via hotspot from my Google Pixel phone. For any hotspot with that plan however you can only use 15GB before devices that rely on it get slowed down. Unfortunately it seems downloads take forever, like av 500 KB/sec with an unsteady "flow" of data so at times it is higher (I've seen it go only up to 9Mb/sec for a short few seconds and then nothing after it's throttled) and other times non-existent. After I waited for my Gears 4 update (13.91GB) to get finished I went and played some campaign - which I had set aside to play once the X comes out but I can't get the X with my current situation -, and unlocked a bunch of achievements for that Rally the Troops thing. Was also able to get in a few multiplayer rounds - am thankful I can still do that -, I'm still not the best but I can hold my own online. Haven't played since Gears 3 to be honest lol. Looked up info on my current TV and it doesn't support HDR so hmm, there goes any interest to grab the S in the coming month - it'll have to be a really good deal during BF maybe.

Yeah I would kill for those speeds. SEriously, just give me a name...

Additional observation revisiting SNES games: there aren't any achievements and there isn't any FOMO about it.

Additional, additional observation: it's really easy to mod and I've had a lot of fun with that, too.

So the question is have you modded it yet and if so what additional send games did you put on there?
Top 5 I would
Zombies ate my neighbors
Super double dragon
Chrono trigger
Batman returns
WWF RAW

I'm excited about Date Night tomorrow.  With the launch of Xbox One X happening on Tuesday - and with Microsoft anticipating as many as 70 titles set to see Enhanced patches within a week - I think there is a good chance for a spotlight sale.

....So let's bet on it.

Place Your Bets

 * What are the odds that there will be a sale on at least 10 Xbox One X Enhanced games this week: __%

 * What are the odds that there will be a sale on at least 20 Xbox One X Enhanced games this week: __%

 * What are the odds that there will be a sale on at least 30 Xbox One X Enhanced games this week: __%

Bonus - Make a bold prediction: on price, or a title getting a rare sale, etc

I'll go first....

 * 66% chance of at least 10 Enhanced games being on sale

 * 45% chance of at least 20 Enhanced games being on sale

 * 25% chance of at least 30 Enhanced games being on sale

Bonus - Oblivion on sale for $5 to entice people to check out its Enhancements; Red Dead Redemption (not Enhanced) finally dropping back to a pre-BC sale price to show off how good even non-Enhanced titles can look on the X due to its additional BC quality features.

Pes is that you!? I didn't know you had two accounts!

How did you mod yours? I've been thinking of doing the same to mine but wasn't sure of any possible negative repercussions.

Dear god I've been in the library for 5 hours with a 4 part to-do list and I've spent the majority of that time researching one paper.

I don't wanna clog the thread with it but feel free to DM me.

Important question: how to the graphics look in HD?
It comes with 3 filters, I prefer the CRT filter so they don't look overly pixelated and look more like they did on an old TV. I think they look great, no enhancements or smoothing, just very accurate-looking representations of the games as I remember them. Hackers have added bilinear filters which I've seen on Youtube and they look good as well, but I honestly prefer the CRT because it feels more accurate. It's pretty great to have them running over HDMI and display properly.

Picking up my Xbox One X this week.

I want Super Lucky's Tale as I like the graphics, at least from what I've seen on Mixer and YouTube videos. I haven't played a 3D platformer in a while. I did play Unravel via EA Access a while back and enjoyed that.

Hitman GotY also caught my eye. The steelbook version is sitting on my backlog shelf. I'd do the upgrade but I think I'll just wait for a price drop on the additional dlc.

same torture here, live in the middle of nowhere in FL. internet options here are thru satellite or dsl or cell. cell is 3g/2g for my subdivision since i live outside of town. satellite charges an arm & leg literally so we're stuck with dsl which is like 6mbps up & 1mbps down lol, takes forever to download anything.

they tried to force 4k updates on my regular one which were massive, cancelled the updates which deleted the entire games

and I didn't have 4k enabled and couldn't play the games while their huge updates were dling

no idea wtf kinda shit that was as I had to redownload over 200gig from cancelled updates I didn't have enabled

happen to anyone else?
idk how I'm gonna deal with all these forced updates/patches on my games, I have not gone online in days on my xb1s coz I don't have space or patience to download these massive updates that prevent u from playing. plus i don't want my games to be auto deleted like what happened to .Beowulf's games if I cancel the updates! omg would take over a month to redl all my games =( don't wanna play anything offline either coz achievements earned offline don't sync properly when I go online either. I still can't figure out how to properly sync...i redid some activities while online and they still wouldn't pop UGH.

Whats with the XB1X marketing campaign change? Anyone remember MS saying this was to be the tiniest XB EVER at the beginning? Yet the dimensions have been verified...its bigger than the XB1S o_O and I noticed they stopped saying its tiniest ever lol... They couldn't even make it just 1 mm lol smaller? Geez...Reminds me of the false marketing done for Halo 5 story lol.

I think the dimensions of the One X overall are less than the One S, that it is maybe deeper than the One S but also shorter and narrower. But I don't care about that, as long as it fits in the spot where I have my One S.

The X is actually just a tiny bit wider. Not a difference of any consequence though. 11.6 inches vs 11.8. It's also deeper, but again not of any significance. 9.45 inches vs 9.01. source: https://www.cnet.com/pictures/xbox-one-x-vs-xbox-one-s-sizes-compared/

Was going to sell my Scorpio and just buy the regular one, but the profit on the Scorpio has gone down enough recently that I'll probably keep it since it barely seems worth the hassle of selling. Either way, pretty excited for Tuesday.
