Midnight launches for consoles don’t really generate a huge turnout. I’m sure most people ordered there’s online or will just pick them up tomorrow. Really has nothing to do with price though.
 
While I was waiting in line the dude asked how many of us had GCU. Only one other person raised their hand. Surprised geeks picking up a $500 console don’t know about it.

More people need to read CAG. Should have done some recruiting.

Sounded like my local store only got 1 extra non-preorder X and it sold. All together probably about 15 units judging by the line.

I was 17/17 at my GS tonight. I was surprised they had so many preorders.

It was like you had to sign in for 15 days in October, earn 4 different achievements from 4 different games, etc. They have a November one up now.

 
Left MS store with no raffle winnings, they were going to do 1 more at midnight but I had to leave to get to GS to get my Scorpio. Parking lot empty af at 11:55, 2 dude bros walking out, I go in swipe trade credit card for $399 and out by 11:58. Take everything to MS tomorrow to get the 3yr warranty

Didn't complete October's due to the Game Pass, but that could be why. Completed November's so looking forward to what I could possibly win.

 
I got my Scorpio tonight (super lucky cause it must have been a cancelled preorder /extra unit at GS.) Back to the deals, do you guys think Destiny 2 will be discounted on Xbox Live around Black Friday week? I traded in my physical copy to stock up on GS trade credit, and wanted to do digital for Destiny 2. I already beat the campaign, so I was hoping for $45-50

That actually sounds like a reasonable range by XBox standards so I think there's a good chance of getting it for that price.

They will have a digital deal, no doubt. Black Friday or the Christmas sale.

Last year they did a two-fer Destiny and Call Of Duty. I'm hoping they do that this year with Destiny 2 and COD WW2.

 
No free $5 from MS. No free $10 from Sony. No free $5 and $10 from Best Buy. I'm a loser everywhere so I'm gonna even it out by not buying anything from these company until BF. lol

So I think I added like 7 more achievements for going through Campaign mode for Gears 4 - and it turns out the Rally the Troops Promo was a success! Thankful I could do that (play the game while connected online so I can upload my achievements and progress) and yeah it might not be the best visuals or fluidity (OG version) but it's still damn fun. There is a bit of Deja Vu though, if you've played through the campaigns in Gears 1-3 - still haven't played Judgement so not sure there- you'll notice a pattern lol (wonder if it was Ferguson who implemented it since he's old guard from Epic now at The Coalition).

Congrats Xbox One X owners, game on!

I got the $5. If it was tied to some achievement promotion or whatever as previously stated, I must have done it unintentionally.

Just put the One X into the preview, and yay another update. Just trying to network transfer everything from my old One S, and I have to say the transfer speed is impressive compared to downloading for sure. Too bad there's over 500 GB to go.

WTF on Gamespot giving NFS Payback a 5/10? I’ve loved what I’ve played so far. Better much better than the last Need for Speed. I’d give it at least an 8/10.

I have a Samsung as well and had that problem with the S. Drove me insane and actually took a few days to figure it out. Glad you got yours working quickly!

Was a bit worried I’d have to mess with that stuff again with the X but it was good to go from the start.

Ready to give up on it at the drifting mission, way too touchy, can't get it. The first car was perfect, haven't liked anything since.

Oddly, I’ve despised drifting in other games but found it really easy in this game. But I completely understand, I had to give up on another racing game (can’t remember if it was an old NFS?) because I couldn’t get past a drifting event.

I'm planning to upgrade my Xbox to either the S or the X/Scorpio, but I currently don't have a 4k tv for that room. Does anyone recommend a specific tv that works really good with Xbox, especially now with Black Friday coming?
 
My friend is nothing if not impulsive. Went with him last night to pick up at midnight. Apparently BB shipped his console when he actually selected store pickup, so he was pretty pissed.

...so he bought a non-Scorpio right then and there and was told he could return it when his shipped order arrived.
 
Bardockkun asked me to tell everyone that he's discovered the wonders of hacked SNES Minis, and will finally be playing all those fan-translated JRPGs the way they were meant to be played. Except not really, because they aren't in Japanese. Point is, Sailor Moon.

He's mailing me all his Xbox games and won't be back for awhile.

TCL P605/607 if you are on a tight budget. OLED if money is not a problem.
 
Didn’t get a whole lot of time to play last night, but AC: Origins was easily the best showcase for what X can do IMO.

