Always buy Western Digital HDDs. Only time I didn't, the Insignia HDD I got from BB failed on me but thankfully BB's GS got it working again.

Rainy day today so video games it is then. Except after I turn on my XB1 I get a prompt for a new system update (433MB). Nnnnnnnnnnnnooooooooooooo
(being throttled the update will most likely fail as last time I had to wait until the data rollover date to get the latest system update where my speeds would be at an acceptable amount to receive the update).
I was planning on partaking in the Achievement Challenge and just found out yesterday you have to opt in for the prize part (which I did last night). Can't really do that if I'm forced to be offline. Shit

Hmmm, alls well but extremely slow as of now. Shit, failed twice three times but went through thankfully, took me many hours. I'm sure this would take 5 minutes on a normal internet setup, if that.

No but my physical FF XV did somehow. That’s why I wasn’t getting the X update.

Stuck the disc in though and it restored it instantly and just downloaded the update. Wonder if that was a bug in My Games and Apps. Maybe it was never actually uninstalled. Just vanished from my games list.

I haven't had games deleted, but Halo Wars 2 wont update, says corrupt, tried again, same thing, tried all 3 HDDs I have (internal, 2 external), full resets, and all that other jazz, guess I won't have HW2 for now, at least I wasn't planning on playing it soon but it's still stupid.

Basically there are 3 HD companies now (for non SSD drives). Seagate (they bought up a lot of the competition), Western Digital and Toshiba. I have a 2TB external WD drive I bought last year around this time. And 3 years ago or so I bought an 2TB external Seagate drive. It was the cheapest way to get a 2TB drive that would fit inside the PS4. I have since moved it back to the external case.

Both drives are fine.

For all you know the drive inside the Insignia branded drive was a WD.

 
Does anyone know if Gears or War 4 has 'drop in' co-op?  Or do you have to start a chapter together?  Someone I know is stuck in Gears of War 4 campaign.  I was wondering if someone could drop in to help get past where he is stuck (like you can in Borderlands) or if the co-op session has to start at the begin of the chapter?

From what i recall it depends on how the host sets up gameplay, they can opt to allow randoms or friends only join. Mid-game joining was possible from what i remember, but it's been a while.

Ah yes, the debate of what brand drive is worse based on what individual users experiences are. Well, allow me to weigh in.

I've been buying hard drives since my first 30gb Maxtor drive circa 2000. I've had WD, Maxtor, Seagate, Toshiba, Samsung, and probably one or two others over the years. I''d say the two brands I've bought the most are WD and Seagate. Right now, I have 53 hard drives in my house. Looking at my case of 10 hard drives that have since been replaced with higher capacity drives, every single drive is a seagate. They are all still fully functional. The oldest drives in my house are two 320gb drives, one WD and one Seagate both manufactured in 2003 with close to 50000 power on hours each. As expected, both are starting to fail, because they're old. Have I had to RMA drives over the years? Duh. I've got a ton of drives. Is Seagate the one I've had to RMA the most? Nope. I own five Samsung drives, that I would have RMA'd if I'd known they screwed up the firmware so badly, all five drives have issues due to a firmware bug. I've updated but the damage was already done. I've RMA'd three Maxtors, two Seagates, and 8 WD drives. Do I avoid WD? Nope. Do I avoid any manufacturer? Nope. They are all basically the same (Some brands actually are the same) quality wise. Yes, sometimes a manufacturer will have an issue with a drive or line of drives. It happens.

TL;DR Avoiding a brand simply because you personally have seen more failures is silly. Don't do it, especially if you're spending more on another brand.

As a final note, when I setup a new server earlier this year, I went with the least expensive drive on the market at the time, because I was spending a lot of money. I bought 8 Seagate 10tb Iron Wolf Drives, and I don't regret it one bit.

Yes, WD is notorious for that crap. Seagate still seems to be doing it right. I know for a fact the Seagate 8tb Hub drive I got (Not the silver xbox branded one, the black generic PC one) has a Seagate Archive drive inside that can be removed.

Anyone have luck trading in their Xbox one OG to Gamestop today yet (with the coupon code)? Been hearing mixed things about it working before 9pm tonight

Had to get up early for this damn training class (which you can tell I’ve been paying attention to based on how much I’ve posted today). And now I’m exhausted and ready to go to sleep.

Need to power through til midnight! (then adrenaline will kick in while I hook it up....and be falling asleep during tomorrow’s class).

An hour early for disappointment tonight! I can't imagine them putting much on sale in connection with the X since they probably figure anyone picking up a system day one can afford to pay full price for games too! Thanks early adopters.
 
Im going to hit up the MS store for a few hours to try and win stuff, play console and get some of their pizza. If I haven't won anything by 11:30pm I'll drive to my GS to pick up console cause I know they leave quick af on midnight release nights.

 
From my personal experience, I bought a Seagate portable drive that was DOA out of the box.  Went to a Western Digital and have had no problems.

The Toshiba brand, on the other hand, has been bad luck for me.  I had a netbook from them that constantly gave me problems (touch pad right clicked everything, unresponsive keyboard, constant buffering) and the hard drive on my Sony Vaio, also a Toshiba, crashed. Right now I am using the Toshiba drive that was in my Playstation 3 and it has been okay so far.

Replaced that PS3 Toshiba drive with a Seagate hard drive.... and it's working fine.  Before all of this bad luck, I bought a portable Toshiba drive that has stayed unopened. Who knows what "adventure" I will have trying to use it?

 
everyone stay safe getting the X's at midnight, upgraded to the 2TB one S last year so not upgrading again for a while, just hoping for a good sale tonight