CoD WW2 looked good but honestly not sure it looked that much better than on the S. I was tired though and obviously hard to compare without it side by side on your own. Some occasional glitches on it as well.

Tested some 4K video as well and I think it also looks better than on the S.

Picked up Shadow of War since it was on sale today. Haven’t finished the first game but figured I could probably do fine without the ending. And know it’s another good reference title for the X.

Having played Titanfall 2 just about every day since I got it last December, I'm quite familiar with how it looked on my One S and 4K TV. Tried one match last night after setting up the One X.

Wowzers. There may be resolution, framerate, and filtering issues on the One X per the Digital Foundry analysis, but I noticed none of that. I immediately saw the increased detail straight from the Respawn logo splash. The multiplayer menu (not trying single player again until everything is confirmed fixed) alone was stunning.

The actual match I played was just a quick colosseum game to get my happy hour bonus, so action was hectic and the scenery sparse, but it still looked great. Much harder to catch the new resolution clarity while running around walls and such, but it still looked and ran great.

According to a user on the TF2 Reddit, however, apparently normal matches are showing signs of a worse framerate versus the un-enhanced version, so that's not awesome. Even still, I'm impressed and I'm sure they'll figure it out.

Very, very excited to try other enhanced titles. Please don't suck, Slime Rancher.

Oh, and that Insects thing is worth trying out. You can switch HDR and 4K on the fly to see the improvements. There's also a split screen HDR/SDR mode, and an option to highlight colors only visible via wide color gamut. Very cool little tech demo.

Also tried some of my other, not yet enhanced daily titles.

For Honor looked about the same, but also I feel like I saw the improved texture filtering at work. The game seemed better filtered and just a hair clearer.

Rainbow Six: Siege menus were almost always 60 fps (the game actually has a frame counter option), and my brief terrorist hunt attempt was also consistently 60 fps, which is a huge improvement.

Rocket League Drop Shot has always felt very bad due to a low framerate, but the One X kept it at 60 fps.

Load times might be improved, but I already used an external SSD, so maybe it's not noticeably faster either due to me previously using the fastest possible loading method or it's bottlenecked because of using an external. There have been some reports that the internal is faster than external now, but I can't confirm it.

There's also a YouTube comparison of One S versus One X loading, which is always improved unless the game is using 4K assets, and even then it's only slightly longer in some cases. He did use externals on the One X and they were almost identical to the internal. Just checked the comments and he said he's working on a video using an SSD.

Holy crap, Skate 3 with the new xbox one x enhanced update looks fucking amazing. Like playing a brand new 2017 Skate game whoa. I love the console, bought a 4k hdr tv saturday and picked this up last night and its so worth. Gears 4 and Madden also look amazing and feel so good. Only three games I've so far

For some reason my Game Pass code wouldn’t work for me on the console last night. Just kept looping back to a message saying it was connecting to the website. May have to try on an actual browser when I get home.

Also, despite the Xbox website saying that CoD WW2 enhanced update is “Available Now”, I don’t think it is. There were a series of updates when it came out so wasn’t sure. But it isn’t showing up as enhanced on the console list. And as I mentioned before, I didn’t think it looked all that much better on the X.

Anyone know the status?

I picked up a Samsung MU7000 to go with a Scorpio. Looks stunning, and I'm very pleased. I had some space constraints and this came in a size that fit my space. It also met or exceeded all the tech specs I was looking for. Looked at the MU6300 but some the tech specs, particularly HDR, were sub par. Got it from Best Buy only because of certs and trade credit I had available to use. It was $100 off suggested retail, had them price match to Amazon to save another $50, used $35 in certs, used $140 in trade credit. Then I'll sell my 32" Samsung series 5 FHD to cover a chunk of the remainder. All in all worked out to be a good deal and was less than the MU6300.

I really liked the Sony X900e but it was too large for my space constraints. Also it broke into the $1000 range which was more than I wanted to spend right now. The x830 fit my space constraints, but without the extra savings I got on the Samsung it wasn't as much bang for my buck. Not sure why but the X900e seemed superior to x830. Maybe because I saw the CoD WWII preview on it.

I'm sure some other people will have differing opinions that might help.
 
If you’re on a budget, the MU6300 is still good. I have the KU6300 (the previous year’s model of the same TV) and it still looks amazing to me. Not saying the higher priced models, especially with OLED, aren’t better. They are. But I’ve been very happy with my KU6300. HDR really makes a difference on it even if it is a lower spec.
